| Because is there anything better than a dangerous, potentially deadly stoic whose one weakness is their sweet, harmless object of affection? Especially if the latter has the former wrapped around their finger, knowingly or otherwise. To avoid tl;dr - suddenly, a wild bae approaches! Their attempt to turn you into a puddle of goo at the knees, whether purposeful or not, is very effective.

Enjolras will likely hear the grin in his voice as he starts to shuffle around to get ready.
"Give me like-- 15 minutes? I'll see you there."
heck!!
This is good. This is a good thing. This is something that will make Grantaire keep smiling, even when they're properly together. This is something that will make Grantaire happy.
This is, even better, something that will make them both happy. That's more than worth having taken the evening off.

Hopefully Enjolras will let him catch at his hand and press a kiss against his knuckles, because Grantaire’s not certain he can help it.
no subject
It's also likely obvious that he's entirely pleased to be reaching out to catch hold of Grantaire's hand, keeping their fingers threaded tightly even after the light press of lips to his knuckles.
"Hey."

The obvious dressing up can't help but earn a grin. Can't help but have him squeezing Enjolras' hand contentedly.
"You look-- even nicer'n usual."
no subject
That's worth dressing up for a little, surely. That's something he ought to make a small effort about, even if much more than this would wind up making him cranky.
no subject
He can't help the amused huff that comes with the words.
"You know I like spending time with you."
no subject
Particularly not like this. There were meetings, yes, and there were moments of being absorbed in their own work in one another's general orbit, but there wasn't enough time spent properly like this.
"So... just you and me tonight. Okay? Dinner and-- maybe a movie?"
no subject
"That sounds-- really great."
no subject
Funny, how those two things seem to be lining up more and more.
"Good. I-- Good."
no subject
It seems important, to state it outright. It's maybe part of trying to make sure he's communicating needs and wants.
"That you're-- taking the time, for us."
no subject
"We should... be doing it more, hm?"
no subject
"That'd mean a lot, too," he says, but also can't help adding, "When you can manage it without-- stressing too much, though. Okay?"
He never wants to be too much.

Nights like this helped. Nights like this, after all, made it feel infinitely plausible. If, next time, the two of them planned it together, it would halve the work the team had done to pull off tonight.

That’s a good promise. That’s something lovely to look forward to.
Which means, hopefully, that they can think all the more about the now. Grantaire can’t help but lightly squeeze at Enjolras’ hand, a question in the gesture.
“‘s go to dinner?”
no subject
Because this had been a real, genuine effort. This had been a full-out Enjolras plan.
"And then we'll-- play it by ear?"
Which will be harder, but which will be less hard with Grantaire next to him.
no subject
Both things have him pressing a kiss against the other man's knuckle.
"Sounds fantastic."
no subject
Well. What they're actually going to do, apparently, is stop on the corner so Enjolras can actually catch Grantaire's cheek and tug him briefly into a warm little kiss.
"--going to be late if you keep distracting me."
Maybe he's not entirely bothered by it. Very possibly.
no subject
"Can't help 's what I'm-- best at."
But also will properly start moving, in a moment.
Maybe after one more kiss.
no subject
"You're wonderful."
It bears saying, as often as he can.
no subject
"Thank you."
no subject
Not to power, exactly, but it's still something he can enjoy. He can also enjoy twisting their fingers together to swing their hands, apparently.
no subject
Even nicer, though, is getting to swing their hands as they make their way to the restaurant.
no subject
"...it is."
That's wonderfully nice, really.
no subject
"Where'd y'end up picking, for dinner?"
