[The instant the villain slams his fist into the side of a building, he knows tonight isn't going to go his way. Such is the life of a pro hero, as they say. Still, he'd been looking forward to tonight for so long. He'd been pulling crazy work hours over the past two months, maybe 14-17 hour shifts at a time, sometimes foregoing even returning to their shared apartment during those nights because he had to get up and do it all over again three hours later.

Sometimes Leon would be with him. He'd long learned the man had a loyalty streak lightyears long, and even though he didn't have a quirk, he could hold his own in a fight. Izuku admired and loved him for that. He was a force to be reckoned with, and he'd saved Izuku on more than one occasion due to quick thinking and a lightning quick draw of his bow.

He'd been hoping to not have to fight tonight, as he'd gotten a rare night off after the last few months of insanity. But the problem with being a hero is that they never really had a night off, especially when the city was being terrorized right in front of him. Luckily, his agency had gotten some new recruits over the last couple weeks to deal with the overtime, and they'd been a godsend. As much as he always wanted Leon around, he didn't want to trouble him for every mission. Because as strong and impressive as Leon was, there was always that shock of fear that slithered through Izuku's stomach at the idea of a superpowered villain getting to him before he or anyone else could stop it.

So, admittedly, he makes a critical error tonight. More than one. The first is texting said archer a quick 'one last villain to take down, be there soon' and the next was the fact that he did not arrive home soon. Unless 'soon' meant three hours after their planned time, but really, Izuku knows he fucked up.

So it's with a heavy sigh and guilt that he enters their shared apartment, wincing a bit at the smarting of his bruised ribs, before calling out to him.]
