No one without the other

| No matter how the darkness looms around you - how much you've become the darkness - there's one bright spot in your life - a person who makes everything worthwhile. It doesn't really matter how they came to you. What does is that they stay. Whether you admit it or not, you seek comfort from them...and, perhaps, them from you, if you're in the same situation. So, whether you push them away, treat them right, or go so far as to worship them and put them on a pedestal, you don't want them to go now. You crave being with them, or at least being in their presence. Don't ruin this for yourself. After all, what would you do without your little ray of light? You'll do anything to keep them happy and loved. Anything.

He's heard about the new arrival, of course, but he's a busy man and it takes him a while to actually getting around to paying him a visit. He doesn't see to the vast majority of things here personally, after all, there's entirely too much even for a creature like himself. But he's been hearing rumors about how this new soul has been adjusting (poorly, from what he's heard, but that's most people in their first few months here, before eternity really has a chance to settle in as it were) and also reports of it's power and he's curious about them.
There have been rumors of the ruler of the Underworld that surely Sephiroth would have heard by now but they're all pretty vague and contradictory, like the rumor of any good legend: ten feet tall, constantly on fire, just eyes in the darkness, clawed and horned and hideous, unearthly beauty that drives you insane to look at it, made entirely of shadow, etc. The reality is just a man dressed in a sort of nondescript noble's finery in blacks and blues, finely made and well fitted but nothing spectacular. He's attractive, yes, but a lot of people are attractive. There's nothing immediately special about him, though perhaps his eyes are a bit odd, not that a set of odd eyes would be anything unusual to Sephiroth.
Whatever Sephiroth is doing, though, the man interrupts only by watching him steadily until he's acknowledged.
let's go with it. :3
This place is nothing more than a pit stop for his greatness. He may have lost once but he won't repeat that mistake. He will gather all the souls for himself and return to the living.
He continues to abuse the minions who are trying to subdue him without much success. He finds little enjoyment skewering them though, seeing as they just come back to 'life'. After ten more go down at his hand, he finally turns to regard Ereuvir, pointing his stupidly long blade at him.
"I will have your crown."

"Will you? I think you are misinformed as to what I am, or how power works here, if you think so. Do you think I was elected? That I was born into power or stole it, like your leaders," he glances upwards when he says it, "As above so below?" that's finally mocking, though he still seems far more amused than angry, "I don't think so. What power do you think is capable of being taken? I am the Underworld." His lips curl and while the smirk is definitely challenging, it seems genuine enough, "You cannot destroy me. Do you think you can rule me?"
There's a little bit of a different kind of spark here, an indication (that Ereuvir does nothing to hide) that he's having fun already, just verbally jousting.

"Tell me how and I will do it," he smirks, spreading his free hand out in a welcoming gesture.
no subject
"You want me to tell you how to rule me? And you believe... I would answer you, and do so truthfully?" he looks down the edge of Sephiroth's blade, "I'm not that foolish or that arrogant."
He tilts his head to the side, taking a step off the wall where he's been leaning, moving closer, but slowly, not really straight towards Sephiroth, just casually closer.
"Why would you want to rule the Underworld? Just to be able to rule something? Just because you can?"
no subject
"The world above will be mine soon enough. Those who perish don't deserve a hell without me."
no subject
He moves closer still,
"What I'm curious about, however, is why you think you're immune? You're clearly in hell. It seems like you've made some decisions that have sent you here. What do you think is so special about you?" it could be taunting, certainly, but Ereuvir sounds genuinely curious.

He doesn't seem threatened by Ereuvir's approach, just stands his ground and observes.

It's not entirely true. He can feel pain, but it is difficult to cause it as more than an inconvenience and difficult to hurt him in the first place, really, at least while he's standing in the middle of his kingdom. Really, it's more that he sees no reason to fight yet, or to throw around any of his power. This man is clearly delusional in some form or fashion, but also interesting, and it's so rare he finds himself interested.
"So it is just power for the sake of power, then? I'm afraid I can't just let you have it. Particularly if you're planning on trying to leave. But this endless killing of my servants is a bit bothersome. Personally, I would prefer if you would come back with me and we could discuss this over dinner. But if you prefer to fight, I won't deny you a target."

"What makes you think you can keep me here?" Though a bit more talk wouldn't hurt.

He tilts his head towards Ereuvir. "Will you stop me?"
no subject
"I shouldn't have to. I think you'll simply find it harder than you're expecting. It isn't as though you can just walk back to the world of the living, after all." There's a pause and then he adds,
"You're awfully hell-bent on that, aren't you? Your revenge and whatnot?"

"How am I doing so far? I regret I can't spend the resources to keep your fighting interesting forever."

"That sounds very lonely," he says, after a moment. Not that it's for him to judge. He's not exactly a sparkling bit of social butterfly, himself. But he does have his sister, after a fashion, and he's not the only immortal he knows.

"The strong rules alone.' That's just how it is, isn't it?
