See, the thing is--talented as Claudia is, she a) doesn't know everything, b) still messes up sometimes, and...

c) has a hard time admitting to Father that she's made a mistake she doesn't know how to fix.

So, when she's training with Father on countering curses and is just a half second too late, it takes everything in her not to let on that the flames of his minor curse burned her.

She's proud of herself because Father goes about the rest of the lesson as if nothing's happened and he's none the wiser, but flames cast by dark magic hurt and as soon as he's left her for his duties, she feels herself on the verge of tears.

The burn extends from her wrist to her elbow, hidden by her sleeve. Her skin is puckered and black, flickering with purple flashes, like tiny electrical currents. It feels like that part of her arm has been run through with a thousand red hot needles straight through to the bone marrow.

By the time she reaches Soren, her eyes are wet and shiny with unshed tears and her face looks sickly pale, almost green with the effort it takes not to crumple in a ball and cry in pain.

Soren's busy, as per usual, training. But Claudia walks through fhe training room and looks up at him, clutching her arm to her chest.]

Soren.

[She barely gets his name out through her gritted teeth--and he's probably going to laugh at her when he realizes what's happened, but right now she just wants someone who won't lecture her for messing up.]

[ It had been a slow day at Chaldea, and Ritsuka had remembered something she'd seen once on the internet, when she was still a high school student - mattress jousting. The rules were simple: two people, each riding their own mattress, would slide down the hall (the mattress shoved by a group of bystanders), until they met in the middle with a great clash. Whoever managed to stay on their mattress was declared the winner. Rinse and repeat.

There had been much fun, with Servants flying through the air from the force of the mattresses colliding (Berserkers were a great help in launching for maximum impact) and laughter all around - until it was Ritsuka's turn. They'd forgotten that their very human Master, despite being tougher than perhaps the average human being, was not quite as sturdy and durable as her Servants.

Truth to be told, she'd forgotten it too until she was sailing through the air, tumbling head over heels.

Which is how she arrived at Dr. Roman's office, covered in bumps and bruises, as her Servants hastily returned to clean up the crime scene lest any of the more responsible Servants find out what they've been doing. ]

...Please don't tell Mash about this, Dr. Roman.

[ The last Master of Chaldea gives him a weak smile as he's examining her; she's pretty sure that nothing's broken and mostly confident that she doesn't have a concussion. The worst she has, she figures, is probably a sprain. ]
