( what you can never have )

When two people come together in a relationship, it's a beautiful thing. What can be wrong with love, right? Right? Except when the union is completely and totally wrong, for whatever reason. Then things can get a little messy.
How To Play
1. Comment with your character, listing their name, canon, etc, along with any preferences. 2. Comment around to others, using the RNG to determine the scenario. It doesn't have to be a lovey-dovey relationship, obviously. There can be hate, sorrow, lust, whatever. 3. Thread! Have fun! Do things!
Scenarios
1. Warring Factions: You belong to rival organizations, armies, clubs, etc. Whatever it is, you're not on the same team.
2. Soldiers on the Battlefield: Or maybe you are on the same side, but this is the wrong time and the wrong place. Plus, attachments cause distractions.
3. Bodyguard and the Guarded: Just like the movie with Kevin Costner! One of you has been hired to protect the other for some reason, and feelings are starting to grow. Are you a professional and cut things off, or do you give in?
4. Prince/ss and Knight: Similar to the above, but with a whole 'nother level of wrong...one of you is royal. Courtly love is okay; still, don't forget your place.
5. Enemies: This vendetta is personal, and you totally hate this person! Don't you? Perhaps you're maybe just rivals, or something as serious as superhero and villain.
6. Family: The ultimate taboo. This person is related to you, so there's no way you should indulge this desire, even if it's the most pure love there ever was.
7. Age Difference: The years between you should keep you both at bay, but it's easier said than done.
8. Teacher/Student: Teachers and students have a unique bond, and to corrupt it is a dangerous thing. Will you dare to act on emotions that could put you both in a destructive place?
9. Already Spoken For: One or both of you are already involved with someone else, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Just know that you can't have your cake and eat it, too.
10. Not Compatible: Your personalities or jobs make it so it's hard for you to be together.
11. Not Compatible...in Another Way: You're both different species, which means you're either afraid to take your relationship to a physical level or you can't because of differences in biologies.
12. Not Ready for Love: You took a vow (or celibacy, of chastity, of dedication), you're married to your work, or you just don't want to be involved with anyone. Too bad!
13. Rich and Poor: One of you has the money while the other is from more modest means. Can the 1% and the 99% ever be bedfellows, literally?
14. Hurt Before: Your heart has been broken, and maybe there's been no time to heal. But here you are.

Re: Loki Odinson | MCU | OTA
ooooh, me too, I have plenty Loki headcanons there, let's do 11 + 2 , IW AU, why not
[Pietro was a fool, but then again, all of them were. Thor seemed to like them - them, as in Pietro, Wanda, and Vision, that strange little group - and so, Loki tolerated them.
Thor-- but that was a few months ago. Which, to an Asgardian, is actually like yesterday.]
[Loki is not going to grieve. Why would he grieve? One grieved for the dead. He still grieved for Mother. He would not grieve for Thor, or say a prayer for Thor, never, not unless Thor died, because his brother did not die. Loki saw the Snap, and, knowing about Thanos's plan, and curious, immediately also felt the Snap, with his Magical Arts, quickly concluding that this was no death, just an erasure of existence---- and then, while feeling it, felt the only live existence he cared much for erased. He rushed to actually SEE it, teleported his illusion there to SEE it, and saw-- saw his older brother vanish. Saw Thor turning to look at Loki, and say, "On the ship, for a moment, I thought you dead again. So... I never told you yet, how glad I was, when we woke up on Milano, bro--"
Stupid. Stupid, foolish, idiotic moron...!!!]
[Infinity Stones, blah, blah, this was no death, Thor had not been killed. This was but a spell, done by six moronic rocks held by a fool who once (no, many times) almost murdered Loki. So what? Any spell could be reversed. And so. Loki would help those pathetic Avengers, Guardians, the whole lot of them. Who cared about trillions of souls. Maybe.
Loki cared about one. His brother. Oh, and for those who could be helpful in getting Thor back.]
[He hasn't slept for ten nights now, which was sort of a limit for an Asgardian - or for a Frost Giant. Who knew. So now, he was undressing for the night, when the speedster, Pietro, came into his - Loki's - room in the Avenger Tower. Into his own room. Whatever he wanted - and he did sort of like Pietro, as they were able to, hm, commiserate on temporary sibling loss, when Loki explained to Pietro that this was a spell and therefore it could be temporary, it could be broken, Wanda Maximoff was only as far away as Pietro's ability to kill Thanos and then use the Gauntlet etc. - still, that gave Pietro no reason to come unnannounced into Loki Odinson's own Avengers Tower room.]
[Loki mutters.] I do not mislike you, Midgardian, but you shouldn't disturb sorcerers in the middle of the night. Had your parents not taught you that? Shoo, shoo.
[Though maybe not sleeping would be good. If he slept, Loki would dream of Thor, certainly, and that would only tire him. However, he didn't understand... why wasn't this human sleeping right now? Why wasn't Pietro trying to fall asleep in his own Tower room.]
oh god you've thrown me into FEELS
There wasn't even a body to bury, only a pile of dirt where she'd been standing as he was frozen, watched her crumble away like a child's creation, blown apart in the wind, unable to last. He was the one who should of been dead, it was him was had been pulled back from the grave and jerked back into the realm of the living by Wanda's powers, Ultron's bullets no strong enough.
If the universe was truly needing to be balanced, was it not his soul that should have passed into the grave?
But she was the one who had died, had disappeared, had been erased, whatever te others wished to call it. Wanda was gone, and he stood, and when Steve called the others back from the battlefield, Pietro had looked around and realized how useless he might be.
Wanda would have had the skill and knowledge to face battle against Thanos, her ties to the gem that had given them their powers, her similarity to it that had so nearly been able to destroy it- But Pietro, although born of the same gem, was not nearly so useful in tracking them down, or determining how Thanos might be deceived.
Until battle was joined again, all he could do was pace around the Tower. He had not met Loki before, the supposed god who had carried the gem before it came to Strucker, but Pietro guessed that made it all the easier to see in him someone else who missed their sibling, would do anything to get them back, damn the world, the world doesn't matter, only-
Whatever the reason, Pietro had spent more time with Loki than the others, and felt that Loki did not mind his company as much as he hated the others. When he finds himself wandering the halls of the Tower at night, it doesn't seem so strange to pause by the door with the lights still coming out from underneath it, and then to walk inside.
"Am I disturbing you? You don't seem to be doing anything at all."
Re: oh god you've thrown me into FEELS
He looks at Pietro carefully.
"Hm. I guess Midgardians are capable of love, even though their lives are so short. Worry not. I assure you, after I take back what's mine, wrench it from Thanos, I will take back from him what's yours, as well."
He snarls, and then, sighs, massaging his own neck aggresively, panting. Then, calmer after a moment, and quieter, more... upset? Loki adds,
"Remind me again, what was that? Yours? The Witch, her robot, and your country? Anything else? I can grab your parents from the past, but I do not recommend the idea. The shock would kill them."
no subject
A few months ago, he would have punched Loki in the face for speaking so casually, so calously about Wanda.
Pietro only moves to sit, and offers Loki a small, unimpressed look. The words seem more rambling than directed to hurt, and Pietro wonders just how long an Asgardian can keep working before they exhaust themselves. It's a quiet worry, a fleeting thought, just the wondering of a human who doesn't know at all quite what he's dealing with.
"I buried my parents when I was twelve, I do not think they have been affected by this. It is only my sister I need back, only Wanda I care about."
He speaks quietly, his words made slow with his effort to tamp down his accent, and his own weariness at the subject. Grief slowly stole all the energy out of him, until the mention of Wanda was enough to bring even the speedster to a crawl.
no subject
Loki looks at Pietro carefully. "The gauntlet is no trifle. If I am to wield it after we steal it, would you lend me a bit of your soul?"
Loki stands up, smiles wearily, and cups Pietro's cheek.
"Imagine souls like batteries. I will use mine up."
no subject
He leans his cheek against Loki’s touch for a moment, brief, and then straightens up, as if remembering himself.
”Of course, if it is needed. I will do anything to bring her back.”
no subject
Loki shrugs.
"Makes no difference to me. I will give her to you, even if she be worst, darling."
Loki laughs.
"First things first, we must cut the Titan's arm off. Any ideas?"
no subject
”A very sharp, big knife. And I can go fast enough- He never caught me, last time.”
no subject
Is Loki pouting? Well...
Loki coughs, touching his own neck.
"Let's say, one Asgardian prince had a sour experience, when it comes to Thanos and knives. He will use the Tesse---the Space, and then you may well just cut the air between, forever. It's fun and games, till he crushes your throat."
Loki sighs.
"I'm tired. Give us a kiss?"
no subject
"So you do care about me enough to not want me dead. Good to know."
And then, nicely, kindly, he leans over and presses his lips against Loki's.
no subject
However, this is no corpse, that can be seen by all things other than the peculiar body heat or lack thereof.
No, Loki is very much alive, as he grabs Pietro's neck, pulling the man closer.
As Loki's tongue finds its way to Pietro's.
As Loki's temperature drops a bit, but the intensity in his open - yes, he does not close them for the make out - eyes rises. Intense like a polaris. Polaris in mild winter, judging by temperature.
Finally, Loki breaks the kiss, panting and grinning widely.
"Feel free to sneeze, mortal, only not in my face!" , he shouts, with a widening cheeky grin.
Care? As in love? No, he doesn't love Pietro, he thinks. Love is for Mother. Love is for Thor.
This one, love? As if!
no subject
He exhales, as Loki pulls away, and his breath mists against the warm are.
Pietro reaches out, and wraps a hand around Loki's shoulder, holding him close, as if to prevent the mad, uncomprehendable man from pulling away. That was what he was, after all, a wildness that Pietro did not understand, and yet still finds himself drawn to, longing for, wanting more.
Pietro had been dead once, and he, more than anyone, understood what it was like to feel as cold as the grave. He smiles at Loki, and does not sneeze.
"And how about pushing you to bed? Am I allowed to do that?"
no subject
Gives a bow, sweeping one.
"Yours truly, for tonight, do your worst. If you leave no traces, it never happened."
"Only leave me with enough energy to try to reclaim brother and sister on the morrow. Or after. Or in ten years, who knows, who in the Hel even knows when--- And yourself, too, on the morrow, or next year, or in twenty years, I'll be taking half of your soul's life for that, if it's all the same to you."
And, immediately after having said that, Loki grabs Pietro by the shoulders with his left arm, and, with his right, practically claws at his cheek. And the truth is, ever since Thor's gone, Loki doesn't look so immaculate as he used to, and neither do his nails.
"First blood, I win," Loki claims, breathing heavily. He's slowly becoming warmer, hesitantly, as if doing so was quite a feat.
no subject
With a sweep of his arms, he lifts Loki up. While normally the god might be too heavy for Pietro to lift, he's lost weight since Thor died, and at Pietro's speed, he doesn't have to carry Loki very far. One whirlwind of a power use latter, and Pietro is dropping Loki down, right beside the god's bed. There's a satifisied smirk on Pietro's face, for he wasn't truly sure he was capable of doing it, but having done it, he's glad of it.
"Do you wish for me to strip you as well?"
Loki's voice was insanity, but Pietro's was kindness, and he only has to reach out his arm, and begin to push Loki's shirt down, hardly waiting at all for Loki's answer. He works at full speed, until he has Loki's clothes off, and he can push the Asgardian once more towards the bed.
"You will be better at fighting Thanos if you will sleep tonight."
no subject
The youngest Odinson lies down heavily. There's suddenly a thin layer of cold water on the bed, before it begins sinking into bedsheets.
And Loki's eyes, boring hungrily into Pietro's, suddenly take on an almost reddish hue. Is it unnerving? Who knows. Pietro has never seen these eyes in such colour. Never seen them be other than almost emerald.
"Come, pet. I'm not a patient king."
no subject
That tendency towards insanity seems all the more real when Pietro watches Loki's eyes fade into redness, and he shudders at the effect the change has.
Pietro's eyes flare in primative recognition of the threat that such strange eyes represent. But he does not pull away.
"What do you need then, if you aren't sleeping?"
Loki: I need a Thor, can you get me one (does not say)
And then, my body betrays me, at four in the morning, and I sleep. Have - nightmares, is the word in your language."
He breathes into Pietro's ear. Cold, cold air.
"You cannot protect me, anyway. You will be spent too quickly, and escape into dreams of your own. Leaving me to Thanos. I know. You're only human. I forgive you for that."
My brain: “he should buy one of those Thor stuffed animals”
”You think I don’t have nightmares? You think I don’t dream of Wanda, hear her screaming, watch him kill her? You think-“
Hydra. The pain of the experiments. The torture as he was tied to a table. Bouncing off walls, hitting imbedded shards of glass, to force him to learn control or bleed to death. Shaking, when they chained him down and made him stay in one position, for days.
“It’s easier if you’re not alone, I promise. Let me stay here. At least for one night.”
pfffffttt ha ha ha yeah! XD XD I mean, that wouldn't worsen everything, right! ;) XD
"Show me yours? I could see without your permission, but that's rude."
Embraces him, tightly.
"And so - my lord, permission to see your nightmares? Literally see? Because I can."
no subject
"Yes, you may. Thank you for not being rude."
He knows that Loki might have experienced more pain, has almost certainly gone through more nightmare material, given how much older he is, but Pietro simply wants to show the man how he's not alone.
"Do you need me to do anything?"
no subject
Unnecessarily said. Loki almost scoffs. All sentient beings remember, no matter how much hurt, erasure, weapons, or alcohol, at least some scraps of memory remain.
He reaches and touches Pietro's forehead. Now he'll see a memory, just like that.
Whatever memory it might be.
no subject
It feels nothing like Wanda, the coldness of Loki’s touch, the way he searches when Wanda always just knew where to find whatever it was she was looking for.
Pietro bites back a tear.
He focuses on the memory. On remembering his twisted, tormented nightmare. Of being burned by the sceptor, and hearing the strange mad laughter that had come from it, so full of other that he couldn’t make sense of it. And in the nightmare, the face of another dying subject turns into Wanda’s, and she screams at him for letting her die even as she crumbles into piece.
no subject
He tries to go deeper. For a happier time. Maybe it's all useless, anyway.
no subject
Happy memories, but not dreams.
no subject
But he's tired, he's so tired... quite tired.
For a moment, Pietro might see Loki and Thor, both different than he's seen them, as if only a few years, it seemed, has changed them a lot. Loki and Thor, talking, Loki asking Thor if he's nervous before the coronation. Loki looks more grounded in reality there than Pietro's ever seen him, most likely.
The image - memory - disappears.
As Loki pulls away, breathing heavily.
"Accident", he mutters.

forgot Dio's password, was lazy about resetting it. oops. 13? And Dio is usually rich, so,
He was a gift to her. Well, maybe not in her culture, but in his - yes. Literally.
Delphine had no more need for him after killing their parents. That is, that was what she said.
Dio tried to protest - he wasn't like Cicada. No, he was none of that! He wasn't somebody's gift. He was a lord, he was a--- but that was years ago.
Years ago.
And maybe, just maybe, he had been better off here. Was better off here. Had better existence than he'd have with his sister.
He knew that now. He has changed - for well or ill, he did not know, but he's changed, under her. No - with her.
"My Lady. You... you're up early, today."
She was indeed.
