The Intimacy Meme

The Intimacy Meme

(Shamelessly taken from... all the rest and modified!)

Intimacy is the glue of any relationship, albeit romantic or friendship. It's getting to the root of humanity, and expanding upon ourselves and letting others in.

Rules:
1. Post with your character.
2. Go to
rng and roll from 1-6.
3. Post to others.
4. Profit

Scenes:
1. First Kiss. Maybe you've been harboring feelings or maybe this is random. But it feels good to be that close to someone.

2. Love Confession. You have been head over heels for this person and now it's time to try and get close to them.

3. Secrets. You've been hiding yourself from someone and now it's time to stop. They need to know the real you.

4. First Time. First time you have sex is always nerve racking, but it's in these moments that you show how much you truly care about someone.

5. Shower. Perhaps you've been together for awhile. Maybe you've told each other everything. Maybe you're just dirty and need to get cleaned up. But letting the water flow between two people is still pretty intimate.

6. Post-Coital Bed. Do you feel talkative after sex? Want to ponder the meaning of life / if you guys are more than a one-night stand? Better to do it after the deed probably.. at least your partner will be in a good mood?

7. Road Trip. Good for that bonding experiance you never had! Bad diner food and weird landmarks you never knew you wanted to see! Will it bring you closer to your friend / lover?

8. Drunk. Are you the happy or sad kind? Clingy, or flighty? Maybe you just need a hug, to snuggle close.. to whoever's around at the time!

9. Winter. What could be a better time to curl up with a book, or exchange soft words in the glow of the fire? Hot chocolate time!

10. Free verse.
Did I leave something out? Want to combine? Make up your own or pick from the others.

[Emma almost says Paige, but she catches herself and nods.]

Grace.

[ His lips twist wryly, though his expression softens considerably. ]

How do you describe the most important person in your life? She's...everything a father could hope for. She kind, clever...she's always had a head for telling amazing stories. She'd always insist on having these tea parties with the stuffed animals I made for her...

[ That smile fades. Something rises in the back of his throat, hard as a rock, but he swallows to force it back down again. ]

And she'd never complained. She understood the way we had to live, back then. If we couldn't afford a toy she really wanted or a new dress, she'd always...give me this smile. Like she was trying to be brave and grown-up about it. She'd say she didn't really need it anyway.

[ He knows he can't live in what-ifs forever, but there's so much he wishes he could have done for her. So much he wishes he could give her now, but he's seen her with her new family. He knows she wants for nothing.

All I need is you, Papa.

Nothing.

She doesn't even know he's gone. ]

Brave and grown up is rare for a kid.

[But she sees that in Henry too, and it scares her. There are times when the curse is the only thing that makes him sound like a kid. The rest of the time, he's busy worrying about everyone else, following her around and trying to fix all of their problems.]

It sounds like you were good to her.

[Her voice gets tighter as Emma offers him that, as if she's not sure whether that makes things better or worse. He doesn't have his kid, and even if his story doesn't add up the same way, she knows what that's like.]

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-07 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I tried...that's all you can do on your own. Try to make things better for them.

[ His teeth rake over his lower lip, gnawing there for a moment. ]

It isn't as though I haven't thought about it. That maybe she's better off with them. Maybe they can give her something I can't. But...

[ But I'm selfish. I'm afraid. I'm alone. The list of excuses goes on in his head, though he doesn't voice them aloud. He just stares through the windshield like he's seeing something else entirely. ]

...I promised I'd come back for her. Even if she can't remember, I do. I can't ever forget.

Hey, if material possessions and big houses were all that mattered, Regina would be a good mother.

[Although she has seen Jefferson's house, and it's massive in it's own right. Nothing like Regina's though, where her kid gets in trouble for the smallest things and gets told he's crazy for calling his mother on the way she treats people.

She can't think about that now, just like she can't spend too much time thinking about how he's clearly telling the truth when it comes to his daughter.]

Maybe you can give her something they can't.

[If he'd try, and he's said he won't. She pushes her hair back off of her shoulders and sighs deeply.]
hattergonnahat: (wishing i could hate you to death)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Here he falls quietly, looking at her in that odd way of his again. As though he'd forgotten that she was there, or who she was, or where they were going. Teeth scrape the inside of his lip and he says nothing, silence swallowing up the inside of the car save for the rumble of the engine. ]

If I can't...then there's nothing for me here. Day in, day out, always the same. Waiting for something that will never come.

Being alone with your own thoughts for twenty-eight years...that's a curse in itself.
sheriffing: (Default)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why be alone?

[It sounds wrong somehow, coming from her. Emma's an expert on being alone. She spent years closing herself off from everyone, and yet...maybe that makes her more qualified to point it out than it would anyone else.]

You live in a town full of people. Regina aside, they're good people. Why hide away in your McMansion and avoid them?

[They're not far off from that very house, so she slows, hoping he might consider it. Self-inflicted prison, that's a hard thing to live with.]

hattergonnahat: (you rang?)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
The same reason you do it, I imagine.

[ He's not judging, but she's got no place to judge him, either. ]

Because letting people inside means you risk losing them, or them leaving you. Once you've had something you love taken away, once you know what that feels like...you never want to invite it in again.

[ Blue eyes flash her way. ]

Tell me I'm wrong.

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Silence is a go. Well played, Jefferson. Even though she feels his eyes on her, Emma's stay on the road.

Until;]

You're not wrong. But some people are worth the risk.

[Mary Margaret was, and she wouldn't have known that if she hadn't stuck around to get to know her.]
hattergonnahat: (chasing rabbits)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The turn onto the driveway is fast approaching, and Jefferson finds his tongue stilled once again. He doesn't glance in the direction of the house, eyes lingering on Emma, on that determined look on her face. Some people are worth it, she says.

That's true, he thinks to himself. Some people are special. ]

...you should come in, for tea. I promise there's nothing in it this time.

[ He grins, a little hollowly. Bad attempt at a joke, he knows. ]
sheriffing: (Default)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shouldn't she know better than to say yes? Emma smirks to acknowledge his effort at amusing her. And to pretend that she's not having flashbacks of being stuck there when she pulls into the driveway.]

I can't, Mary Margaret isn't a big fan of being alone right now.

[After almost the whole town (David Nolan included) thought of her as a murderer, and before that a tramp? Even if she's not being asked to, Emma is staying close.]

Besides, what you need is aspirin and about ten hours of sleep.

[That suggestion, that's from being around Henry and Mary Margaret, and learning to take care of someone other than herself.]
hattergonnahat: (i'll know peace when I sleep)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. I don't blame her.

[ He smiles tightly and nods. Of course. Why wouldn't she want to stick close to her friend, after what she'd been through?

The idea of sleep is laughable, and going back into the house suddenly seems like the worst idea imaginable ( like a cage, a gilt cage full of empty rooms, always the same, always the same ) but given their history convincing her to stay is a long shot, anyway. Maybe she's right about going into town ( but what if he sees her? Sees Grace? He's not sure what he'd do ) or maybe he just needs to drink enough to knock himself out. There are options, never let it be said that there aren't. ]

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither do I, everyone turned on her the second they thought they had reason to.

[Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? She was watching them all come back to support Mary Margaret now, but in her mind it would have been too little, too late. Mary Margaret was a better person than she was to forgive them, not that there had ever been any question about that. It still hurts her to see someone she cares about move on like this, bravely but with the knowledge that so many people had judged her.

Emma snaps out of that thought long enough to park, looking Jefferson over to make sure that he isn't about to go do something stupid for the second time tonight.]

Are you alright?
hattergonnahat: (the things I do for my fucking kid)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That earned a look. Really? That's the question she's asking at this point?

A faint chuckle tugs his lips apart in a bitter sort of smile. Dear, sweet Emma. ]

No, I'm not.

[ Hey look, honesty. That's a step in the right direction, isn't it? Jefferson's hand falls against the door latch and tugs, nudging it open enough to roll out of and slowly, surely, onto his feet. The cold pricks fresh at his face, immediately ignored. ]

But you have other things to be worried about.
sheriffing: (Default)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[That answer was nothing she wasn't expecting. He thinks there's a curse she has to break to save the town. But he seems a lot more harmless now, talking about family and being alone. Talking about watching his kid being raised by someone else.]

Look, if there's anything I can do...

[She thinks to add on 'except break your curse', but doesn't. That would be a slap in the face, and it goes without saying anyway. So she leans forward against the steering wheel and waits for him to respond or close the door.]
hattergonnahat: (jefferson just needs a hug. and beer.)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That, he doesn't really have an answer so readily to.

Jefferson hesitates, the heel of his hand against the door as if ready to shut it and put the entire night behind him. Or like he's holding onto it for balance.

I don't think so.

I don't want to be alone right now.

I know we got off to the wrong foot, with the whole kidnapping you and your friend...

He knows how stupid it sounds in his head without having to say it aloud, and his jaw tightens. His head drops. They should probably just say goodnight. What had he just said not five minutes ago? It's not worth it to let people in.

Some people are worth the risk. ]

Go see to your friend, Emma. I'm not exactly going anywhere.

[ Another tight, forced smile. ]
sheriffing: (Default)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

[For her, it's hard to fight the thought that she shouldn't. That maybe she could...could what, set him right after everything he did? Could talk him into being a respectable member of society instead of a lurker in the woods? What Emma knows is that she should know better than to think it would make a difference.

But she doesn't, she feels guilty. She feels responsible. She feels for him. And all of those things, she hates, because she used to be much better at holding a grudge than she is now.]

Goodnight, Jefferson.

[He's the guy who kidnapped her and Mary Margaret. The one who ranted and raved, whose house they had to fight their way out of. It's not supposed to bother her to know that he's miserable. It does, though.

She's not much better at forcing a smile.]
hattergonnahat: (well i guess you caught me)

[personal profile] hattergonnahat 2012-11-08 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He nods back towards the house, up the stairs to the front door. ]

I'll be here. If you change your mind about tea. Even when they think I'm mad, company's better than none.

[ It's in direct contradiction to what he's said, why he won't interact with the other townspeople and why he stays up here on his own. But Emma...

Well. She's special. ]

...Goodnight, Emma.

[ He moves his grip on the door, finally closing it and taking a step or two back to watch her depart. If she departs.

Oh, when she departs. He's not going to be so lucky a second time. ]
sheriffing: (Default)

[personal profile] sheriffing 2012-11-08 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[It takes a while before she does. After he's at the door, after she's thought about it for another minute. Mary Margaret really does want the company.

And she's not ready for more of this. Not tonight.

Maybe some other time. Yeah, that'll happen.]
