interested: what better way to ask somebody out on a date than presenting them with collateral?
courtship: you're old-fashioned - or from an old-fashioned society - and to pursue someone, you have to present them with a gift to make your intentions known.
serious: be it an engagement present or something else, you want your special someone to realize that you want to take things to the next level.
ownership: the present's twofold; it also shows everyone else that this person is yours.
apologize: oh. you've really, really screwed up. can you make it up to them?
special occasion: ordinary gifts won't do for a birthday, anniversary, or wedding.
homemade: this is no purchased trinket. you made it with your own two hands.
priceless: the item you give came at great cost, is an heirloom, or previously owned by someone you love.
gag gift: ...hopefully they won't kill you.
gift gone wrong: or be killed, maimed, or deeply offended by your gift.

[ Horror/Crime/Thriller books are always a good shout, or anything photography related. If she's the one giving a gift...honestly it'd depend on who was tagging her and what they'd appreciate, as she prefers giving thoughtful gifts! ]
