Five-thirty. Gymnastics practice had been cancelled. And it was Friday afternoon, meaning no class tomorrow, which meant all the more time to spend with Bucky. Even if he had work to do over the weekend--edits or critiques, whichever--she never minded just being there with him, curled into a ball on his couch, watching him while he pecked away at his laptop, or scribbled notes in a notebook. She took no end of enjoyment in just watching him, sometimes.

Her roommate had opted to remain on campus this weekend, which was a bit of a disappointment, but perhaps she could cajole Bucky into letting her sleep on the couch for a couple of nights; what was the harm, really? Shouldering her customary duffel, Natasha slung it and a light jacket over her shoulder, and set off across campus for what had become "their" tree, a bounce in her step which had little to do with the arch support in her tennis shoes.

[ It wasn't as if sleep had ever been a necessity for someone, or rather something such as Adrian, but that had never stopped him from partaking in the leisurely activity regardless. Lately, however, it seemed nearly impossible.

His mind was always thinking, always searching for answers and logic and reason where he knew there was none. It was exhausting. And as much as he wanted to quiet those endless thoughts of his, even if only for a little while, that too seemed to be a futile attempt. There was only so much he could handle for so long on his own, which is probably the reason why he finds himself at Mananan's doorstep in the middle of the night.

But why here? Of all the places and all the people he knows? Even Adrian isn't sure. It's been almost a year since they last saw one another and it's not like it wasn't uncommon for either of them to make a sudden appearance. Of course, it's always been for sex.

That's kind of the last thing on his mind tonight though as he finally convinces himself to knock -- just once, before he's suddenly pulling away and stepping back -- as if realizing coming here just may have been a terrible mistake. Arms wrapping tight around himself, he turns his back to the door but also hesitates to leave.

Exactly how would dragging Mananan down into his mess of a love life be beneficial for either of them? If anything it would ruin what they have now. But at this point, having been pushed so close to his limits in the last few weeks, it was hard to think about consequences when he felt like he could break down at any moment.

As soon as the door opens Adrian turns to throw himself at the other, hugging him tight and burying his face into his shoulder; regretting every second of it but also feeling like an enormous pressure just lifted from his entire being. ]
