wake up, wake up, it's only a bad dream meme

bad dreams are ordeals, sometimes seemingly endless. when you wake up, your heart pounds, your head hurts, and you end up drenched in sweat. even if you know none of it was real, it takes a while to orient yourself. it is pretty nice to have someone there to wake you up or to soothe you out of it and remind you that... it's only a dream. ••• the usual rules apply. post with your character and preferences and then tag around, have your characters comfort others.

[And Shiro does so, reclining and resting his head against Keith's shoulder, taking in a deep breath. For some reason, laying here now with him, he felt embarrassed, ashamed, he needed this comfort.

Still, Keith was an excellent source of support and comfort for Shiro, even if he claimed to be not good with people.]

Don't apologize. [He wraps his arms tightly around Shiro, brushing a kiss to his temple] You've been through hell more times than anyone can count, you deserve to feel safe.

[Shiro felt safer in Keith's arms. He hummed softly, nestling against the other man and enjoying the warmth. His heart skipped at the feeling of Keith's lips upon his head, an intimate gesture.]

Keith... [Once he buried his face against Keith's shoulder, a faint shudder rippled through his chest.

No. Not now.]

[yousayvoltron]

Shiro? [He feels him tremble a little and frowns softly] Are you cold? You want me to get another blanket? [He reaches for the blankets already over them, tugging them up, pulling them tighter]

[Shiro could have passed it off as the cold, but once Keith moved to retrieve the sheets, the older man clung tighter, his chest still trembling. He didn't Keith to see him, not like this.]

I'm fine. It's alright, Keith.

[Even though the visions still lingered in his mind, growing more intense.]

[yousayvoltron]

You sure? [He rubs Shiro's back in slow circles, his other hand cradling the back of his head. He's worried, of course, but he won't press it too much if Shiro doesn't want to go into it.] All right...just remember, you're safe. I won't let go of you, I promise. [another brush of his lips lands on Shiro's forehead]

[Grateful for Keith's kindness, Shiro returned the favour with a kiss against the other man's cheek. Everything would be alright, he kept telling himself, he had Keith.

He had Keith.]

I trust in you, Keith. I know you will.

[yousayvoltron]

[Keith's heart flutters a bit at the softness of that kiss, and at the other's words. He lets his eyes close, but doesn't start to drift off right away.]

Rest. [He'll stay awake and watch over him as long as he can]

[And Shiro believes it. He knows Keith will always be there for him, as he will be for Keith. Snuggling in, inhaling the comforting scent around him, the Black Paladin finally felt himself grow weary.

Perhaps it was the combination of the calming tea and the exhaustion that always came after an episode, but Shiro knew he would finally be able to sleep tonight, thanks to Keith.

He mumbled drowsily.] Don't deserve you... Keith...

[You deserve him, Shiro, you deserve everything he can give you and Keith lets him know this via one last sleepy kiss to his temple. He can't do any less for the person who changed his world, after all. He can't fight Shiro's demons firsthand, but he can give him a safe place to escape them.]
