[ Her house is finished and liveable, and they've made steady progress making every inch of the place their own (after a very pleasurable fashion). But sometimes there are projects that Percy needs his original workshop for, and when he gets caught up in a project, Vex knows well enough by now to check he's getting and eating meals regularly.
And, sometimes, remembers to take a break from such work.
Vex is very good at providing a reminder for such things. As well the being the cause of interruptions herself.
Case in point: she lets the door to the workshop close quietly behind her, before carefully sliding the latch. It wouldn't do for for the interruption to be interrupted, after all, even without her bear to stand guard.
Attentive as the guards are, Vex preens to herself that none noticed her tiptoeing through, slippered feet a whisper on cold stone carrying familiar blue out of line of sight. His blue, not hers: Vex is fairly swallowed within the comfort of Percival's traveling coat.
Taking a moment to admire her husband's profile as he works (and oh, how butterflies still dance around her stomach at the pleasure found in that open secret), she adjusts the collar to show off the curve of her collar bone, before clearing her throat. ]

[The nicest thing about having a workshop in Vex's new manor, besides all the concequence-free sex, is how easy it is to hide away and work without inturruptions. No guards or councilmen or little sisters around to just wander down and disrupt whatever his project for the month is. Also, it's nicer to be in someplace new and not the sad little makeshift shop he'd managed to scrape together as a teenager.
But really, the concequence free sex.
The puzzle for this month, and indeed, a month previously, is the steam pipe project. The schematics are all out and perfected, naturally, but the sticking point is materials. What to make them from, to have both durability and also efficient heat transfer. Surely not cast iron; and though he hates to say it, lead is right out as well. Both are so wonderfully useful in their own rights, but here they would just cause disaster.
Percy is deep within his notes when Vex slips in quietly. He notices after too long that he has a visitor, but it's simple to figure it's his wife (!!!). If it were Tary, he'd be going à mile a minute.]

[Percy barely gives her a glance and an absent little smile, before going right back into his notes. Gold? No, of course not, that would be silly.]
I promise I'm not wasting away into nothing, I ate an hour ago.[He gestures to a plate pile next to him. Decidedly not from an hour ago.] You're naked under my coat, I take it?

[Playfully arch, perhaps Percy can hear the mock pout in her voice as she approaches slowly. Pleased he acknowledged her, but equally certain she was in the right to descend. He did at least eat - three hours ago, when a portion of lunch was sent down - but he needs a break. ]
I found this left behind in my house. In my room. [the world may never know how it got there] Clearly that means it belongs to me.
[ Finally she leans over him, chest pressed to his back and along the length of his chair, and arms move to drape lazily over his shoulders, fingers sliding along fabric and wirey muscle. Lowering her head, she noses his hair lightly, trailing down until she can press a kiss against the back of his neck, tickling the hairline. ]

[ Even with her intent to eventually distract him from his work, her question is a sincere one; Vex finds everything her hyper intelligent tinkerer makes fascinating. ]
[can't deny it, though. Everything he has is hers and he's glad for it. He belongs to her. He's just renting himself out for the convenience of it.
For example, how could he do his work if he were locked up in her room all day?]
I'm having some trouble, unfortunately. [Percy gives her a tight little smile, flipping his notes over for her to see better.] The plans aren't the problem, of course, but materials are another question. Iron is going to rust quickly, and even carrying heated water the winter freeze is going to do a fair bit of damage. Now, we could manage with lead, but I've been doing some reading recently and there's some fascinating writing about possible poisoning from close contact, so—
[Oh, and he's off. It's one of those weeks, where he dives so deep into a project he leaves his senses outside his workshop door. Even the feel of lips on his neck and breasts pressed into his back only get him to trip over his words for a moment. He babbles, pulling more notes over and really, he's talking to himself out loud at this point.
It's easy to see how he lost two whole hours earlier.]
[ Murmured into his hairline, before she shifts a bit, resting her chin on his shoulder as she adjusts left arm to remain looped loosely about Percy's shoulder, while the other drops and slides under his arm, briefly hugging him to her coat clad form, before fingers reach to slowly turn the pages.
He has been dedicated to this ever since he set his mind to making something that would improve so many lives. He natters on, and Vex can't help but smile even as he leaves her behind. He'd snap right back and clarify something if she asked, and its a source of pride for her that he considers her nearly as smart as he is.
But it's clear, too, that he's frustrated, and caught up in knots, no longer able to see the forest for the trees. Reaching up, her left hand runs fingers through his hair, distracting and soothing in a single motion. ]
—but the question, then, does it dissolve into the steam? So I've actually been corresponding with—ah...
[It's the hand in his hair that grinds Percy slowly to a halt, like brakes on a cart. It suddenly occurs to him just how closely his wife has wrapped her body around his, like she's a particularly stealthy snake and he's a mouse about to get squeezed to death.
[ She nuzzles in close, lips curving into a smug little smile, before she begins sliding around. Never letting go of him, not entirely, left hand lifting and combing through again, slowly.
He has realised his folly too late. All the better for her, as she nudges his glasses down his nose by the bridge. ]
How about you set aside the paperwork for now, and you find something else to occupy your mind for a little while.
[ Said, as she finally slides between him and the desk, settling on his lap decisively.
Oh. Well, yes, of course. Why you're here in the first place.
[There are only ever two reason vex comes to the workshop: to distract him utterly, or if he's making something for her and she wants to play with it. And because pipes aren't exactly Vex'ahlia toys...]

Already taken care of. [said while tapping his nose lightly; even if Trinket wasn't guarding the corridor, the staff of Whitestone Castle know better than to interrupt them both by now.] And with all due respect, darling, Tary has no need to know what we get up to, on your desk or otherwise.

[And then she's moving in, welcoming the kiss he offers as she moves to straddle his lap properly. He is a very good kisser, her husband, and there's a contented noise in her throat as he finds better use for those clever hands while doing so. He can no doubt feel the way her lips smirk against his as they seek her out beneath his cloak.
