[When Keith really stops to think of it, he's probably been smitten with Shiro since the day they met. Anyone else would have turned him into the cops for stealing his car, but Shiro took him under his wing and stayed by his side throughout everything. But of course, Keith had just been a kid and Shiro already had a boyfriend, so why assume anything was gonna happen? Even after Adam and Shiro broke it off, Keith just naturally assumed his feelings were one-sided and he needed to get over them.

Except, of course, he didn't. He didn't even try, and finding Shiro again after the Kerberos disaster only intensified those feelings. They were always together, Shiro always took special time out for him, and Keith would risk his life to make sure he was safe. Hell, he'd been ready to throw himself out into space and die with the clone he'd assumed was Shiro.

Hell, he'd told Shiro he loved him. And neither one of them had brought it up since. They'd just...continued as they were. Keith with his feelings, figuring Shiro didn't return them, it was just enough to be close to him.

Except everyone else knew that wasn't the case. Literally everyone, especially Axca, who'd had a crush on him since they met up again. At least he'd assumed she had, until that morning. Oh, I am not in love with him! He saved me, we've worked together, but I'm NOT the kind of girl who chases after a taken guy.

She'd been looking at Shiro when she said that.

[ they've been together for a while now, an unspoken arrangement of sorts. just time stolen between missions with voltron and work on the atlas. what they do doesn't matter so much, as long as they're together. most of the time it's going over strategies, talking about their respective adventures, reminiscing over the past. other times it's more. tangled, sweaty bodies and heavy breathing. whatever they're doing, it's exactly how keith likes this. the fact that they're together, especially after all they've been through.

of course, they haven't said anything to the others. there doesn't seem to be any need to announce anything. they are what they are and it seems unnecessary to put a label on it. what they feel for each other is enough for them.

like right now, as he leans into shiro on a couch, kosmo tucked in around his feet. it's quiet. comfortable. and when he leans back for a kiss, he doesn't say anything, just lets it be. ]
