Love oftentimes means softness, kindness, and attention to the one you care for. Loving sex is no exception. We have a lot of "fucking" memes here: mid-fuck, pre-fuck, post-fuck, so on and so forth. We don't, however, have a lot of making love memes.

And basically all of this has been an awkward segway into a gentle smut meme! No fucking here, just tender touching and lots of care.

"But my character is a huge jerk and/or has the emotional range of a braindead pet rock and/or only fucks like an animal in the sack," I hear you scream from the streets. Not to worry, there are plenty of prompts that can turn even the coldest heart to mush...or there's some negative ones, too. Besides, can't LOVE change anything? That's fancy talk for "it's a meme, go with it."

[ this was pretty new territory for nick. not in the sense that he'd never been with another sentient being. he had, although his partners had been far too few in his painfully expansive lifetime. but he'd never been with--well, someone of bigby's caliber. he's well aware that at this point, between the two of them, they'd seen some pretty incredulously unfathomable things. and the two of them had come to an understanding in their partnership that neither one of them were any better or any worse than what they'd already encountered.

he's curious. while he's experienced his abundance of fantastical mutations and bizarrely tragic experiments in the commonwealth, not once had he ever come across a werewolf. that is, until bigby wolf came around. the man was literally the stuff of fairy-tales. things nick had only ever heard of prior to the great war and even then, it had always been at the passing-pits and pictures. never in reality. hell, the real nick valentine probably would have scoffed at the very concept.

but thing aren't what they used to be, are they? and if nick's own existence is of any indication, reality has proven to extend outside of textbook science and reason. if he can't even understand himself, how the hell can he possibly judge anyone else?

with this in mind, it's not only bigby's biology that fascinates him--it's everything else about the man. he's been a showman of a detective. his ability to crack some of the most mind boggling and troubling of cases whilst always pushing to think "outside" of the box has been impressive. and ever since they've teamed up, there've been constant results. more than usual. nick likes to pride himself as a fair enough detective, but it's not always that he has such a noteworthy partner.

so... despite his own repercussions regarding his own physicality, he's willing to take the plunge tonight. test his limits. make an effort at connecting with another living, breathing, being on a physical level.

he steps up to the flat of his agency, clearing his throat a bit as he loosens his tie. ellie's already taken off for the night and bigby's still crashing on the spare couch. it's the least he can offer in a hellhole like diamond city.

but he's gonna take it slow at first. start with some casual conversation and then... work his way up to taking the plunge. ]

Pretty sure you managed to bag your first "day off" since being here. How's it feel? Not one case thrown at us in a whole grand-spanking twenty-four hours. I'd say that's grounds for celebration.

[Bigby glances up from the couch, one arm splayed behind his head, the other one sprawled over it, peeking between the folds of his fingers.]

Feels the same way it does back home: too good to be true.

[He never gets days off, and when he does, they usually turn into early mornings off since he's almost always called back into work well before noon. So excuse the hell out of him that he's just the tiniest bit suspicious that this won't last and the same old song and dance is going to be repeated here except with the added bonus of having to throw down with — what are these guys again — hopped up mutants and Mad Max-looking motherfuckers instead of magical creatures. Honestly, he'll take the mutants any day. They're just mundies in a different form anyway.

The robots are a little different, though — or synths, seeing as that's what they're called here and seem to prefer it to varying degrees over the sci-fi jargon Bigby's used to back in his world (and God, the fact that he's calling that world his like it's a real home compared to this one feels so damn surreal) so he's not about to ruin what little and fragile good will is being extended to him. He's never seen anything quite like Nick Valentine before, though he's heard stories of creatures similar to him in the Homelands: wooden dolls animated by magic, clockwork soldiers who can move and fight just as well as the real ones, fake humans that look and sound just like the real ones with the exception of anything remotely warm or living inside them. It's taken working with one on a personal level for him to realize just how fucked the concept is, as if this man (and it's so much easier to think of him as one) and everything that makes him unique and competent and just real is preprogrammed and fake.

It's uncomfortable, and distressing on a level Bigby feels shouldn't bother him as badly as it does, so he doesn't think of Nick like that, or at least tries not to. Little hard seeing as how his skin looks so old it's in the process of sloughing off, but so what? It's not like he's the picture of normality himself.]

What'd you have in mind? No offense, but you don't look like the partying type. [He says that despite the way his eyes narrow in on the way Nick loosens his tie. That's a pretty telling detail, but he'd like to hear it himself rather than see it. Call it a quirk.]

[ never fear, bigby. peace is virtually nonexistent in the commonwealth. sooner or later, some asshole or collective group of assholes will wind up riling up the wrong person in diamond city. and more often than not, that means they'll come wailing to the valentine detective agency. it's never any level of menial dewdroppers either. it's always molls, dolls, goons and grifters. gals and fellows who are more often than not on the losing side of gang-war or some shady level of scuffle.

nick likes to think he vouches for the right team. he tries to put his cases in perspective. attempts to convince himself that more often than not, he's fighting the right fight. but when it comes down to it, there aren't a whole lot of honest folks left in the commonwealth. especially not in diamond city.

which is why he appreciates bigby for the demeanor he tends to give off. he's not gentle or apologetic. he's direct and forthcoming. granted, one of nick's biggest weakness is that he can be too--frugal and lax when it comes with his approach on things. while he's all fair and square with being direct, he can't justify aggression when he doesn't deem it necessary. not cruelty. the actual man who's consciousness had been installed into this body had existed in a different time and place. and that man's nature is still his nature.

that said, he's pretty awful at his approach when it comes to--this sort of thing. he's got a fantastic handle on interrogating the guilty and grilling witnesses but--as far as actual, physical, mutual interest goes, he struggles. blame it on the fact that he fought through levels of self-hatred and body dysmorphia before coming to the level of okay he is with himself now.

the comment earns a short laugh, followed by a slight quirk of the lips. ]

Guilty as charged. Guess I lost my interest in "partying" when I woke up with no affinity or taste for jag juice.

[ he shrugs, taking a seat next to bigby. fortunately, he's not about to push and level of full-blown awkward robo-sex here unless reciprocated. but he's going to feel things out at first. ]

That said, I feel like I owe you something--for helping me out here. Hell, you could have continued to just crash here so long as you didn't muck up the place or cause a ruckus with any of my clients--but you didn't. You actually helped. It's more than a lot of fellas have done for me in my lifetime.
