[ Most times John Blake's relying on subtlety to get his point across, but that's rarely the case when it comes to sex. He's always been a bit free about it, and usually it's all behind closed doors, but meeting Flynn Rider has drawn something out in him. Not recklessness, but something of that ilk when you get down to brass tacks.

[ Being from a coed public school, Shoji is a little mystified by a single-gender school like everyone he attends his alma mater with. He participated in meeting with some pretty girls from one of the known all-girls schools in the city, as peer pressured by his male acquaintances to attend. Shoji was curious about the validity of the rumors saying how pretty these girls are - he wasn't going to lie, but it was more because he heard it's from the all-girls school that have magic-users attending it's classes. The news have been mentioning kidnappings of teenage girls have been rampant at the time, so Shoji figured it's a good way to keep an eye on some of the students at this school.

Fast-forward to the future, these meet-ups became a pretty regular thing between his group and another group of girls from the other school. It was how Shoji met Aki, and they managed to get to know each other a little better after an exchange of phone numbers. He accidentally sent Aki a risque text meant to be sent to her friend, but he apologized for the mix-up since apparently it was done intentionally by one of Aki's friends who want them to get along. It worked out, it seemed. Shoji found himself more drawn to Aki than the other girl, finding more fun in Aki's company since she was more comfortable around the boys than the other girls. Shoji himself didn't quite fit in with his crew. He's sociable and easy-going, yes, but he is still adjusting to Japanese culture. It's obvious from the way he moves and talks that he grew up overseas. So in a way, he and Aki were the odd ones in their respective groups.

Even with the kidnappings having stopped, Shoji continues to attend these meet-ups just so he can see Aki face to face. Finding themselves in a karaoke booth with their friends, Shoji sits quietly adjacent to Aki, with his eyes on his phone and sending Aki a quick text from across the table. ]
