[ it'd started out innocent enough. two women, however different, simply going out to speak over a drink or two. her tolerance is high for a young woman, having been scolded for drinking enough to deplete a castle's supply of wine, but she's noticing quickly that what she's had before, at home, is nothing compared to the hard liquor here, both in taste and strength. but she keeps herself in line, despite the impeding dizziness, trying to remember to keep her eyes open (because otherwise, she'd feel the world spin again) and focus on the company sitting across from her.

(so far away, still.)

and polite as she likes to be around those who do not understand (who will not understand), alcohol makes this incident an exception. her eyes flickered toward the still-full glass of wine offered to the girl not too long ago, though her expression remains the same. empty. is something the matter...? she sets her glass down, her tired eyes back on the youth. ]

Are you concerned that I may have poisoned your drink...?

[ Honestly, Mitsuru couldn't have thought of a polite way to decline the drink in the first place. She wasn't of age, and although wine was commonplace at the company events she went to, she herself tended to steer clear of it save for an occasional sip or two. The bartender didn't seem to care too much, which already clued her in as to what kind of establishment this was.

So she's been watching Wang Yi drink her own alcohol at an impressive rate. It may have not seemed like much to her, but to Mitsuru, it's a sight. She smiles politely at the other's question, swirling her wine glass around gently. ]

I'm simply not a big drinker, that's all... [ But just so she won't offend, she sips at her glass slowly. Man, this really isn't very good wine. But she keeps her expression as pleasant as ever. She really doesn't know what to say, so she finds herself filling in the silence with more small sips.

Until the glass is somehow completely gone. She smiles. ]

[ some might call this an act of betrayal, of sorts, the fact that mihai has chosen to partake in such festivities ("festivities," more like, because "getting drunk off your ass on booze and misery" doesn't really roll off the tongue quite as well) in a bar clear across town, rather than indulge in kiri's hospitality. the booze wouldn't have been free there either, but she might have at least been inclined to give him a discount.

still, there's really no practical reason for being there, but considering his reason for seeking it out in the first place isn't all that practical, it kind of fits.

another year, another mistake to wash down with a bottle of jack. mihai should probably stop counting these "anniversaries," but then what would he have to look forward to?

but no, no one worth noting. the weariness only makes it seem that be belongs to a nursing home rather than nursing a glass of liquor. but for all his flaws, she, too, can spy a soldier when she sees one. he's old, but experienced. ]

If it was only to be polite, then the greeting is not necessary. [ here, she would address him by name, if she'd known his name. ] Unless...

[ mihai's frown only deepens, making the worn lines on his face seem that much wider. depressing. it's clear he'd meant to be polite, to help the tension between them ebb a little, because he just couldn't find himself enjoying his drink when just a few inches away he could feel all that negative energy. ]
