wake up, wake up, it's only a bad dream meme |
bad dreams are ordeals, sometimes seemingly endless. when you wake up, your heart pounds, your head hurts, and you end up drenched in sweat. even if you know none of it was real, it takes a while to orient yourself. it is pretty nice to have someone there to wake you up or to soothe you out of it and remind you that... it's only a dream. ••• the usual rules apply. post with your character and preferences and then tag around, have your characters comfort others. |

[i'm good either way, but it seems likelier in the barricade setting that grantaire has less to have nightmares about. okay! let me try a start, haha.]
Enjolras had told them to get some rest, but Grantaire sits morosely under the shadow of the barricades, watching his friends drink or curl up as they will, sleeping like cats ready to jump up at the first sign of trouble. If their information is correct, it may be a long night. To what purpose? He has no faith -- as Enjolras has complained so often -- that tomorrow will not bring their deaths, or their arrests, that all of this won't just be forgotten and swept from the streets.
A soft cry stirs him, more like a strangled swear. The American, an expatriate or perhaps just a rover, he realizes: he knows very little of his background except that he'd lost an arm in some battle and he speaks of his captain with the same sort of intense loyalty and slight sarcastic irritation with which Grantaire regards their own leader. He'd fallen in with the Amis easily, disparaging of monarchy and of tyrants in general. "Barnes," he says, furrowing his brow. Something has caught him, in his sleep, and he hops down from the ledge where he sits to draw nearer. "Bucky, wake up."
