Sworn to the Sword
![]() |
shipping meme It's textbook, really. Or, more accurately, parchment, because you've either found yourself or always been in a time (it doesn't necessarily have to be medieval) where swords - and possibly sorcery - are the weapons and the mindset of the day; at the very least, the rough and tumble attitude that comes with a knife's edge permeates the land. And you know how to wield a weapon, be it a blade, your own body, or something else entirely, so you've put it to good use. You've become a sworn sword to protect someone. It could be out of the goodness of your heart, out of heritage, or stemmed from a desire for compensation or power. No matter what the cause, however, one fact remains the same, and that's how you cannot let emotions cloud your judgment. Of course, that may be a little easier said than done. When you're so close to a person, in order to keep them safe, and when you put your very life on the line... ...ah, but you must persevere. Your duty does not allow you to falter.

He takes the shot it going through what he suspects is a demon's heart... or hopes it's where the heart is as he takes on the one coming from the front.
He takes aim at the other one eyes narrowing, head tilting to the side he takes aim with his bow again and fires twice arrows going through the knees making the man ... creature... not quite human thing drop to his knees. Before scaling down the building.

Matt sends up a quiet prayer of thanks as he senses the demon behind him go down. He doesn't know who his savior is, but he always trusts that God will provide his Knight with the help he needs. He pivoted and sliced down relieving the demon of it's head before pivoting back to attack the creature he'd been fighting before. The Sword of Faith glowed as he fought senses extended in all directions.

He smirks as a shudder runs through the creature. "Don't kill me." He says to Clint.
"Not really up to me."
"I'll do anything, just get that thing out of here..." He says gesturing toward Lucky.
Clint's eyes light up, "Anything?" He laughs a little, he hates this part of himself. "I accept." He says shaking his head.
The demon starts swearing under his breath.
"Sorry my hearing aids aren't turned up.... what was that, Oh I know what I want... Give him the coin."

Matt feels a shiver go down his spine when he hears the dog bark. His senses are picking up something strange but he isn't sure what. His ability to see only extends to what God provides and it isn't much. He feels the demons he's fighting back off and he follows his senses down the fire escape sword in a resting position at his side. He lands softly on the ground soundlessly a tall thin man with red hair dressed in jeans and a solid colored t-shirt. A bamboo cane is held in his other hand his blue eyes looking above anyone else in the alley rather than at them.
"I'm not interrupting anything am I," he asks his voice quiet but firm.

Well this was an interesting turn. Matt calmly holds his hand out for the coin and is quietly pleased when the demon hands it over. He pulls a leather pouch out of his pocket and tucks the coin inside then puts the pouch back in his pocket. "You and yours may go," he tells the demon firmly, "but if you attempt to spread the coins again I will not show mercy again." He senses the demons flee and he turns to his helper and smiles. "Thank you for your assistance," he says as he slides the sword back into it's cane sheath and rests against it.

"No prob, I try to keep that shit out of Brooklyn."

Matt nods. "I believe that not even the Fallen are without hope," he replies, "I've known some who have turned back to the light and given up their coins." He might have been the one to ease them in that direction. though he would never admit it. "I'm Matt by the way. I grew up not far from here in Hell's Kitchen before I took up the sword."

Matt's stomach growled and he nodded. "I like any sort of food," he says never one to turn down a meal when it is offered. He shifts the cane in his hand so that it is extended in front of him and he moves forward sweeping it from side to side. "What's good in the city these days?"

"It's good to know there are still good people in the city," Matt replied easily, "though I haven't lived here since I was in my early twenties when I got the Call." It hadn't been easy life but Matt knew he was doing good and following the will of God.

"Most of us just consider taking up a sword a call from God himself," Matt said, "and people are people no matter where they hail from."

"I feel things in my heart," Matt answers, "the Call is different for everyone and believe you me I didn't pick up the sword right away. Why would God, whoever they are choose a blind man with his own plans. But then the sword helped me do some real good and I realized I couldn't deny what they wanted from me."

Matt takes the menu running his hands over it. "I'm fine....my senses are enhanced which makes it easier to see with what senses I do have. Thank you for offering though," he smiles at Clint. "So do you mind me asking what half of you is what or is that a bit touchy?"

Matt nods. "Indeed," he agrees, "and yes....thin crust with meat lovers and olives if you don't mind. Add whatever other toppings you want I'm not super picky. You can't be when someone else is at the wheel."
no subject
"You're allowed to be a little picky... and you're still at your own wheel."

Matt smiles. "Being a Knight of the Cross doesn't exactly pay much. I have a law firm in Chicago I work for when I'm not Called. I work with the supernatural elements because even they need a lawyer from time to time."

Matt laughs softly. "Make it worth my while and I might stay for a while."

"The pizza is a good start," Matt replied, "and then maybe a tour of Hell's Kitchen. It's been a while since I've been home...might be nice to see if anything has changed."
