Sometimes, no matter who you are, life is rough. You don't get a medal just for showing up - you have to work and work hard; a good deal of the time, that work doesn't even get acknowledged. All that grind, grind, grind, all for nothing. Or if it's not for nothing, it sure feels like it. And even if you were born with the silver-est of spoons placed between your privileged lips, it's still natural to have bad days. Yet pampered prince, magical girl, demon hunter, evil villain, or Starfleet captain alike, there's one place you should, ideally, be free from judgement, hate, and: home. Your domicile, your kingdom, where you can kick off your shoes. Okay, it may not be perfect and it may not be permanent (hotel rooms and campsites count), but it's somewhere to rest your head.

You know what's even better? Having someone to come home to who holds down the fort and will show you a little r-e-s-p-e-c-t when you come through the door. Even the baddest of dudes have a weakness for being taken care of. What's especially good? Having that person be your significant other. The cherry on the cake? When that significant other takes care of things like the traditional "housewife"/"househusband" image. Don't worry. Just because husband/wife is mentioned in those words, wedding bells need not ring. Your characters don't have to be married, want to get married, or even know what marriage is to play! All they need is someone to come home to and be with...

...and be with, after a long day of thinking about them.

To avoid being too long, this meme is about your haggard characters getting some much-deserved rest and to play the kinks associated with the concept of "housewife" (there needs to be a more gender neutral term) - doting from either side, reuniting, hurt/comfort, clothing kinks such as aprons or traditional housewife fare, touch and massage, foodplay, fixing or brushing of hair, bathing, bonding activities, claiming/possession, absence making the want grow fonder, one stoic partner who everyone thinks is above it being a secret sex maniac at home, taming (making one character the submissive "wife"), hyper-femininity/hyper-masculinity, adhering to assigned gender roles (or not!), and anything that involves playing up the "little wife" image in both characters eyes. Of course, how strictly these kinks are adhered to is strictly up to you. The characters could just be a loving couple where one treats the other to their body after a long day, who knows? Whether this is a reality between the two or some sort of kinky roleplay is equally up to you. Don't feel confined by anything! AUing is more than welcome, and the situation doesn't have to be romantic. Maybe the characters are just in it for release, or one of them is biting the hand that feeds. What can be more deliciously evil than a bad guy being terrible to their little "wife?" Or maybe that's the point all along: one character being humiliated by being stuck in that role is what the other wants.

Play it as fast and loose as you'd like. After all, home is where you can be yourself.

HOW TO PLAY

Comment with your character and preferences. Remember, things like risk of pregnancy or problematic implications could come with this meme as kinks, so be sure to at least mention what you absolutely do not want at all.
Mention which side of the equation you'd like to play - or both, if that's cool.
This meme runs on assumed CR and handwaved relationship, but mentioning that you're open to it can't hurt.

[Let's be honest. Arthur would be a terrible househusband. He can't cook, and doesn't really know how to clean. He'll happily provide for his home, make sure nothing is lacking, but beyond that, once he gets home he'd like to kick back and relax, banter with whoever maintains the house.]

[Merlin loves Arthur, and of course he loves that he's back, and that he's found a purpose for himself in this new future, where everything has changed.

And he doesn't mind falling back into the familiar role of a servant, with the addition of being able to use his magic and modern technology to make things get done quicker. Really, he doesn't, and there's still plenty of time in his day for the hobbies he's picked up over a couple millennia.

That all said, it drives him absolutely mad when Arthur forgets to take his boots off at the door and tracks mud on the carpet he just cleaned. It also drives him mad that it drives him mad, because really, he's seen sitcoms, he knows exactly what stereotype he's falling into. But he can't help looking up from his book and giving Arthur a dirty look over his shoulder as his king stomps through his nice, clean living room with his dirty shoes.]

We got the shoe basket for a reason, you know.

[It's taken some time to adjust, learning so many new things. Figuring out what to do with himself.

Arthur even allows that having Merlin with him is a massive relief. Even knowing the truth of his old servant's power. Sometimes he still forces himself to pause at an obvious display of magic, to remember the simple fact.

Merlin will not let him get hurt if it's within his power.

...Even when Arthur is being particularly ornery. And he knows exactly how to push Merlin's buttons.

So while he flings his wet coat over a chair on his way to the shower, he's not bothered to take his boots off yet. And there might be a little grin as he looks over his shoulder at Merlin.]

It's alright Merlin, you'll get it cleaned up in no time.

[Merlin's eye twitches, just a bit.

Why are you like this????]

I did get it cleaned up. About half an hour ago. If you're going to muck it up on purpose, you get to clean it!

[Because he's not actually Arthur's servant anymore, after all.]

Arthur does pause though, half turning to better talk to him, one hand coming to rest on his hip.]

One more time? Today, I mean.

Come on, I'll make it up to you.

[Because he can acknowledge sometimes he goes too far.

[Merlin's eyes flash gold and the aforementioned shoe basket flies over to smack Arthur in the arm insistingly.]

Boots off, Sire.

[No one else can put so much annoyance into so lofty a title.]

And put your coat in the closet.

[Huffs!!]

[He instinctively fends off the basket with a wordless protest just to protest, giving Merlin an exasperated look before making a show of carefully taking first one boot off, then the other, and putting them both in the basket.

Arthur even retraces his steps, without stepping back in his own muddy footprints, and sets the basket back by the door.

...And grabs his coat, again with a flourish, and walks to the closet to put it in place. He turns back to Merlin and raises a brow.]

Happy?

[Merlin shrugs, though a smile twitches at his lips. Of course he's all dramatic about Merlin's very reasonable requests.]

If you could just figure out how to do that soon as you come in, I would be.

[The next bit is grumbled out.] I'll clean it up while you shower, alright?

[Naturally! It's more fun this way, and generally earns him that smile he used to deny looking for.

He grins.]

Or you could clean it up later, and join me. [Something Arthur had never let himself even consider before these modern times.]

[This time Merlin laughs, about equal parts amused and annoyed.]

For future reference, giving me more work to do is not a good way of seducing me.

[That's not a no, but it's not a yes either. He still hasn't even marked his place in his book or gotten up from the couch.]
