[ it was 5am. he was exhausted, more than after two rounds in the ring with dinah. the bed was soft and inviting him to go back to sleep. he debated it for a while before he looked to his side. there he was; bruce latching on, arms wrapped around him and fingers loosely curled. it would have been cute if he didn't have to head back to oa in five hours. then it's just sad. it'll be another three weeks before he's back on earth. he spares another look back, back at bruce and his awfully beautiful face, marred by a cut on his jaw where the cowl doesn't cover.

he hates going but he's got to. he's got to do it now or he won't ever, he'll just stay here forever and be a good and honest kept man or something instead of going to save some poor planet from disaster of the day.

yeah, it's time to rip the band aid off.

hal shifted little by little until he was out from those arms and he could sit up and get out of the bed.

he's an idiot for thinking he could sneak out and definitely not awake enough for it. he's trying to find his briefs in the trail of clothing they left in their rush. it's too dark. hal only finds one shirt after another. too damn dark. and without thinking about it, he calls the ring to him, leaving the room glowing green for the second it took to rest back on his hand.

It was a nice night. They had dinner, talked shop, joked a little, she was kind of mean to him in the way he likes, and then he walked her home -- holding her hand the whole way. She smiled at him in the way that made his heart a little tight when he rubbed his thumb over her knuckles and then when she invited him up for a drink, he didn't say no.

And one would think from there it would be, what, a drink, some kissing, sex? But they didn't even do that and Scott's wondering if he's weird for not caring about it. No, they went upstairs, had some wine, got in a small argument over engineering practices, kissed a little and then --

Then she yawned and he offered to go, but Hope said no so coming up for a drink ended up genuinely just... coming upstairs for a drink. He stripped down to his boxers and a t-shirt as she changed into her pajamas, they got into bed and fell right asleep. He doesn't even remember what happened after he got into the bed, he must've been more exhausted than he realized.

Now, it's morning and there's sun creeping through Hope's curtains and Scott doesn't really want to get up, no, but he probably should. Instead he's just kind of nuzzling at her shoulder and pressing his face into her hair (it smells like green tea). He closes his eyes and just keeps, well, cuddling her.

Geez, when did he become such a sap? ]

( now he's really gone and done it. it's really the only thought that comes to mind as tomoki looks over the smaller form curled against him like a cat when he wakes up — messy blue hair tangling, and maybe even drooling a little. or a lot. who knows, what matters is that dice is hardly the picture of charm right about now, despite the position they're in. you were supposed to learn from others' mistakes, tomoki, and maybe if he had he wouldn't be aware of the way his situation is rapidly beginning the downward spiral that yata's took at that time. can't be helped though. it is what it is. they're here now. he hasn't quite figured out what he's supposed to do about this, but leaning to his side with his cheek resting on his palm to get a better look at dice, he uses his free hand to absently run his fingers through the other's hair.
