Take It Slow (inspired by an anon comment by a Hulk player and damn it's hard to find gifts from Hulk 2008.)
There are plenty of memes about skipping to the good part, rushing to sex, being desperate for it, and so on. But what about taking things slow? Some people enjoy that, as well, and still others have need to keep their calm - they're inexperienced and not completely ready or they can't get knock-out, drag-down excited for reasons that can get a bit...dangerous. Or the slowness could be nothing serious; foreplay could just be the word of the day. Then, you'll want to enjoy your time together and not run through the motions of a good time 'till its spent too soon.
They say all good comes to those who wait, so savor every moment and wait for the inevitable to come.

Ooooh Boy.
Says nothing about how a spilled can of red paint had left him paralyzed in the street, unable to breathe. It's not important. He'll get through it in time.
But time ran out.
Bucky didn't even think about it when he had Steve spend the week with him at his apartment. They had so precious little alone time together that he'd jumped at the chance to boggart his friend for so long. Not to mention the fact that they were making up for lost time, now. And Bucky couldn't get enough of pulling his friend in close and tasting his infectious smile.
So he'd brought him here. Got wine to drink. And then, finally the party gets to the bed. Which is exactly where it all falls apart. Once again, Bucky has no idea why. Not while it's happening. All he knows is that, one second, he's happily half-naked and straddling Steve's hips. His new, lighter metal arm is pushing Steve's shoulder into the mattress and he's smirking, bending down for a kiss. And between one blink and the next, everything goes red.
Steve's face is bloody and bruised and his hand hurts because it's hard work damaging a super soldier. He did that. He did that to his friend. He looks around and sees the glass of wine and the red inside isn't wine. Its blood. The blood of the Howards. The blood of innocents. The blood of people he cared about who he couldn't remember at the time and now only remembers begging for their lives. His metal hand grips Steve's shoulder tighter, timelines blurring. He can't remember what he's doing. Why is Steve below him? Are they fighting? Is he trying to run away? Is this the war? Is it Budapest? Is it New York or Washington or miles up in the sky?
He doesn't know. He doesn't know. He can't breathe and he doesn't know.
He must have been running. If he wasn't, he should be. He should be getting away from Steve before he hurts him. Away from everyone. Everyone he could potentially harm. He can't do that again. He can't. So he scrambles off the bed, eyes looking around sightlessly, terrified but focused.
He needs his bag. His journals. And he needs to go. Maybe then he'll be able to inhale again.

So, it's because of that that Steve has decided that it's his responsibility to be the best friend to Bucky that he can be. It's like turning tables, almost. Back when Steve was skinny and sick all the time, Bucky was right there with him, helping him through the hard times, and making sacrifices so that he could get better. Steve's never forgotten any of that, regardless of how long it's been. He knows Bucky is wrestling with his demons, and for the most part, Bucky's winning. But there are the times when the PTSD is triggered, and Bucky becomes lost in difficult memories that Steve can only begin to guess at.
It's during those times that Steve makes good on his promise to be with Bucky forever, until the end of the line, as they always say to each other. He can drag his friend back from the grip of those horrible memories, but it's always a long, laborious process.
Now is no different. One minute, they were lying together, teasing each other with little touches and whispered words, and the next, Bucky's pushing him roughly away and all but jumping off the bed.
"Buck, wait!" He shouts those words the second he regains control of his tongue. Steve slowly approaches his friend, not wanting to startle him when he's already panicking. It's slowly and cautiously, but Steve reaches out with both hands to place them on Bucky's arms, hoping the gesture will calm him and bring him back to reality. "It's just me, Bucky. Just you and me here, and we're safe, all right?"
They've done this before, and Steve's always managed to talk his friend down, but he's always worried that maybe he won't be able to, and Bucky will just up and leave. "Come on, it's safe to sit back down. Nothing's going to happen, I promise." He can't speak to what might happen in the future, but all he knows is that right now, they're safe. Bucky's safe, and no one is going to come between them to blow that all away.
