[The Rules]

1. Find the thread for the canons/fandoms of your character. If you don't see one, make one!

2. Post with all of your character accounts. Yes, all of them. Throwing in your entire musebox is totally fine in this meme. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

3. AU characters are totally OK. Crossover/fusion characters may post at all the fandoms/canons their crossover/fusion is derived from. Fandom OCs may post at their fandom/canon's thread. Original Story/Universe OCs will have their own thread.

4. A big party is going on, with a big buffet, dancing, etc etc etc. Tag around all over the place and mingle - Canonmates, non-canonmates, everything is OK!

[ and that fact is all too clear to red, who still turns on the toothy charm when she starts to lead. sort of. red is not an expert dancer either, but at least she can look hot while winging it. besides, pulling the flirtations into another arena is fun.

[excuse you, he is.

he's not. but rather than have this turn into a complete embarrassment, whale makes an attempt to assert himself more. he's the one who's supposed to be in control of this whole thing? right? really, he's probably just making it worse, but maybe the whole non-verbal back-and-forth isn't so unappealing. maybe.]

[ finally, an assessment as she sways to and fro: ]

You're not so bad at this.

[what was that? was that approval? feeding his ego? he'll run with it. and maybe spin her again, because hey, he had that part down.]

You seemed like you were struggling.

[ she grins slowly and dances just a little closer to hopefully throw him off again. ]

I have no idea what you're talking about.

[because clearly, he is the best one in this room. rather than throw him off, her movement only serves as an invitation to put both of his hands around her waist.]

[ well, no complaints here so far, because she's actually having fun and it's actually been some time since she has let herself relax after everything. ]

That's okay - our little secret this evening.

[a good sign. the ideal one, in fact, though he doesn't push it further quite yet.]

I don't know. Small town, word gets around pretty fast.

If word of your dancing skills gets around, I can tell you now that you won't hear it from me.

[ don't think he's getting lucky just yet, mmk, she's not that drunk. ] How's the psychic power working for you?

[it's whale, though. he's always thinking ahead in these situations. but at her first comment, he almost scowls in the midst of raising an eyebrow. at the second, he closes his eyes and draws in a breath, making a show of concentrating.

and then he looks right back at her, because if he's going to do this at all, he's going to be professional and cold-read her.]

Well, you haven't said you're enjoying yourself, but I know. It's working.

[ instantly, she wrinkles her brow, though a smile still pulls at the corners of her reddened lips. her nose scrunches soon after and red simply has to laugh with a toss of her head. ]

Fine. [ she concedes. ] You have me there.

Speaks wonders for cognitive ability. [he says it with the most nonchalant of shrugs the he can manage, and a grin spreads across his face.] And with less alcohol than I'd counted on. Gotta count for something.

[ And with both arms slung around his neck now, Red cants her head to one side in a very doglike fashion. ]

How long are we gonna test this, Whale?

Well, the hypothesis technically needs more testing before I can really say anything else.

[oh, things are proceeding, it seems. he takes the opportunity to pull her in closer - maybe to restrain her from getting away.]

Unless you're trying to move on to something else. I won't complain.

Oh, so we're going by the scientific method? I guess I can't protest since you're a man of science and everything. You know how this all is supposed to go.

[ okay. that might be teasing. at this point in time, red has seen the many ways whale has picked up chicks, so she might be curious to see how he'll go about it tonight. ]

You know, I'd almost say that was a complaint.

[hey, at least he's better off than the whole, 'ARE THE NUNS STILL NUNS?' fiasco.]

[and he actually winks. yes, whale, you're so alluring.]

I never said I was the expert either. Though if you asked me about psychic abilities, I'd just say you had some dirty thoughts swimming in that head of yours.
