The Dating Meme

Dating is, when you think about, really weird. It's a totally different thing for different people. Some are friends for years before they date; others start dating on the same day they met. Sometimes, there's a lot mushy stuff involved; other times, the couple acts just like friends. None of this is necessarily right or wrong.
Whatever it is, your character and the character you reply to are now dating. How? That's up to you. Whether it be awkward or not, the relationship will be uniquely theirs.
How to Play
-Comment with your character and preferences.
-Reply to others.
-Have fun.
Prompts
1. Best Friends to More: Oh, wow, you've been this person's friend forever! But then you realize you have feelings for them, and they for you. Will things change when you change your status?
2. The Sudden Decision: Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here I am, date me maybe?
3. Confession: You've had feelings for this person for, like, ages, and you want to ask them to date you. Or maybe the confession just slips out...
4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!
5. I Guess We're Dating: Huh. We are dating, aren't we? Everyone else knew before us...
6. Slow Decision: For the more mature and seasoned, they might fall into something sweet without needing to rush.
7. Been Burned Before: One of you has had a bad relationship, and now both of you have to bear that brunt if you want to date now.
8. Innocence: This is your first real relationship, so you have to figure it out together. That's harder than it looks.
9. Courting: You're from an old-fashioned world or are old-fashioned yourself, so it's courting, not dating. Still, maybe you can sneak away from the chaperon.
10. First Date: Your first true date. What's it like? What would happen if...I don't know...it went bad?
11. First Kiss: Of course.
12. First Time: Together or in general.
13. The Perfect Couple: The couple that never argues and is more like best friends than a couple.
14. The Not-So-Perfect Couple: Ugh, these guys always argue and seem to despise each other. Why are they even together?
15. Comfortable: You can do anything around or in front of your honey.
16. Not Cut Out for Dating: One of you is anti-social, a jerk, a stoic badass, whatever. You're not dating material...yet here you are.
17. Getting on Each Others' Nerves: Spending too much time together can get even the most patient people annoyed with the person they're dating.
18. Know What You Like: It's almost like they can read your mind, whether it be in the kitchen, at the store, or in the bedroom.
19. Trouble in Paradise: Maybe it's external factors, or perhaps internal, but whatever the case may be, things aren't looking so sunny.
20. Test the Strength: Someone else has an obvious crush on the person you're dating. What do you do?4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!
5. I Guess We're Dating: Huh. We are dating, aren't we? Everyone else knew before us...

21. Pregnancy Scare: Hey, it happens. So, how do you feel when the period turns up missing?
22. Getting Serious: Things are getting way deep with this person. They may be the one...or maybe they think they are, while you're not too sure.
23. Old Hat: This relationship is dull. Can you get back the spark?
24. End It: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to see other people.
25. Taking It to the Next Level: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to marry them.

Hello again! 1 and 3 perhaps?
His left arm has hidden something very special under his sleeve, walking on the garrison's empty hallway for what felt to be a very long time, putting his gaze around, scanning for any sign of the young Altean with his own reflexes. Maybe it wasn't the best time for something more...intimate. But their relationship has blossomed into something far more beautiful his heart desired to have someone that could be on his side till the end. His players would be answers before sporting who he was looking for nearby.
“Have I caught you at a bad time, pretty gold?”
Charlemagne called softly after spotting the gorgeous blonde with his ocean colored orbs, making his expression form a friendly yet honest smile. His heart fluttered slowly every single moment his eyes laid eyes on her. No matter if the conversation was short, or very lengthy. The fact of being with her often brought a sense of accomplishment within the young man's pride.

"Not at all. In fact you couldn't have caught me at a better one."

His hand finally moved in front, revealing a small, blue gem on a necklace with wings over it. A gift symbolizing the wings of the paladin always being with her. “I thought it was time to give this to you, Romelle.”

Thaniel frowns up at the ceiling, mind racing while Mori is still asleep and thus not tangentially following along his thoughts. He's been up for almost two hours, attempting to puzzle out this issue he's come into. Sadly, for all his effort, he's no closer now than he'd been at the start.
It is frustrating being in a relationship with a clairvoyant, Thaniel's discovered. Not because of a perceived lack of privacy (which was once what Thaniel had thought would be the concern), but rather because you were constantly competing against yourself at every decision. Thaniel can barely pick out groceries at the market without wondering if some other timeline's version of himself grabbed a radish instead of a beet and somehow created a better, more spectacular meal from the choice.
Indeed, just last week he'd gotten a promotion and decided to grab a cake from the store to celebrate. He'd taken an hour trying to decide between one with a swan and another with candied persimmon. The worst part was that he'd come home and been certain he'd selected the wrong one simply by trying to read Mori's expression to see if he could register disappointment.
It is infuriating. It is impossible. The only person who knows where every path leads is Mori. Thaniel is just left taking his best guess and hoping it is the right one.
Which leads to this morning. Six is going to be invited to spend the day and night with a local girl at her house which provides them with some priceless privacy. It is the perfect opportunity for a cautious outing, just the two of them. But Thaniel, thoughtlessly, had offered to make the plans.
And now he is trapped.
He turns, staring out the window at the beautiful day, wondering which out of the many ideas in his head leads to the best outcome. Mori likely knew them all. Was probably hoping for one over another. He purses his lips, aggravation and self-disgust bringing up the desire to just call the whole thing off, simply to surprise Mori at long last.
But then again, he'd probably have seen that coming as well.
"Christ," he curses softly, scrubbing a hand over his face. There had to be a way out of this. He is just overthinking it. Sadly, that did nothing to help him at all.
Maybe he should just flip a coin. At least then he can blame someone other than himself if it's all wrong...

He understood, also, that Thaniel knew Keita couldn't help it. He could no more turn off his clairvoyance than he could teach a fish to breathe air. But that seemed to do little to quell Thaniel's growing frustration with their relationship.
And of course, Keita could do nothing, could say nothing to assuage it. When so much of it came from Keita's foreknowledge of events, predicting and precluding an argument about it would only seem like expressing dissatisfaction with the way Thaniel conducted himself--that is to say, exactly what Thaniel was so worried about.
And right now, he's worrying so loudly. It was the way Thaniel rolled away from him to look out the window that had woken Keita up, but it's the way Thaniel changes his mind back and forth that keeps him awake.
Quietly, Keita rolls as well, brings one hand up to touch the warm, bare skin of Thaniel's back. How can he possibly find the words to explain how little the flavor of cake matters when it's Thaniel he's sharing it with? "You're awake," he says, staying where he is for now--his head on the pillow, still half-cocooned in the warmth of the blankets.
no subject
Thaniel turns at the words. For a moment, the storm clouds on his mind cover his face entirely. But then Keita is looking at him all sleep-warm and troubled in his own way. Thaniel can't help but give his lover a smile and turn toward him, pressing a chaste kiss to his forehead. His fingertips brush against his hair, smoothing it back. Thaniel knows that Mori is at least partially aware of what's on his mind so he does his best to divert his attention from it. It takes more effort than it should.
"I am," he confirms needlessly. "I must have woken you. I'm sorry." An unkind part of his mind wants to ask whether there was a timeline where Thaniel was able to just come to decisions and let his lover sleep in. As soon as he thinks of it, he knows the possibility of it must crop up in Mori's head. It's as good as him out right saying it, he feels.
The frustration comes back into his throat to be swallowed down again. This isn't Keita's fault. It's his. Thaniel leans to press another apologetic kiss, this time to Keita's lips.
"I am still trying to come up with something good for today. I'm just...making it harder than it likely needs to be."
no subject
"It's all right," is what Keita says instead of any of that. As soon as Thaniel thinks about asking, Keita hears the conversation play out, but he doesn't let it reflect on his face--instead he studies Thaniel's, until his eyes close just a moment before their lips meet.
Would that they could just do this all day, instead. Keita opens his eyes when they part and looks up at Thaniel, offers him a rare smile. "Would you stop worrying about it for a moment and kiss me again if I asked you to?" he says, his voice soft--partly out of habit, partly because there's a future where Thaniel says yes and a future where he says no, and at the moment they hang in equal balance until Thaniel's mind is made up.

So she's not really sure what gets into her one day, after the club activity for the afternoon has wrapped up. Maybe it's because graduation is only a month away, or maybe it's the pep-talks that Shion and Rena have been giving her whenever the topic comes up. Or maybe it's just because it's a secret that's been eating away at her for over a year now. It's honestly miserable, always second-guessing her interactions with him and worrying that she's let on about her feelings. Maybe it's better to get it all out in the open, just rip that band-aid off once and for all.
Worst-case, they'll only have to deal with the awkwardness until she graduates, and then they probably will barely see each other at all for a few years. That's got to be plenty of time for things to blow over, assuming their friendship can survive the distance in the first place. In some ways, it'd been almost tempting to wait until she was literally about to catch a train to whatever university she wound up at - say her goodbyes to her friends, and then surprise him with a quick kiss before jumping aboard and never mentioning it again. But that idea isn't really fair to him. He wouldn't want to kiss her in the first place, and doing something like that in public would only lead to rumors spreading.
So, it's a purely selfish impulse. It's burdening him with her feelings when he doesn't want them, to avoid suffocating under the weight of them any longer. But at least she'll be able to tell herself that she tried, that she took that chance even when it was doomed to fail. Doesn't mean she's not going to cry and enjoy the cold comfort of ice cream once she's safely home and alone, but it's still something. ]
Hey, Kei-chan... can you stay behind for a couple of minutes? This old man's got something he needs to talk with you about.
[ ...She internally winces at calling herself an old man again - it's the last way she wants him to see her - but it's not like she has much of a choice. She was too far into it by the time she realized she was falling for him, and unfortunately you don't get a reset button when it comes to relationships. So she has to keep it up to seem normal, both for his sake and for their friends'. The fewer people who know what she's planning on, the better. ]

During the time since they came together to stop Takano's plans, Keiichi has been trying to get used to the idea of being the club president once Mion graduates. It's hard enough living with the idea of being class representative, but to be entrusted with something so dear to her is a great sign of trust. He doesn't feel prepared for it, but he wants to do his best.
And that's why when she asks him to stay back, he assumes that she wants to talk about the club. Maybe she needs to give him some important wisdom, or maybe she's nervous about her exams. While she ahsnt been the ideal student, she's still showing enough of an improvement that he's confident she'll do well. But for some reason, she seems really nervous about something.
Of course, being nervous isn't something that comes easily to Mion. She's always so confident and full of enthusiasm. It's honestly a little annoying when she's his opponent in a club activity, but outside of that, it's admirable. And even during club activities, when he's usually the target of her very specific attacks, he still finds her enthusiasm to be an endearing quality overall.
Then, however, there are moments like this. She seems more unsure of herself, nervous and somewhat vulnerable. Or there are the few occasions he's seen her get embarrassed, her face lighting up like a neon light. He'd be lying if he said that there wasn't something endearing about that, too. ]
Huh? Oh, sure, Mion. What do you wanna talk about?
[ The more he thinks about it, the more convinced he is that she's nervous about her exams. He's helped her by tutoring her after school, sometimes alone and sometimes with Rena helping out. She's done fine lately, even surprising him a few times by mumbling out the correct answer to a complicated question. But it's natural to get nervous about something so big coming up. He'll just do his best to reassure her. ]

So she'll have to dodge the subject for now. It's the only way to be truthful without letting the whole club in on this secret of hers. Some of their friends are already shooting her curious looks. Plus, it's not exactly out of character for her to tease him by prolonging the suspense, so she can lean on that to hopefully make it seem natural. ]
Hey, hey, don't be impatient! You'll find out soon enough~
[ Which is probably enough of a clue for him that, whatever this is, it's something she doesn't want to bring up in front of the others. If she's lucky, he'll think it's some sort of special club president secret that she's passing down to him in advance of the transition - not that any such thing exists.
Once their friends have finished filtering out of the schoolhouse, though, she has no excuses left for postponing things. They're alone, and she's already committed to confessing - she's made up her mind, arranged to get him alone, and he's definitely wondering just what this is all about. There's no sense in getting cold feet now. ]
So... about why I asked you to stay behind. I, um, have something I need to tell you.
[ If she wasn't visibly nervous before, she sure as hell is now, all bravado melting away in the face of this challenge. Ironic, that staring down the barrel of a gun was nothing, but staring down her crush is absolutely terrifying.
She tries to remind herself that, if this all goes horribly wrong, at least she'll only have to interact with him for a few months longer. Then she'll go off to university, and he'll go off the year afterward, and probably move back home to the city and forget all about her and Hinamizawa in the first place. The embarrassment might haunt her for a few years, but odds are he'll forget about it pretty quickly. Still, the thought doesn't help much. ]
no subject
By then, Rena and the others have left, and he has the chance to wonder just what she wants to talk to him about again. His first guess is that it's about him becoming the club president or class representative after she graduates. His second is that she might need to ask a favor of him, perhaps more tutoring for her exams. Neither of them are entirely unreasonable assumptions, but it hasn't even occurred to him that she might have another reason for wanting to talk to him alone... well, one that doesn't involve either punishment games or just wanting to hang out.
And now that she's starting to open up, he finally notices just how nervous she is. Mion isn't the sort of person to get nervous a lot, and during the few instances that she has, it's usually been about school. But this looks a little different, like she's actually having a moment of pure adrenaline. His face softens in concern as she speaks, and though he still doesn't have any inkling of what she wants to tell him, the least he can do is hear her out. ]
Alright. You can tell me anything, Mion. I promise.
[ It's clearly something she just wants to share with him, but he has no idea just how serious it is. She was putting on a brave face before, but this is really bothering her. Right now, he can only assume that it's something very serious. ]
