MAKING MAGIC MEME Magic is something intensely intimate. Whether it's something inherent in you from when you're born or something drawn out in rituals and summonings, it's full of depth and wonder and potential dangers. Maybe you're showing someone that doesn't have magic what you can do, maybe you're sharing magic with someone you love, winding things together. Maybe you're heading out with some friends to make a salt circle and do some summoning. The point is you're not in it alone. You're sharing in this intimate experience whether it's new for you or old hat. Take care of yourselves and each other; hope that the person you know isn't prejudiced against magic. • Top level your character. Include any details you might think are relevant. Or don't. As always, we're not the cops. • Naturally you can AU your characters to have magic or AU them into other canons that have magic! Don't let a "mundane" setting deter you. • Reply to other people's top levels! • Have fun!

It'll just be the last five minutes, he tells himself. And they've certainly done nothing of consequence in that time. Even if it doesn't work, it'll be fine. Definitely not going to backfire horribly. Oh Merlin.

Newt strongly believes that dragons, like most magical creatures, are vastly misunderstood by humans. Not that they aren't dangerous, but for the most part, if humans give them no cause to be, they'll keep to themselves.

And they are magnificent, by themselves. He's gotten the chance to work with dragons much more closely than most, and it's proven some of the most rewarding work in his life.

Today finds him out in the wilds of Wales, watching a couple of Common Welsh Greens with his suitcase by his side as he takes notes. The weather is mild and beautiful, a slight breeze rustling through his tangled hair as much as it does the trees. One of the dragons shifts, and a group of babies emerges, playfully snapping at one another, their growing wings fluttering about them. Newt smiles, utterly content.

Which is, naturally, when he spots the group of wizards approaching from the opposite path, wands out and expressions of dark glee on their faces. Immediately, Newt tenses, recognizing them for what they are: hunters. Poachers. Those who would do evil to these dragons who are harming no one.

Newt efficiently disguises himself and his suitcase, backing into a group of trees, his wand aimed carefully at the center of the group.

In a moment, one's robes have caught on fire, another has been stunned, and a third has boils growing on his face. They make quite a lot of petulant noise, and the dragons are quick to take notice.

Is Newt petty enough to hope the dragons finish them off? Perhaps just a smidge.
