midnight texting.

MIDNIGHT TEXTING.
It's midnight. You're texting. You should probably be asleep, but you're not. Whoever you're texting should probably be asleep, but they're not.
Why? Well, that's for you to find out.
You know the rules, but just in case you don't:
- Make a toplevel with your character's name and any prefs.
- Tag around, you ingrates.
- If you're out there to hide a body, don't text a cop?
- It's late and you're tired, so be careful of those misfires!
- Have fun. Or don't. I'm not the boss.

It's a surprise to hear from you.
Is everything alright?

It's a picture of him on the tiny half-balcony of his little apartment. There's a book open on his desk, a red pen in his hand, and his expression is pleasant. Or at least it looks pleasant, there's a grumpy looking pug sticking his face into the frame just so that he covers up the lower half of Kakashi's face. ]

And if he's texting back then he can't be too busy, right? ]
aww, what's wrong, Pakkun? daddy being mean and ignoring you again?
no subject
She's much too sweet to you.
[ He says in a low voice, to which Pakkun responds with a gruff woof, and plants his paw on Kakashi's book. ]
On the contrary, Pakkun is making sure I don't slack off grading these papers. I fell asleep in front of the TV set earlier, now I'm paying dearly for it.
[ Sigh.. His hard life.... ]
Where are you headed?

[ If she were anyone else, she might have actually been a little scared to be on a subway car, alone, in the middle of the night. But as far as trouble went, they were pretty safe. ]
was the nap at least worth it?
no subject
Ah, I hope the emergency wasn't anything too major.
The nap was alright. I ended up having a strange dream that woke me up. It left me feeling kind of dazed, but a strong coffee sorted that out.. so I suppose you could say it was worth it.

[ She hits send without a second thought, smiling even as the little hourglass disappeared to indicate that it had been received successfully. And then, as if to make sure he knew it had only been a joke, she sends another right after, without waiting for a reply to the first one. ]
but nothing too major. our big fancy espresso machine just decided that 10:56 was the perfect time to. you know. explode.
foamy creamer and caffinated beverages /everywhere/. kinda impressive, really.

[ He only ever buys coffee from one place, she should know that. He's nothing if not a creature of habit, comforted by settings he's familiar with, reluctant to sample change in case he's dissatisfied with the results. ]
But ah, that sounds messy. I'm sorry to hear it. I take it espresso will be off the menu tomorrow, then?

[ And she's almost sure he can perfectly picture the way her eyes narrow in all seriousness just as much as she's definitely certain her can hear the threatening tone in her voice... all before the facade falls into the gentle smile and kind eyes that open up her face to a more welcoming demeanor. ]
but no. actually. we can still make those things without the machine in the meantime. just might take a little longer. and i make a mean latte from scratch if i do say so myself~

I have to admit, I don't know much about the ins and outs of coffee aside from how to switch my machine on and refill it. There's a wealth of knowledge out there I could only imagine, I'm sure.
Your talent shows, though, I don't feel nearly as ready for the day as I do when I've stopped by the cafe.
