⚜ The Interuniverse Inn ⚜

It's your friendly local watering hole. Well . . . maybe not so local. But on a night like tonight, when the weather is terrible, when you really need a drink, the sympathetic ear of a bartender or a place to wait out the storm, you'll find just the place you need.

The Inn is a place at the crossroads of many different worlds, where people from the past, present, future, and the universe next door can gather. There's a crackling fireplace with couches and chairs nearby where patrons tell stories and jokes and warm their bones. The bar is very long, with tall barstools lining the counter and more taps than you can count at a glance. And if you have a bit too much -- or meet someone you'd like to get to know better -- just head up the stairs, where the inn has rooms to let.


The ambiance is warm and the waitstaff are attentive. Sure, that person sitting next to you might be a little odd compared to what you're used to, but what an excuse to strike up a conversation, right? Take a load off. Quench your thirst. Share your story.
Inspired by Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and the Worlds' End Inn, here's a setting to facilitate all your cross-canon CR, your one-night-stands, and your drinking games. Pick a starter from the list! Tag out! Have fun!



BARTENDING: you're more than a regular, you're the familiar face behind the bar, polishing glasses and lending an ear to the patrons' sob stories. What'll it be?
DRINK SPECIALS: management recommends the Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster, but does not accept any liability if you choose to actually order it.
MAKE A TOAST: raise a glass to something you're celebrating, something you're mourning, or whatever's on your mind. If the spirit moves you, toss your glass in the fireplace! You'll feel better.
STORYTELLING: everyone here has a story to tell, and that storm outside is still going strong. Why not share a tall tale to pass the time?
KARAOKE: don't be fooled by the rustic atmosphere. We've got modern conveniences! Get some liquid courage and give us your go-to karaoke jam.
BAR BRAWL: ooops. Someone's had a little too much to drink and is getting a little too loud. Things are getting tense. Are some heads gonna get knocked?
READY TO MINGLE: are you here by yourself? Got a good pick-up line to use? Maybe someone will buy you a drink to get the conversation started.
DRINKING GAMES: Whether it's Flip Cup, Beer Pong, or just a good old shot-for-shot drinking contest, there's no better way to get very smashed and make new friends. Or enemies, if they're sore losers.
BAR GAMES: fancy a game of darts? Maybe you're a pool shark. Or maybe you're a pinball wizard. Or just a wizard, who's cheating at pinball. Rude.

Eliot was usually back in the kitchen, never entirely sure how he'd found this place instead of the brewpub's kitchen one afternoon, but he'd stuck around all the same, because it was obvious that this place could use the help.

On nights that the place was busier than usual he was happy to help out tending bar and even waiting tables.

He doesn't talk much, but he's happy to tend to the plants around the inn. He might even have turned one of the storerooms into a nursery. Spoiler: he totally has, and he'll be happy to show it to you.

Cricket is a little bit shy in a crowd like this, not because he's unused to the atmosphere, but because he's used to working in it, not hanging around and socializing. He used to sweep up and serve patrons at Blackwater Station back in Franklin County, and there were a lot of nights he sat by the window or in the corner keeping an eye out for trouble while Forrest went over the books in the office. Having other people bring him things is a little strange.

The food is good, though, and he's keeping out of the way of rowdier patrons, which causes him to end up tucked comfortably in a corner next to a couple large planters. He's got no idea what kind of pine tree is in the one next to him, but it smells nice. Christmas-y.

It takes him a minute to notice the guy on the other side of it, at which point he blushes because he was sniffing the tree like some kind of arboreal pervert. "...uh. Hey. Sorry 'bout that. Reminds me of something back home."

Being an Opener meant that sometimes she wound up at the wrong local tavern, as was the case here.

Not that she was going to complain, it would be nice to get away from her duties for a while, to just warm herself near the fire and let her cloak dry out a little from the rain.

It was his job to clear dishes away from empty tables and make sure condiment baskets were refilled and replaced, and he was good at it. He was pretty sure he'd been here longer than he'd been anywhere else, but it didn't bother him, it was good work, and it was always nice to see the regulars, and almost always nice to meet someone new.

Lup was happily warming her bones by the fire, and they were, in some instances, definitely bones. Whenever the flames banked low, or the shadows under her red hood deepened, her face went positively skeletal, with sulfur-blue flames sparking in her eye sockets.

Of course, the rest of the time she looked like any other elf, only drinking a much fancier cocktail than they generally went for.

Rare to find somewhere that serves everyone, including literal ghosts. Or, maybe he's transcended his ghost-ness until he's found somewhere he can be sort of tangible for a little while. And hey, they don't ID here so being Just Above Over-age isn't as much of a hobbling factor to his steady consumption of cut-price beer. There's a pitcher on the table that he's been helping himself from for a while, refilling his same glass and occasionally getting the staff making the rounds get him a new one. Maybe this next glass will actually start to have an effect. God, he hopes so. Anything is better than feeling like the death he looks, with veins creeping up his face and milk-white eyes staring ever outward over heavy bags.

He really looks like he could use a friend, or at least someone willing to sit with a dead man and quietly drink shitty beer.

Well, he's the king of the ghost town, aka the goblin market, he's probably walking around like he own the place. Which he likely does.

Tars had been here long enough to learn the ways, become annoyed at the still closed Door, and slowly relax some. And, to keep busy, take up bartending. Learning human, and other, drinks, kept him busy, and helping keep up the bar kept him even busier.

Mind you, the bar was vaguely sentient, and magical, or so they said, and it definitely could serve drinks, but even it needed sleep sometimes. So Tars tended bar when Bar needed sleep, performed repairs that needed doing, even to Bar, and enjoyed himself thoroughly. Not to mention the people here seemed fascinated by how he could mix drinks with one or two hands, hang out drinks with another, and pour drinks with yet another.

They all reminded him, sometimes, of John, and while John had been around sometimes, Tars had not seen his friend here in a long time. But there was much to do, and so Tars was there to take an order when someone approached the bar and looked confused, or curious, or shocked, or possibly just tired.
