Warning: Be aware that this meme deals with dark subjects like slavery and may also contain non-consensual/dubiously consensual sex, violence, and kink.

SLAVES

1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.

2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.

3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.

4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.

5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.

6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.

7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.

MASTERS

1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.

2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.

3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.

4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.

5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?

6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.

7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.

Ben preferred to pass as part of the magic-less part of the population. It had begun as a teenager when one of his mother’s political rivals uncovered her birth father’s identity. It explained a lot. But, gradually, the public had forgotten and the whole family had been allowed to fade back out of the gossip page. That had been over ten years ago. He suspected that the entire wizarding population had forgotten his existence once he decided to leave Ilvermorny in the wake of the revelation. Besides, it left him free to spend time with his NoMaj father without MACUSA monitoring him.

He’d been so withdrawn from the Wizarding World that the first he’d heard of Grindelwald was when the NoMaj governments had fallen. He still didn’t know what had become of his parents. His mother was surely fighting back if she still lived. His father would join her if he had the chance. No one had known what to expect in time. For the first time since his boyhood, he regretted not keeping his wand on his person at all times.

He twisted his arms within their bonds. Never had he hated being a Legilimens so much. He could hear it all, the despair and confusion of his fellow prisoners, the hatred and disdain of the guards, and the curiosity of the customers. He couldn’t shut any of it out.

He's always been a slave owner, for as long as he can remember. Yet this is the first time he's chosen one himself. The nanny slave and gardener slave in the house he grew up with had been chosen by his parents. There were slaves in the army served as caretakers or beasts of burden. After his wedding, Mary had chosen two slaves for their own house together.

Then a suspicious fire had taken away that house, the slaves, and his wife in the space of an hour. By sheer luck John had been on a drive to try to get the baby to sleep.

When he'd returned to find his house engulfed in flames, he'd foolishly abandoned Rosie in the car and raced inside before being thrown by by an explosion. Now he has a hideous scar on half his face and part of his hair missing to remind him of that night, as if he would ever get the image itself out of his head. He knew Mary had a past, knew that she had enemies who could catch up with her...but he never imagined this.

Six months on, he knows he needs to go back to work. But Rosie needs a childminder and someone needs to take care of the house because John just cannot bring himself to care. Most nights he sits alone, drinking in silence, waiting for that cry upstairs so he has some sort of purpose left.

It isn't until he visits the Shelter that he gets a perspective he hadn't even thought about before. He knows there are Traders who deal in new slaves. Shelters, like with animals, are for the discarded slaves. The unwanted strays who were too old or crippled or simply physically displeasing to most Masters. He goes there originally with the intent to find a sweet old lady type to bring home. One Rosie can call Nanny maybe and they can pretend they're something of a messed up family.

He walks with a cane, as he's had ever since he came back from the war, made worse recently since the fire despite the hospital having found no further damage other than his face.

John's eyes pass briefly over the one in cage 25. Poor creature curled up in the corner, curly hair bedraggled, looking starved and beaten to an inch of his life.

"What's this one?" He asks the shelter owner.

"Oh, not sure you want that one around a baby. Everything that one has been used for...he's hardly 'clean', if you get me. Not that he's seen as good for that now. Poor wretch." the gruff man says.
