MORNING AFTER MEME

Last night was pretty wild, or maybe it wasn't. You have just woken up, but
you are not alone. Perhaps it is a stranger lying next to you, perhaps
it's someone you know. It might be your significant other, or a one
night stand. The fact remains that you are in bed together, naked and
something happened.

[ he never sleeps when he shares a bed (or couch) with bobbi. sometimes his sleep-snared mind plays tricks, convinces him he's somewhere or somewhen else. so, he prefers not to wake up to anyone, or to anything but an empty, familiar room.

but he never considers asking her to leave. even if he's exhausted, he drapes and arm around her and tugs her close, rests his chin against the top of her head, enjoys their lazy pillow talk and as much post-coital bliss as he can muster.

it's going on 5am and they're tangled together on his thrift-store mattress on the floor. morse is tucked up in under his arm, her cheek smushed (adorably) against his pectoral, one leg draped across him. apparently, he tired her out. he studies her occasionally with a bleary, lidded gaze, stifles his yawns, stares into the middle distance. there's still a lot of sex-stoked endorphins swimming in his bloodstream and a beautiful woman in his bed, so it's easy enough not to let himself descend into any morose thoughts.

unfortunately, it's easy, instead, to slowly descend into that gauzy haze between sleep and waking, ...

... to let himself drift, just a little, while he listens to bobbi's slow, shallow breathing ...

his eyelids are halfway to closing when an explosion loud enough to vibrate his molars thunders through the air. he's up quickly enough to give most men whiplash, quickly enough to jostle bobbi away from him, and he's thinking of the luftwaffe's heinkel he 111s and the dornier do 17zs flying over ready to annihilate everything in sight; of unloading the clip of his p220 - now in his hand, slid from under the mattress - into whomever might've broken down his door; of slitting throats with kitchen knives and securing doors and --

he's done a perimeter search of the whole damn apartment space before he realizes. it was only the garbage trunk, lifting and emptying a dumpster in the alley below. they're early, today. usually come at around 8. and ... this is embarrassing. back at the open bedroom door, he peers in and runs a hand through his hair, searching dumbly for a way to play this off. then he clunks the firearm down on his dresser, reaching around the doorframe. ]

Leo stirred, gently, arm draped over the other as he held him from behind, face pressed between the other's bare shoulder blades. His eyelashes slightly grazed the other's skin as he stirred, a small yawn coming from his mouth as subliminally, he tried to convince himself to have just a few more minutes next to the other, who was so warm, and smelled so, so good. ]

[ There is a long way from Paris to Gotham, but the Duke had sent her to visit a client on the East Coast and afterwards, he'd granted her some time to herself, her flight home booked for a few days later. She wakes up in a foreign bed, but Marguerite Gautier wakes up in foreign beds quite often, it's no new sensation. Making a soft sound of contentment, she rolls onto her side, blinking her eyes open and coming face to face with the strong lengths of a very male back. She can tell she's naked, but Marguerite Gautier often is, it's nothing to unsettle her. Inching closer to her companion with the godly muscles, she drapes herself along the slope of his backside, chin coming to a rest against his shoulder. She'll give him this much and he shan't even have to pay. ]
