[Nothing's been done to him yet, short of having a pair of threaded handcuffs locked around his wrists beneath the blaring light of the interrogation room. It washes over him with an almost unnatural brightness, bouncing off of ivory walls as though stepping through the threshold that separates him from the outside world is tantamount to walking into another reality altogether. There's a single camera in the corner of the room, peering down at Akira's chair from the ceiling -- the glare of red indicates that it's on, but Jyuto knows that it isn't actually transmitting anything to anyone besides himself. Call it a precaution.

As Jyuto steps over to the table and pulls out his own chair opposite Akira, his expression is calm, relaxed. Not intimidating at all, in spite of the circumstances. Others might like to play the roughhousing card right off the bat, but that's never quite been his style; there's no reason they can't both be reasonable adults about all of this, surely.

He sets down a preliminary manila folder of what little information they have, opened up to a very scant profile of the subject in question: "KURUSU, AKIRA," infamous in his own right, despite being cleared of all past smears against his name. Jyuto's never been involved in a case with him before, but he'd be lying if he didn't say he was intrigued by the concept of someone so young having such a serious list of offenses tacked onto their name. Why they're here now isn't any different; he'd been spotted sneaking around suspiciously, and even though the sizeable amount of weapons he'd been discovered carrying turned out to be little more than (very, very convincing) replicas, nobody was terribly willing to give someone with such a tremendous lucky streak the benefit of the doubt. Call that a matter of egoism.

As Jyuto sits down and crosses his legs neatly, he does what he always does: offers a polite smile, like this is just an everyday occurence between old friends.]

Are you comfortable, Kurusu-kun? I know the handcuffs can be a pain, but we're a bit too short-staffed at the moment to risk letting you move around freely. You understand, I'm sure. [It's almost apologetic. Similarly, another ritual: sliding out his ever-present pack of smokes, and offering one across the table to Akira, within his limited reach. He shouldn't, and he obviously doesn't care.]

[ A long drag on a cigarette and an exhale. The plume of smoke gives Spike room to roll his shoulders before he leans over, elbows on his knees, and peers at the Gren before him. On the table between them, a music box.

He hasn't been brought here out of any ill will. In fact, with most of the crew in and out of the ship and a small dog for company, the Bebop may be positively homey right about now, but Spike? He's tense. Shoulders squared, eyes flicking between the box on the table and Gren. ]

Nice box. [ Spike nods toward the instrument, pausing for another drag of his cigarette. Beyond initial, frantic exchanges as Gren was hauled aboard, it's one of the first things Spike's said.

But oh, the things that bubble up in his throat. The fire that blazes in his chest. He has words. He has questions, it's just a matter of picking the right ones. Like cherries, or apples. Flowers.

He could ask about the drugs. He should ask about the drugs, at least Jet would say so; anyone heavily involved in a trade like that would bring in a nice price, but Spike knows that Gren's value doesn't translate to woolongs.

So instead, he ashes his cigarette in a nearby tray and uses it to point to the box again. ]
