In his lifetime, Vrenille has been a lot of things to a lot of people--to a lot of men. Dance instructor is, to be fair, a new one, but then this whole situation, even this whole world is a new one for him, the result of a chain of freak chance occurrences that landed him in a very strange city without the slightest notion how to get home. It's not the worst situation he's ever been in, but it's certainly not his favorite, and when he arrived there was a steep learning curve.

It's been a few months since then, though. He's managed to adapt. Sort of. He's learned enough about cell phones and modern communication to maintain a few contacts, enough about the culture to keep his magic and his origins superficially disguised (so long as no one quizzes him on history, at least), and enough about the law to know what a man can say he's selling to another man, regardless of what's actually on offer. Truth be told, he's breathtakingly homesick, but it's a truth he keeps hidden behind well-practiced smiles and charm.

He offers discretion, companionship, a sympathetic ear, and tonight (apparently) dance lessons to a man who's really far too handsome and polite to have half the relationship hangups that he evidently has.

Vrenille doesn't know who Steve Rogers is; if he's heard of Captain America it wasn't in any way that stuck--his cultural reference pool is just a bit too thin for that. It takes all of about three minutes for him to suss out that he's a guy who's holding a candle for someone though, probably in tried and true "it's complicated" fashion. Well, that's all right by him. Maybe he'll end up playing agony aunt tonight too. But first he has to get Steve past this breathtaking awkwardness he's got just standing in the same room with a man whose sexual availability is implied by his job. Euphemistic job titles like "male escort" notwithstanding, there's absolutely no script for whatever is (or isn't) going to happen in the privacy of this hotel room, aside from (hopefully) some learning to dance.

It is a pretty nice hotel room, Vrenille will grant--big enough to open from sleeping area to a small sitting room, ample space, creamy colors, crisp white linens, big windows that show the twinkle of city lights in the night sky, and a handy smartphone dock by the TV. He puts some music on. Old jazz tunes as it turns out, because he still hasn't quite decided what he thinks of the stuff he hears piped into all the shops here. Jazz strikes him as less of an aural assault, even if it's nothing like familiar to him.

"Afraid you're gonna have to suffer my music choice unless you got something better," he smiles, turning. "And you can take your jacket off. The dancing part usually works better that way."

Steve wasn't sure how it happened. One minute he was fighting the latest in a long list of crazed villains who wanted to take over the world and the next...

He was standing in front of the Stork Club in his dress uniform instead of the uniform that Coulson had helped design. Ducking into an alley, he watched the people around him, shocked when he realized that they were talking about the end of the war, celebrating the soldiers coming back home. It was over, they were all going home.

And somehow, so had he...

Steve knew that he shouldn't interact with anyone. This was a glitch caused by science or magic. He needed to return to the era he'd woken up in after the ice, but then he saw two familiar people enter the club. It had to be his imagination, but he couldn't stop himself from following. One looked like Howard and the other...

Had Peggy really kept their date?

Following them inside, he tried not to look too obvious as he kept track of them, trying to find some sign that this was an illusion or some kind of hallucination that would prove that he hadn't really returned home.
