little steps No matter how much they care for the other person and want to be with them, some people simply can't dive head first into relationships. Little things that form intimacy and romance, little acts we take for granted - being close, holding hands, kissing, showing affection in public - they won't or can't do...at least not right off the bat. Something in their past, their experiences, their trauma, or even their personality holds them back. For both them and the person they're "dating," as it were, this can lead to a frustrating experience. Still, steps can be taken towards letting the walls fall down. Little, tiny steps, but those can mean the world all the same. The People One With the help of a partner, one person warms up. Two Both sides of this couple are learning how to be in a relationship and to be open. The Actions Talking → A relationship can't exist if there's not some communication, so either learn to use your words or become so close you can speak without them. Spending Time → Even such mundane occurrences as watching TV or cooking together is new ground. Touching → You might just find you enjoy reaching out and touching them. Kissing → Another kind of touch, when you think about it. Cuddling → ...at least they're warm and, hopefully, soft. Sleeping → You're at your absolute weakest when you're asleep. It shows trust to doze off around this person. Public Display → It's one thing to be in love in private, but showing you care in public is a different story. Kind Words → Three little words (more or less) are all it takes. Why, then, are they so hard to get out? Sex The ultimate stumbling block to some. To be laid blissfully bare is to truly let your guard down.

[The new planet is beautiful. It looks like what Earth should have looked like. The trees are pointy and full. The water is clear, maybe even a little blue in some places. They were dropped down about a week ago-- Spacekru and the remaining 100.

It was cold, but not too cold. Just enough that his jacket kept him warm. A blanket would have been nice. Maybe a body near him. Immediately, his eyes slide over to Emori, sitting near him. She has tortured him since they got back. Maybes. Ifs. Buts. He has to make a gesture. He has to show her he's changed. That he loves her.

Murphy leans his head against her thigh. He wants to bring his hand up between her thighs but waits to see what happens first.]

[ She had been hopeful, wanted to touch her boots onto the ground. Through her excitement, Emori remembers taking Murphy's hand into her own and give him a reassuring squeeze.

That was hours ago and now they were huddled together, Murphy just below her. Her attention is up at the night sky where the stars were all different. She smiles at herself only to blink when there's a weight of warmth on her thigh. ] Don't tell me you're tired already?

[ Their relationship has a lot of issues, most of them stemming from the sheer difference between their personalities and Sanzo's stubborn inability to handle Hazel's bullshit. Tonight is the perfect example. This is supposed to be his reading time, meaning his chance to drink and smoke without being pestered while a book sits neglected on the table, but Hazel has selfishly turned it into cuddle time. No amount of shrugging or shifting or tchs helps. It's almost like the more Sanzo shows his annoyance, the more determined Hazel is to maintain contact. ]

Hey. I need a smoke.

[ That's the same excuse he used fifteen minutes ago. The smell of smoke is still fresh on his clothes. Hm. His glass is still full of booze too, so that's not a decent excuse to wriggle free either. Sanzo shrugs his shoulders one last time, tries to sit up, and meets with the expected resistance of somebody lying against him with their arms wrapped around his. Maybe he ought to throw in another excuse for good measure. ]

Ryuji had made sure to take a shower and try his best to make his hair look okay, it was almost all black now and after looking at himself on the mirror in an ensemble he wouldn't have thought about wearing on a normal day - pants that actually fit his legs and weren't jeans, a blue button up (thanks Ann) and a black, fit jacket- he was satisfied.

He picked the envelope with his letter and the flowers he'd picked and took one last final sigh before he went on the most uncomfortable train ride of his life (he didn't want the bouquet to get squished by someone leaning too heavily on him). He looked online for hours on end and tried to pick each of them carefully: purple hyacinth because it meant forgiveness, white orchids because they meant beauty and elegance which was just like Yusuke. Gardenias because they signified "secret love" which seemed appropriate, and right in the middle there were purple and white lilies, which he didn't really know the meaning to but he thought looked really pretty and complemented the bouquet. He didn't know if Yusuke would think it was pretty but-- Ryuji would explain the meaning of the flowers if necessary.

When he got off the train, the flowers were still intact. He walked into campus before curfew so there were few students still walking around. he managed to sneak undetected, until he reached the dorms. By some kind of divine intervention or maybe dumb luck, he got to Yusuke's door without being found by a prefect. He took another breath, shook his head to ease his nerves and straightened his back before he knocked.

God he hoped this would work, the idea of being just friends with Yusuke, as pacifist as it was it just wasn't right. He'd never want to stop being friends but Ryuji was definitely in love with him. He had no doubt of it. And Yusuke was too, there was no reason for them not to be together. He waited for a bit and no one answered at the door but he didn't dare to knock again yet.

Okay, maybe he isn't home? that's weird.
