The OOC RP Discussion Meme

The OOC RP Discussion Meme

[How To]

1. Discuss anything to do with RP-ing - Plots you want to try out, characters, characterization, head canon/fan theories, game ideas, meme ideas, fic and fanart ideas, AU and crossover ideas, Verse/PSL ideas, etc, etc. Game and comm promotions are fine, too.

2. Comments can be anon or non-anon, it's up to you.

3. Please do not bash, flame or name drop any mun or game in a negative fashion. No wanking, please!

4. Have fun!

Maybe more anonymous-to-start memes. I thought the Lights Out meme went surprisingly well.

friending meme! would be a neat way to 'meet' other characters and find other people to play with.

I wish there were more lighthearted and easy memes.

Sometimes, I'm just in the mood for something idiotic and fun.

Here's an idea that's fun: How about a Battle of the Bands/Concert Party sort of meme?

Maybe not exactly BotB - I think a competition would be pretty hard to pull off as a meme. But more of an multiverse concert where your character and their bandmates (if applicable) have been invited to play - or simply to attend if they don't actually play music.

There could be one thread where everyone who's playing posts their performances - could be a link to a video, could be just a written description, or some combination thereof (link to the song being performed plus a description of what their performance is like, whatever). Replies to those posts could be audience reactions during the performance, catching one of the artists backstage or at the party afterwards, idk.

The rest of the meme could just be the party bit; people mingling, grooving, whatever.

The idea is sort of half-formed at the moment, but what do you guys think? Neat idea or too much effort?

What about a Matrix-AU meme? Your character is a human/program/Agent/what have you, with scenarios related to each. Humans running from Agents, pulling people from the Matrix, training, programs concocting wily shit in the background, etc etc.

Some memes focused on fighting maybe. There are characters that want to have some action time.

A meme designed specifically for AU characters/Fandom OCs and the people interested in playing with them? I know I'm not alone in my hesitation to tag canon characters with any of my OCs, and it could be a good way to get past that awkwardness if there was a meme where it was a bit more tailored to that group of muses?

i don't mind all the ship memes, but i wish there where ones that didn't make it so usually your only options are castmates or gamemates.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've ever played with castmates or gamemates in a ship meme, especially since I'm not in any games right now.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
you know what would be cool? a meme (shipping or gen or whatever) where everyone just posted a muselist/list of characters they'd be willing to play, and people respond asking for the character they'd like to play with.

avaragarda: An upshot of a cliff with desert varnish in Horseshoe Canyon, Canyonlands National Park (don't hang on)

Looking for mods!

[personal profile] avaragarda 2012-11-11 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[community profile] vaidatha is a survival skill game in which characters are taken from their home world, stripped of their skills, and dumped in the middle of a ruined desert civilization. They have no supplies other than those on their person, no means of survival other than what they can find in their area, and no means of getting home — except for, perhaps, the glyphs.

As they explore and try to expand their resources, characters may stumble upon clues as to what befell the civilization that came before them, as well as mystical symbols that grant an entire skill upon contact. They come in a variety of types, and may bestow abilities never seen before on a character's home world. But whether one exists that will return them to their rightful worlds is yet to be seen...

Vaidatha is looking to acquire a modteam! If you're interested and think you have what it takes, the following positions are open:

Application Mods

Welcome Wagon

Event Mods

Ombudsmen

Administrative Mods

For more information on the available positions and the game itself, check out the mod journal [personal profile] avaragarda

I've toyed with the idea of a sort of pop-idol game before...

Like, the characters are kidnapped and forced into a jamjar "talent agency," with different fields (singer, actor, entertainer, model, etc). They have to pick a role and perform occasionally. All for fun, bad or good.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)

Game Central

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to see a meme based on the Wreck-It Ralph concept of 'Game Central' here all video game characters can come together and hang out together (or go into each others games). Somehow non-VG characters could end up there which could have hilarious results.

Re: Game Central

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Non-VG characters can just have their canons be treated as if they were video games rather than TV shows or whatever, so nobody feels left out?

Question

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
What's the etiquette on copying a past meme? Say I want to post the Madoka meme again and use the one that someone did last month. Should I ask first? Should I just put in credit? Is it fine to just say I used an old one?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-11 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking as a meme writer, I would say that it's polite to PM and say, hey, I want to repost this meme, do you mind. Then if you don't get a response in a reasonable amount of time (say a day or two) then just repost it. Either way adding a note saying where you got it is, imnsho, quick and easy and courteous.

Some of my memes I want to rewrite before they're reposted, which is why I haven't reposted them myself, so if someone took a meme that I thought was cringe-worthy and tossed it back up without giving me the opportunity to edit a couple things I'd be a little displeased. Also, there's basic courtesy and manners, which, contrary to what some people on the internet seem to think, still applies even through a computer screen. It doesn't hurt you to take a few extra seconds and be polite. /soapbox
