WOULD YOU RATHER-

1. Post with your character.

2. In your comment, have your character ask a question. Would you rather ________ or _________, where the blanks are anything your character would like to know from anyone who might respond. Maybe they're asking out of curiosity. Maybe they have a dilemma of their own. Who knows.

3. Respond to other characters, whatever catches your own character's interest or whatever they'd like to talk about. Maybe they can't decide between the two. Maybe it's an easy answer. Maybe they think the question sucks. Discuss. Chat. Take turns.

4. ????????

5. Profit.

The presented options have their advantages regardless of their inevitable shortcomings.

One alludes to a sense of security and with prolonged patience, a more beneficial alternative may come around. Unfortunately, how this world operates is not so linear; that chance's arrival may be tardy in the worst case scenario. The other offers opportunities that will hone the lessons learned from before and may boast of experience from trial-and-error. Still, blunders will continue to come and go.

Out of the two, which type of person seems more appealing for you to work with, be it in a professional or informal setting?

Ah, you show a great deal of wisdom in seeing the entirety of the situation.

[She's quite impressed.]

Personally, I think I'd prefer to work with someone who is more likely to act rather than wait and see. This way the contrast between the two of us will likely lead to the best outcome, since I tend to er on the side of caution and discretion. I may not agree with such a person a great deal of the time, but many great police partners are formed in such a way so that they'll make up for each others weaknesses.

Perhaps in an informal setting I might prefer to have someone who shares my own viewpoints, just for the sake of my own personal comfort or happiness, but when it comes to seeking truth and justice I'd prefer to have all my bases covered.

A response that favors versatility despite potential unease and jarring compromises... The laudable title that revolves around your name and reputation certainly precedes you.

[ He means it; to believe otherwise would be laughable at best. 'Truth' and 'justice' rings loud and clear; obvious from the get-go that she has always been every bit deserving of praise and acknowledgement for her growing achievements. ]

Separating one's work and personal life is often advised, after all. However rare it may be though, it would be interesting to encounter someone who can play both roles well enough, much like a certain famous duo in the fictional realm. [ re: Holmes and Watson, perhaps. ]

Surely they'd be much to talk about then, in cases like that. I imagine the opposing thought may be more freeing for others as well where one's work has little to no connection to their closer friendships. I wonder which one suits your best?

My apologies, Naoto sort of just has alarm bells ringing in her head atm

[She is certainly impressed by this young man, but also a little bit... suspicious. Laudable title? Her reputation wasn't quite that renowned was it? He seemed just a little too good at knowing about her personal beliefs and the right things to say, which were not common public knowledge. Unless he was from... the future? With the way the nature of these places worked, this was entirely possible although jarring and sometimes unsettling. Perhaps he'd even known another incarnation of herself that he'd become close friends with? Was he a fan? An up and coming detective trying to follow in her footsteps? Or perhaps something more sinister? Should she reveal her suspicions? Confront him? Or play it cool? He obviously was at a distinct advantage knowing about her when she knew next to nothing about him.]

Who are you?

[ Goro hardly deflates in the face of absent recognition, even from a supposed predecessor. Attempts at small talk shouldn't be approached so flippantly and yet -- here he is. ]

I apologize. I've gotten carried away with my curiosity, haven't I? Rest assured, I'm nothing more than just a rookie detective, in the end. I'm Goro Akechi. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Naoto Shirogane, but as you've already eluded to, you already know that. Tell me Akechi-Kun, what exactly is it about me in particular that has you so fascinated? Perhaps if I knew why you held such an interest I would be more willing to answer more of your questions.

Surely it's not just me who has expressed intrigue towards your capabilities. Your repertoire of astute, investigative skills are a stranger to no one, after all, and considering how young you've started out as well, many are in the opinion that your track record will remain in excellent condition for years to come.

Very well. Perhaps I've been a bit too hasty in my suspicions. To answer your previous question, I have a personal preference for discussions with like minded individuals, and working alongside those that can cover for my weaknesses.
