The shouting was coming from the north. Sam had just come from a movie - a comedy! - and what does he hear? Someone in danger. The hunter just couldn't take a day off. As others ran away from the noise, Sam ran toward it. He didn't have a plan, but that had never stopped him before. He didn't dare pull out his demon-killing knife before he knew the situation. Bringing a blade to a mugging wasn't a way to keep a low profile.

Though, given the number of people rushing away from the area, Sam didn't feel confident that it was some mundane situation.

Slowing as he reached the exterior of the fighting, Sam peeked around the building. Within three heartbeats, he pulled back to the protection of the brick building against his back. It looked like a pack of lycans against one person. Teenager by the look of it. He'd counted four, but there could be more. Squatting down, Sam pulled out the six-shooter strapped to his right leg and pulled out it, check the chambers, and snapped them back in place.

Silver bullets hadn't let him down before.

As he swiveled into the line of sight, one of the lycans went flying, or disappeared, Sam wasn't sure. The whine was easily heard so he focused on the other three. He squeezed off three rounds, grazing each of them.

Running into the fray, Sam grabbed up the boy and swung him over his shoulder in a fireman's hold. He didn't know the score, didn't know what was going on, but knew one was less than four. "I'm a friend!" Sam shouted over his shoulder, hoping that whatever happened to the werewolf didn't happen to him.
