The instant someone caught onto them, of course Darcy would be in danger. He had simply assumed the danger would be far more external. Instead, a lone, foolish agent had shoved his way into the lab with Darcy tight against his chest, a gun pressed to her head.

He'd had demands, all centered on Loki being a danger, on him leaving Earth "in peace". Loki'd only "listened" in order to get the man to drop his guard, and the instant he did, he'd flung a knife into the center of the man's forehead. He crumpled, nearly dragging Darcy down with him, but Loki was there, catching her and pulling her to his chest.]

Captain Marvel is stunned and slumped against a wall. He took a pretty heavy hit. He isn't used to someone being strong enough to punt him like that. Still he is able to push himself up and sends Mercy a nod.

He might be stuck in this weird world for a while but that doesn't mean he can just sit back and do nothing while there are so many people that needs his help. Thankfully he has gotten away with not letting the local heroes in on the fact he's about twelve.

"Thanks Mercy. Needed that. How many more do we have?" He pops his neck to work out a kink. He's pretty sure there are only three more check points to get through.

[ He and Diana volunteered for the long shifts; Bruce has work and a few culprits to hunt down, they gave him all they could already from the site of the explosion. Clark combed it for evidence, and Diana questioned the witnesses. Now all they've got to do is wait: two separate rooms, two injured supersoldiers. They switch over every couple of hours or so, moving quietly from room to room. ]

[ He's settled in, expecting several hours of his senses zeroed in on Barnes's breathing, when he stirs. Clark listens for the nearest nurse, and crosses to the bedside table. He shouldn't wake up in restraints, surrounded by strangers, and he isn't, but there's still the hospital-smell in the room, the steady beeping of the machines that surround him. ]

Purge night is the best night of the year for Sean. Best night of the year for a lot of people, though most of them are participating honestly. Sean can't really stand it, y'know, all that killing for the sake of it. He's pretty sure the reasoning behind it is bullshit too, since most of his job is doing illegal shit all year long. But the thing about Purge night is that everyone pays a premium, so as long as he does four or five jobs, the money he gets is enough that he can pay his rent for six months and still have plenty left over for some nice things. Plus, he can send some home to help out with ma, and that also helps a little with some of the guilt he feels for participating at all.

He's got most the stuff off his list tonight - took a few packages across the city whose contents he didn't need to know about, stopped by to collect a debt from someone who thought they were above paying it, and made sure someone was dead. He got lucky there - the fellow was already dead when Sean showed up, so all he had to do was take a photo and text it to the person paying him, and grab a trophy, which was a literal trophy in this case, for bowling. Did anyone actually bowl? Was this some kind of ironic thing? Jesus, who knew? Best not to ask.

He's on the way to the last one of the night when he comes around a corner, and sees a disaster. Someone's gone ahead and plowed a kitted out semi-truck into a blue school bus. Jesus. What a nightmare. There's bodies on the ground and fellows in masks going to town on a bunch of people dressed in blue and flowers. Sean grimaces and quickly shifts the pickup truck into reverse to get out of there. It's the only night of the year he drives, so it takes him a moment to figure out how to do it in the automatic-

Sean catches a glimpse out of the corner of his eye. It's a young girl, dressed in blue like the rest. But the look on her face...

It reminds him of his sister. He shouldn't. That semi looks like it can still drive. If he takes away a kill from the kind of bastard who drives that thing, they might come after him. Best that he just looks away, drives away, leaves her to die. Jesus... It's the smart thing to do. It's the smart thing, Sean, so just... look away...

Fuck, fuck, fuck! He can't. Jesus of course he can't, because he's an idiot. "Hey!" Sean yells out, poking his head out the window and shouting at the girl. "Hey! Come on! You need to get out of here!"

And he reaches across the seats, popping open the door on the other side, hoping she'll take the invitation. He's a stranger, and there's no promise he's any less dangerous than the fellows in masks, but sometimes on Purge night, you've got to take whatever salvation you're given.

[ It's not his fault. This is supposed to be a temporary arrangement to accompany Ryan for treatment, only it's the first time Clark's really ever been in a big city. It takes getting used to — he finds the cacophony keeps him up as much as his excitement. If his head turns every time he hears a siren, or a scream... ]

[ Really, it's an excuse to explore. Sneaking out at night, at first, is just a bad habit. After that, it's an excuse to spend time outdoors, he's more than boxed up, in the little apartment. And then there's the parkour, because why not? Everything's packed, and it's a good view from upstairs, he can stay hidden where he likes and watch people below. Things he never thought — or could've experienced — in Smallville. Stuff to explore, dig up, he has a knack for knowing where it all is, and for going into places others don't seem to want to go. The Narrows is dangerous — Clark doesn't really put much effort into feeling threatened. He's been looking through the old theatre, delighted by the treasures he finds there. ]

[ And he's usually alone. Not today, when there's someone sneaking through the place, someone very quiet. Clark ducks, listening, looking through the walls for the intruder. ]

[ An ambush. Not unusual around these parts. What is unusual is that Iorveth manages to overlook the archer's presence until it's too late; he hears the release of the draw string just as he finishes taking out a bandit. Head whipping towards the sound, the elf drops the bandit's corpse and dashes towards the archer's back, blade sinking into his side. The archer screams but is quickly silenced when Iorveth slits his throat. He shoves the body off of his sword, leaving them to bleed out in the dirt. Sweeping the area, it's clear they've finished off the pack; however, when he turns towards Hawke, he does a double take. He realizes then that he did not act fast enough. ]

( there was an explosion. a job gone wrong in the worst possible way that led to them nearly falling to their deaths. jason--managed to grab onto bruce in time, was already in the clearing himself so it wasn't--too big of a deal. something fell, knocked bats pretty hard in the head (thank you cowl, for always being there for them) but there wasn't too much damage.

it's lucky for both of them that jason didn't get it too bad. that he managed to grab on and wrapped an arm around bruce's midsection, the other holding onto an arm and keeping it over his shoulder as he drags both of them out of the wreckage. he gives a gentle shake to bruce's shoulders, enough to get his attention, before he's opening his mouth and yammering: )
