Don't even joke about them making nests. [ Is Caleb teasing? Fjord hopes he's teasing. The idea of centipedes making nests in his hair is a little bit traumatizing. ]

We should've asked Caduceus to talk to them as soon as what's his name mentioned the word 'centipede.' [ You can see how much Spurt's tragic 11 days have made an impact on Fjord. ]

I don't think you have enough hair for such a thing but if you're not sure Caduceus is a living ecosystem. [ He is a horrible person enjoying this as much as he is. ]

It doesn't matter now. There's nothing left worth talking to. It was a bright spot of something different in these tunnels however.

It was, [ Fjord admits, as he looks over at....the tunnels. These things feel like they could go on forever. ]

How long d'you think we'll be down here?

That depends on how direct these tunnels are. We will certainly be here for weeks. Two or three, I think looking at the map.

[ Fjord lets out a low, long whistle as he looks over at the tunnels. ]

I'm used to that sort of forced togetherness, working on a boat and all that. But two weeks...I wonder which one of us is gonna get sick of the others first?

Beau.

[ It wasn't clear if Caleb meant that Beau would get sick of everyone first or if everyone would get sick of Beau first. ]

We did survive at sea together. We can survive these tunnels without turning on each other.

[balleater]

At least with boats, you can get space from someone if they're bothering you. It ain't much, but it's space.

[ you can't really get space from people when you're all stuck together so that people don't get lost underground. ]

But yeah, it's Beau.

[ he loves her....but Fjord knows that it's likely that Beau would get sick of everyone first and everyone would get sick of her. ]

[ They all love Beau but she is very... intense. ]

I will try to use Frumpkin to defuse any tension. She responds well.

[ And if that didn't work he would rely on magic in some form or another to calm her down. Caduceus might still have that spell he used on the giants once. ]

You... will have to stand far back if I do.

[ There's a brief moment where Fjord looks confused (why would he stand back?) before he realizes oh, right, cats make him sneeze. Duh, Fjord. ]

I don't mind bringing up the rear of the party if it makes everybody happier and less prone to dumb fights.

We only have dumb fights.

[ He is resigned to the misery the last few days of trekking through the tunnels will turn in to. There's no escaping it. ]

Not entirely. Some of our fights are super dumb.

[ They have had some truly spectacular stupidity happen to them and between them on their travels. ]

I will do my best to distract Beau when she gets... cranky. You will have to come in as backup if my cat is not enough. Or perhaps we can convince Yasha to carry her...

If need be, I can probably carry her.

[ he can't. But look, Fjord is fuckin' fit and will take any opportunity to remind people of that. ]

We've just gotta be careful of her kicking someone in the face.

[selfburn]

Yes, but she'll be happier with Yasha carrying her.

[ hasn't Fjord noticed that? Beau is not exactly subtle about making eyes at Yasha. ]

The point is to keep Beau happy so she won't punch someone while we're in these tunnels.

[balleater]

Why would she— [ OH NO WAIT, HE GETS IT NOW. ]

Right. We get Yasha to carry her. [ said with a little wink and a tone of voice that's pure 'I'm picking up what you're laying down.' ]

[selfburn]

[ Well, he got there. Caleb's very proud. ]

That should hopefully solve our problems.

[balleater]

That'll solve what, one out of twenty? [ He's joking, giving Caleb a wide grin as he talks. That doesn't change the fact that the Mighty Nein have a friggen rolodex of problems to deal with. ]

[selfburn]

Nineteen now.

[ It's almost a joke. ]

How are you holding up? You are used to the sea. This is very different.

Honestly? Surprisingly well. Yeah, the caves are shit, I won't deny that. But I must say, it's a relief not to be continually stressed out.

[ said as he looks over at Nott. He feels for the goblin, though he'll never admit it. ]

It's tough when everyone's wrapped up in your bullshit and you've got to be the one to call the shots.

She needs us.

[ Caleb feels a little anxious twist in his stomach. After they help Nott, he can't help but worry they'll focus on what he confessed. ]

No one else would help her looking like she does.

[balleater]

You're right, [ Fjord explains, with a little nod. Because he is. Nott's circumstances are completely terrible and absolutely horrible. They'd help her. Who else would? ]

We've gotta get her husband back.

[selfburn]

And then find a safer place for them to live. Not in the Empire. Not during this war.

[ As fiercely protective as he is over Nott, he was going to be worse with her husband and son. They were important to her and he would never let them suffer if he could prevent it. ]

Undoubtedly.

[ Their town just got ravaged and completely destroyed. Even someone as unobservant as Fjord was knew that going back to an unsafe place with a formerly kidnapped person who they might do a jailbreak with would be a bad idea. ]

D'you think Jester could forge some papers to get them into Nicodranas? Out of all the places we've been, that's one of the safer ones.

I'm certain she'd be willing to try. And if not... if I can master the Teleport spell while we are here I can simply send them there to the wizard's tower and they can then go on to the Chateau.

[ Caleb had been thinking about this for a long time, clearly. He was already planning what came next after they got Nott's husband safe. They would get away from the war even if the rest of them couldn't. ]

That is if we live through this.

[balleater]

Course we'll live through this, [ Fjord remarks, as if it's obvious. Even though they aren't on a boat, the Nein are still his crew. He's still going to try and keep everybody alive as long as possible no matter what. ]

Xhorhas, for all it's crazy shit, is just normal people crazy shit. No gods or sea monsters or any of that nonsense. [ he thinks ] It should be a breeze dealing with this.
