Everyone has secrets. What are you willing to do to keep yours? Blackmail is such an ugly word- let's call it unbalance negotiation.

Rules
Post your character, with a preference for which role you wish to play. If the victim, outline their secrets and what they'd do to keep them.

Blackmail is one the nicer ways he convinces people to do things they don't want to.

Comes in three flavours with different options pre-bodyjack, in Peter Parker's body or post bodyjack in his own clone body.

Original Otto doesn't have much to blackmail him with- he's already a criminal with a public identity. But using blackmail to obtain money or a servant is on the table.

When in Peter Parker's body there's, of course, someone knowing his secret, which he would do quite literally anything to prevent getting out (and be constantly scheming to escape the blackmail). There's also the similar, but less desperation inducing idea of someone knowing Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

And finally, in his clone body, he's taken up a new public identity with his new face, Professor Elliot Tolliver, so there's the options of discovering Elliot Tolliver is Otto Octavius or the Superior Octopus without knowing he's Otto (as he is pretending to be a new hero, inspired by Otto's genius). Another idea is someone mistakenly believing he's the Octopus' tech guy or something simpler, like one of his students tricking him into a situation that looks like he's doing something that might cost him his job.

Coercing him into violence, crime, weird sex stuff, it's all on the table.

Understandably, somebody with his level of unquestioned authority finds out about all kinds of shady things, and sometimes he does a good deed by not turning them in! Unfortunately, this might entail giving them a gun and sending them off to be a distraction or meatbag as part of a larger scheme.]

[Also open to turn things around and be the blackmailed - wouldn't it be nice to have a walking weapon dancing to your tune and do all kinds of favors? Executions, thefts, arrests, it's all good. Just don't expect him to be happy about it. Rico's involved in a lot of stuff that would send him away for a long time, like extortion rings, secret relationships, and murder.]

[Willing to play either role, but Rhys is probably pretty easy to blackmail. He kept the Handsome Jack AI a secret in my playthrough, and there's no way he'd want it getting out that he: 1) used the AI to get back to Helios, and, 2) kept his old EchoEye with the AI trapped inside.

Now, as the head of Atlas, it'd look pretty bad if that got out. He's willing to do most anything to keep it secret. Check out the prefs and permissions page before engaging. It's unlikely I'll be willing to play anything sexual, since it would end up being dub/noncon, which is a hard no for me. If it's not on my hard no list, it's fair game.]

Either way works for me, but if you're interested in Rufus being the blackmail victim could be Yuffie's found the location to something of her mother's that was captured by Shinra back during the war and she needs Rufus to get access to it. Might be she's found some plans of his out and threatens to spill the beans or if you play Rufus with The Kids are Alright incorporated could be she's learned about Evan and threatens to tell the public he's related to Rufus.))

The thing about Turks? They were obnoxiously hard to sneak past. Not because they were supernaturally observant or anything cool like that. They were just always around. Ugh. Ugh! It took five days of watching for Yuffie's chance. She didn't know what it was, but the Turks went rushing out of Shinra's latest HQ one after another. Even Tseng eventually left.

Presumably they wouldn't just leave Rufus unguarded. But Yuffie had ways of getting in no one knew about. Crawl spaces and cheap building contracts always were a girl's best friends... Good thing bugs didn't make her squeamish. ...Much. Eventually she navigated to where Rufus's office should be, pressing an ear to the ceiling tiles beneath to listen for sound. The shuffling of papers, the movement of cloth, a voice on a phone. Anything was good enough so as long as it confirmed his presence. The one person in the whole entire world who could help her.

It made her sick. She didn't have sympathy for anyone who went crawling to him. Which was why she was coming with blackmail nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. The drop from the hole of a softly removed tile was quiet. The pop as she activated the handy WRO gadget she'd attached to the building fusebox, short circuiting the room and cutting off the phone line (along with the lights, spooky, and the AC, less spooky) was not so quiet.

“Gracing evil with her slick presence, a champion of light facing down decrepit boogeymen!” The goofy lines probably weren't necessary. Actually they were very unnecessary as Yuffie maneuvered to make sure any gun Rufus drew was decidedly not pointing at her by getting behind him. She could survive a bullet. Probably. But no need to test that, especially when she wasn't packing materia. “Long time no see, Prez. How's the life of the world's biggest has-been?”

She'd probably be more recognizable if the lights weren't out. And, you know, if they'd ever talked at length before.

[I've read On The Way to A Smile, which is the same time period. I partly use that for Rufus, and hope you don't mind me using it here :)]

Yuffie would probably find herself surprised to learn the Turks were out for something legitimate this time; none of their spying, stealing, kidnapping or murder, yet still important enough that Rufus had sent Tseng out, despite his protests, to assist the other three.

What they were out for was actually what Rufus was on the phone discussing when the girl decided to cut the entirety of the power in small office that Rufus and the Turks had let out for the time it took for Tseng to be satisfied that the Healin Lodge was throuroughly secured after his abduction a time back. Tseng had even been sure this place was secure, but apparently he would need to have a talk with the Turk about the disbanded AVALANCHE.

He's also rather impressed, as his first instinct was to draw his gun when he saw a form before the lights went out, and it's aimed Yuffie's former location before he has time to readjust to her movements. It's really just her voice that lets him know she's behind him, and his chuckle proves he's amused enough. However, if he thinks he won't know her, she'd be quite wrong; Rufus had read Tseng and Reeve's very detailed reports.

the tldr; Alice spent a good portion of her childhood and early into our modern adulthood (so, 19/20s) in a mental asylum after surviving a fire that killed her family and left her deeply traumatised. besides being canonly gaslit into believing the fire was her fault (it wasn't), which in itself can be blackmail if you want to play that angle (hell knows some of the characters in the game do), there's that.

along the way of slowly fighting to recover her memories, alice kills at least two people: one is a mean elderly woman who was (unsurprisingly) blackmailing her, although it was an accident and she was dissociating into wonderland; the other is her therapist for obviously spoilery reasons that make him horrible (though others seemed to see him as an upstanding citizen), so she pushed him onto the tracks of an oncoming train.

those naturally work as blackmail too - someone might have seen her do it/or an AU variant of it.

though alice is a strong fighter, emotionally she's very fragile and with good reason. i'm open to her being manipulated, could be to do someone's dirty work, or just for their own fun, whatever goes. i'd just like to avoid noncon stuff with her since it's a big canon y i k e s ]

[Hanamiya doesn't know Seirin's captain well enough to predict his every intimate little thought but he is pretty sure he can make a few solid predictions.

For example, today Hyuuga Junpei probably thought he was just going to eat something on his way home and go about whatever after school business he gets himself up to. He probably thought he wouldn't be spending much more than maybe five or six hundred yen. He probably thought he was alone en route to Maji Burger. He probably thinks he's alone now.]

[When that thought's proven wrong, he probably won't think that being approached by Kirisaki's captain is worth any fear. He'll probably think it worth annoyance at most. He probably thinks Hanamiya would relish the slightest chance to annoy him with his mere presence. That's because Hyuuga can't possibly be smart enough to realize that Hanamiya doesn't care about him enough to interact with him just to annoy him. He probably won't consider, despite having enough evidence he really should put it together, that Hanamiya Makoto believes in going big or going home.]

(His knee-jerk reaction is annoyance at the nickname he'll never fully embrace. He didn't choose to have poor eyesight. Any smart person wore glances instead of walking into walls. His irritation only grows when he sees the source of the insult.

Hanamiya Makoto. The frown deeps into a scowl. Why is this conversation even happening? If there's one person he hates more than Kiyoshi, it's Hanamiya.)

[ Spider-Man was not, generally speaking, the most popular hero out there. Quite the opposite really. Despite being hypercompetent in the field, he's also dressed like a spider, a bit weird and his constant terrible jokes don't help either. Not to mention his absolutely atrocious luck. Everyone in the business tells Peter just to stick to science and help out with equipment and the like. He insists on doing both, which barely pays the bills.

Nemuri's visit to his lab was for exactly that purpose- he'd gone horribly red when she outlined her need for a new whip and the requirements she wanted from it, but hey. Anything to get a paycheck. Problem is, he'd left the door unlocked and lost track of time. Which means after sauntering in, she gets to see how Peter does his best thinking.

Which is naked, aside from his mask and boxers with little hearts on them, dancing far too energetically to terrible 90's music. Aqua's Barbie Girl in the specific instance she comes across.

He doesn't actually notice she's there until he does a dramatic turn in time with music and- oh no, she's recording it.

All the tools he was juggling clatter to the ground, smacking him right on the foot, causing him to stumble and fall flat on his face to complete the image. ]
