At some point in your life you're given a choice. It's a pivotal choice. You can change the entire course of your life with it. Life or death, glory or ruin, good or evil. Which will you choose? Hopefully it's the right decision.
This meme is for the concept of choice and your characters making decisions. Say there's a point in canon where they're given a choice and they take one. What would happen if they took the other? What would change? Would things go better or worse? Explore at your leisure. Alternatively, come up with a new choice to make. Which is more likely? Which is more exciting? Explore both in different threads if you want! No one can tell which is the right decision but you.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
• Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops. • Reply to other people's top levels! • Have fun!
[ many choices. he decided not to carry on the belmont tradition at all after his family was killed. he lived a clean life rather than becoming a drunk and did monster hunting without the jaded attitude. he decides it's not worth it to help people after all and fucks off out of gresit.
or your character's choices could be the changing ones. ]
{ Through whatever slight alteration of canon events - maybe not a change of her own decision so much as a little difference in the course of events, like if she hadn't been fast enough to get upstairs - Lily is not able to protect Harry ; he dies, and she is spared. Bring on the angst. Preference for other HP muses. Multimuse blog x }
[Possible scenarios: -doesn't join the Avengers after Secret Wars -Sides against Carol immediately during Civil War II and probably gets arrested for it -stays with the Inhumans
... And that's it. Come at me with different scenarios if you can think of them? ]
[Scenarios: -joins the Hand willingly after discovering she is the Black Sky -refuses to seduce Matt as a teenager -runs away after her resurrection rather than stay with Alexandria
[Scenarios: -doesn't marry Anakin at the end of Episode 2 -accepts Anakin's offer to rule the galaxy together -stays for the vote and ruins Palpatine's life -runs away and raises the twins on her own ]
( could include: what if he'd never become high commander. what if he'd sworn allegiance to noctis from the start. what if he'd escaped with lunafreya. what if he didn't take the ring. open to other suggestions as well. )
[ So. There's only, I don't know, a ridiculous amount of options here. Some possible options to play with:
- Events on Starkiller happen differently - Events at the temple happen differently (like idk maybe Luke tries to help her deal with Snoke instead of try to kill her, there's a thought) - She tells someone about Snoke's "appearance" rather than keeping it to herself - Carnage at the temple still happens but she doesn't go to the First Order - She refuses to go through with Jedi training and runs off to follow in her father's footsteps (aka the smuggler option) - After killing Snoke, she leaves with Rey - ... or doesn't and kills Hux as well - She manages to kill Snoke sooner - At some point she breaks away from the First Order - ... or runs off at some point in her youth
Again, just a few options off the top of my head. In all seriousness I'm down for just about any/all canon divergences and shenanigans, so feel free to suggest something I haven't mentioned. ]
[Possible options include: - The twins are rescued from HYDRA-masquerading-as-SHIELD by the Avengers soon after the events of TWS and are able to be reasoned with - Wanda remains at the compound (either refusing to leave with Clint or because Clint never comes to get her), does not participate in the airport battle, and is never thrown in the Raft - She refuses to even try to destroy the Mind Stone and turns her full power on Thanos, either killing him herself or forcing him to focus on her so exclusively that someone else can kill him - ...or Thanos still takes the Mind Stone but Wanda rips the Gauntlet off him in a fit of rage and tries to put everything back. - look Wanda's just had an awful time and I am all about Wanda x happiness AUs; hit me
Shipping prefs are here and I'm happy to come up with some character-specific AUs!]
[mumbles about happy aus, something something, handwaves and everyone is alive]
Clint shows up, and asks them to come. Pietro - never returned to active duty, still struggling with his steps, still dealing with the after affects of pain in his chest, does not rise from his chair. No, he says, and Wanda's choice reflects his. They watch the fight at the airport on the television, and Pietro squeezes Wanda's hand. Something inside of him twists when he looks at the fight, something that says, we should have been there. It would have been the right choice. Clint is locked up, and Steve disappears, and Pietro asks, when will the trial be, and the answer makes his blood run cold. On some excuse, he pulls Wanda outside, away from Vision and Tony, makes sure no one else can hear. "Wanda, we can't- The Accords, yes, we can sign those but... They're just going to lock the others up forever without a trial?"
(Alarye is an OC hailing from the Final Fantasy Ivalice Alliance series that centers around the peninsula of Ivalice. His backstory is loosely tied with that of FFXII and yes, he's a viera. For information, check here)
(There's so many scenarios I want to play out. I simply can't just pick one but imagine if Regis had managed to stop the Empire's invasion into Tenebrae. So much would've changed.)
[ I'd love to explore an option where she finished school and went on to study at university as she intended to when she was younger, going on to join an orchestra of some description. Or even have her continuing to waitress, and playing/writing music on the side, busking, playing at bars/cafes. These options would likely mean her father was still alive, so there'd be that baggage to contend with, but at least this version of her would be murder-free!
TL;DR music is what she loves, having the choice to do that would be lovely. As a side note, that'd also mean that she would still have her original last name, Loveless. ]
[The obvious possible scenario here is "what if someone got to Lisa before the Bishop of Targoviste managed to, y'know, all of that, but I'm open to pretty much anything you want to throw at me!
The only thing I'm not particularly interested in is "what if Lisa never went to Dracula to become a doctor" unless you've got an equally self-advancing angle for her to take instead, but outside of that, I'm game!]
[Could be: - an evil John that went to Hell to become a demon - insane John - evil John with no real regard for life - superhero - never learned magic but it manifests in strange ways
open to other versions of Constantine, evils, etc]
- Thread where Chris never lost her parents and become a member of S.O.N.G./student of Lydian on her own - Thread where Chris never accepted Hibiki's offer of friendship to save the world and stayed an antagonist trying to change the world by force - Thread where Chris was injured in battle and could no longer fight anymore - Thread where Chris was part of the F.I.S. program along with Maria, Kirika, and Shirabe
That's just a few options. If you have any others, let me know.]
[Up to try a lot of different things, but a couple options off the bat:
1. Barry is struck by lightning and gets the awesome powers you'd expect from being struck by lightning, like mood swings, memory loss, balance issues, and a gnarly Lichtenberg figure scar.
2. Barry gets some kind of powers other than superspeed.
3. Evil/morally dubious Barry?? Don't lie she'd be awesome
[OOC: Hmmm... what if it's not about decisions? Maybe I shouldn't post this one here. But it's about not his decision. Hmm.... IDEK if this applies to the meme. Maybe just ignore this. Or can do it elsewhere.
Once upon a time, there was Loki Laufeyson.
Who was born a dwarf, so his father wasn't especially pleased. He left him in the Temple, so that the gods may show mercy and either let the wrongly born bastard die or let him grow proper size.
Neither of these happened. And before somebody else could pick the boy up---
A woman picked him up. Hyrokkin. (Or Hyrrokin. Don't ask me about spelling.) She already had eleven children, what was one more? And besides, how could one just leave somebody like that too die. King's blood. And an innocent child, at that.
He would know he was king's blood, because it was his birthright. She loved him, and when he was fifteen years old, she told him he was of royal blood. Laufeyson.
"Alright. But I'm Hyrokkinson first."
And that was that.
Until somebody from Laufey's court saw Loki. Loki, who, not counting size, bore a great resemblance to Laufey and Laufey's other sons.
And then Laufey came to pick Loki up. It all happened a few hundred years later. /ooc]
[['Never leaves her family and gets married' would be the most likely option, though 'actively joined the Order in either the First or Second War' could also work.]]
[[There's plenty of options, so here's a few: - Never got to go to Hogwarts - Got taken in by Voldemort's promises to make things better for dark creatures and became a Death Eater. (I'm not super interested in him being the traitor who turns in James and Lily, but maybe never making friends with the rest of them, or not as close friends, or something.) - For something that affects the world on a larger scale, maybe one where he became the Potters' secret keeper instead?
-- but I'm up for other options if you've got something in mind, so hit me up.]]
