Marriage for love is a such a modern concept. In the past, marriage was
recognised as a social contract. Unions were entered into for many
reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,
et cetera. Whatever the reason, congratulations, you're getting married!

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE:
① Station → You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
② Feud → You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
③ Economics → Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
④ Empire → You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
⑤ Tribute → You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.
⑥ Bloodline → Carrying on your distinguished family name has fallen to you and the equally well-bred spouse of your family's selection.
⑦ Disapproval → Your marriage has been arranged to keep you away from the person with whom you truly wish to be.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:

The Chiss do not approve. The Chiss rarely approve, recently. Thrawn has learned to factor that into his calculations.

He wore black at the wedding. To the Chiss, black is a combination of all the colors of the Houses. It is a symbol that represents all, as well as denoting the honor and skill of a warrior. It seemed quite appropriate; though they dressed in brighter colors, the Aesir were quick to understand the significance of such a symbol. He'd thought correctly.

His husband, on the other hand, did not seem so eager.

She hasn't turned the lights on, and she's reclining comfortably in a chair, black body suit and black boots against skin so pale that it almost glows in the wane starlight shining in through the window.

"So," she says when he comes in. "Are we ever going to talk about... this?" And she flicks her fingers back and forth to encompass the two of them.

He was marrying a man he had never met because it would raise his station. Their families had deemed them a suitable match, although John couldn't imagine why the great Holmes family would want hm, a forme army doctor, to marry their son. Whatever the case, there he stood, about to walk down the aisle and join his finance at the front of the church, a fiancé who was not even facing him, but facing the front.

[While Lucca hadn't really expected her not!family (Or what she called her closest friends who were like family) to really understand that she was growing up, she never expected them to think of such an absurd idea as to make her marry a stranger. Train clearly got way too irritated by the fact that she into dating now. A lot changes in three years. He clearly didn't get that.

It wasn't enough that she loved Kai. Sure, his parents hated her and said she'd kill him if he ever got her mad, but that was just a stupid stereotypical thing they said because they didn't like her job. It was too dangerous for any normal 15 year old. In turn they didn't like her. So what if she was expelled from school because she had her pistols in her locker. She stopped stupid people from coming in and killing half the school right? That's what should have mattered.

As if making her marry a stranger would hold her back. She wasn't the same shy little girls she used to be. Oh no. She was much more outgoing and had a clear sense of justice. She waited in the meeting place quietly. She got a few stares due to her pistols being in her holsters, but that wasn't such a weird sight when you were a Sweeper (bounty hunter).]
