Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention. And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth. Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy. Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised? How to Play 1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference. 2. Comment to others. 3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

[ It's hardly any kind of ask, after everything they've done for him. What surprises Bucky more is that he'd been considered at all. T'Challa has the entire Dora Milaje at his fingertips to do this kind of work, and Bucky is absolutely sure that one of those women could do as good— if not a better— a job than he could. They have spies as sharp-eyed and slick as Natasha, and when he'd been goaded into sparring with them (an attempt, he's knew even then, to get him off the farm) they'd landed him efficiently on his ass the first dozen times.

Maybe it was the climate of where they were visiting. Maybe they needed a literal man for the situation, even if it was just to stand nearby to do and say nothing. Maybe it was because he was an outsider. Maybe (the more insidious thought suggests) it's because he's expendable.

Or maybe the joke about the White Wolf resting too long hadn't been as much of a joke as Bucky had thought it was.

Shuri is more than capable, even if she doesn't look it at a glance. If it came down to it Bucky has no illusions that she's clever enough to get out— but he's not blind to the way eyes slide to her with open curiousity, then slide to him, and then slide away. It's easy. It's a little like falling back on those publicity stunts he'd done with Captain America. Brood more! The journalists would say, because he couldn't keep his shit together when Steve got to doing his Captain America schpeel. Only here he wasn't just playing background fiddle; he'd been trusted by the King of Wakanda to look out for his mouthy little sister.

Everybody wanted her dead. The symbol of the fall of SHIELD. The assassin of years and years of important souls. They didn't see the years of control. The brainwashing, the programming. They didn't see the scars. As if she showed them.

Instead she stood in the room that was a safehouse. No, she paced in the room that was a safehouse, too conscious of the window that was covered in blackout curtains, knowing that her heat signature was both present and distinctive, what with her arm. That these walls wouldn't stop a large enough bullet. That neither she nor Steve would see it coming if it came to that.

And that she probably deserved it.

[This is Cat's fault. She'd had to go and make more enemies, and not the journalism kind this time, real enemies. Like Livewire, but worse, the kinds of people Supergirl runs after and punches before they can hurt anyone. The backing-up-the-death-threats kind. And then Cat had to go and decide she was going to New York for Fashion Week like she didn't have some crazies out to get her, the board had insisted on protection, Cat had insisted Supergirl was out, Supergirl had to stay behind and keep protecting National City, but of course "Kiera" would be coming with her. And since she wouldn't be much help with protection, Cat would make a call.

Kara had made a call too, and Clark had laughed at her (good-naturedly) and agreed to loop National City in on his patrol for a few days, so that's all right, but now she's here, trapped on the balcony of a really nice hotel, with Cat's chosen protection detail. Cat is, of course, not in a rush, they're already 20 minutes late to yet another designer reception, and Kara's had to work really hard not to crack 1) her phone or 2) the faux marble facade of the balcony railing.]

I'm sure whatever favor she says you owe her isn't really, um, I mean it's probably...used up by now.

i'd be interested in playing a dynamic like the one she has in canon with Rick Flag, which, if you're canon unfamiliar, goes a little something like this -

dr. june moone is a mild-mannered archeologist right up until she unearths an ancient artifact and breaks it. as you do. anyway, said artifact contains the trapped essence of an evil cosmic witch-diety; since the diety no longer has a vessel, into june it goes. poor june is now possessed by evil. super. except, theoretically, she can control said evil, which she envokes by saying the name "enchantress."

except except, as you've already probably guessed, it's not that easy. the witch has much more power than one human woman can hold back.

in the dceu, flag is a federal agent who gets sent in to be june's handler. despite it being taboo, they fall in love...which is what the shadowy higher-ups wanted anyway, since now they have blackmail (and convenient weaknesses) for all party involved.

tl;dr give me a forbidden bodyguard romance with creepy, occult angles, danger, and corrupt governments/secret societies. ]

His brother really was paranoid, overprotective and exceedingly annoying. It was like having a nanny all over again. True he fell riding but doesn't everyone? That's how one becomes an excellent rider. If he were a knight or a squire instead of noble blood no one would have much cared!

And now he's supposed to have not just a valet but a personal bodyguard. Someone to mother him and order him about to not be too dangerous. That was the only excitement he got outside the palace walls. Well. He expects he can give this new one the slip like all the others.
