What a perfect meme for summer amirite. You were just having a normal day out when an angelical snow shower hits you... hard. And now you're trapped with someone else until it passes by. [ The weather report called for clear, cold weather: a perfect day for winter training. Indoor rollers are torment and tedium for a climber, or would have been if if he had one here at this winter hot spring resort he'd been forced to go to with his family. He'd brought his bicycle at least (no one could stop him from that). So, while everyone else was relaxing in the onsen, he put on his tights and his close-fitted cycling jacket, pulled on neoprene booties over his cycling shoes, a skullcap under his helmet, and lobster-mitt cycling gloves, and headed up Mount Hakone.

But as he pedals uphill ever higher, blue sky gives way to gray. The clouds settle in, dropping light snow all around him. He is marveling at how pretty, how quiet everything is, when.... ]

[ ...he hits a patch of hidden ice in the roadway and drifts sideways into a bank of snow at the side of the road. He's unhurt; the snow is like feathers. But by the time he gets up and sets himself to rights, he realizes: visibility here has dropped to near zero. Now he has to decide. He could turn and go back down, but if he hits another patch of ice going downhill at speed, he might not be so lucky as he was the first time. If he keeps going uphill, the weather could worsen. And if he stays put, he'll freeze. ]
