The slave auction meme

⧠Leave a comment with the character's name, fandom, and whether your character will be playing the part of 'slave' or 'master', plus preferences for scenarios if you have any.
⧠Respond to others with one of the scenarios below or feel free to make up your own.
⧠Please remember to be respectful of others while you play
Warning: Be aware that this meme deals with dark subjects like slavery and may also contain non-consensual/dubiously consensual sex, violence, and kink.
SLAVES
1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.
2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.
3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.
4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.
5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.
6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.
7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.
MASTERS
1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.
2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.
3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.
4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.
5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?
6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.
7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.
As always, feel free to use a combination of scenarios or make up your own if you have other ideas.

A bit of Dark (or more like Gray) John?
He hears the bell and looks up, knowing full what it represents. Another auction. It brings no reaction out of John. Slavery has existed his whole life. No one thinks anything of it (unless they are a slave, he supposes). He's been taught not to see anything wrong. It keeps the prisons from becoming overcrowded and homeless people off the street.
There is cruelty, no doubt. Some organisations and charities trying to stop it but they receive little government support. You get fined more for beating your dog than not feeding your slave properly. That's a bit messed up, he thinks. But then maybe dogs learn quicker than humans sometimes.
For the first time he stops. Because part of him knows he isn't desperate for a new car. His Renaut still has a few more good years in her. But what he does need is someone to keep his flat tidy.
Someone to talk to. Maybe more...
It can't hurt to have a look, surely. His father bought a slave girl, Anya, after his mother died. She was quiet and helpful, well behaved. His dad only had to hit her once for her to never speak out of turn again. And he never heard her scream when he took her to his room at night. They are allowed to say no to that, after all. She didn't, at least as far as he knows.

They had been here, sold as powerful but unruly slaves. dangerous to the point where their price had dropped drastically with everyone owner they scared into reselling them. They had built quite a reputation by now, for the multitude of slave owners and trainers they had teleported halfway into walls, sent to the hospital or worse. (But no deaths. Never that.) It was not without its consequences, however, the least of which were the shock collars they'd forced on them after a lot of struggle.
The other consequence was naturally that eventually, people would realize that they would probably be easier to handle if they were isolated from each other.
So, even though they were bought as a set, they had been herded into separate rooms after purchase, without being told where the others were going to be. As expected, it had taken knocking them unconscious to get them separated (and even then, Kaoru's fingers had had to be pried off before they could take Shiho and Aoi away).
When Kaoru woke up, she was alone, in a room with only the barest necessities. She had banged on the door, kicked it until there were dents all over but it hadn't given into her attempts to break it down.
That was a while ago (how long ago she couldn't say without any way to tell time). After she had exhausted her energy she had curled up in the corner, her knees drawn up and her arms wrapped around them, She had her forehead pressed against her knees. She wasn't defeated because defeated meant giving up and she absolutely wasn't going to do that. She was going to get Shiho and Aoi out with her.
The fact that she had tears stinging her eyes wasn't a sign of surrender or fear. (She'll be fine in a moment. All she needed was a moment.)]

Which was why she was lying, barely dressed, on Kylo Ren's bed, leaning back on her elbows and red hair spilling over the edge. "I'm Lydia." She smiled. "A present from Hux. Or rather what he actually said was 'Your job from now on is to keep that idiot Kylo distracted.' But he had to transfer me to your possession to get me in here." She smiled, trying to show that she was now loyal to her new Mistress.

They make him buy the arm separately. Displayed in a black satin case that looks half like a coffin, Aurus gets the distinct impression that the arm has been deemed more valuable than the man, and that's before they tell him the price.
Perhaps it's just an interesting artifact to them. Or perhaps they get a kind of perverse pleasure from it. The Awakened, after all, have never had much respect for bodily integrity, and Aurus knows that the only reason this deal is being made at all is because they've learned, through grizzly trial and error with other of the strange humans who seem to have materialized on Istan's shores, that these odd "arrivals" to the world Awaken poorly if at all.
In that respect, they're like Aurus's own race--the sylvari--who also cannot be reanimated after death.
No small few of these odd new humans (the more tractable and mild, Aurus takes it) have been sold to loyal Vabbians to the north. For those that remain here in Istan, the Mordant Crescent has been left to dispose of them as they please, whether for profit or entertainment.
At one time they filled the cages hanging from the tall rocky spire called the Pillar of the Faithless. Now most of the cages are empty. This grizzled, one-armed man is one of the few that remains. Aurus chooses him because, by the look on the Arbiter's sunken, dead face, he's a sort of favorite of theirs, and whatever that entails, he's sure it cannot be good. Then he barters hard, but he still pays a huge price: a small fortune for the man, and even more for the arm.
They deliver his purchase to him in shackles--iron collar, his single wrist chained to his waist, and ankles linked by a chain short enough to make walking difficult. (Unbeknownst to his new "slave," Aurus carries the arm concealed in a bag slung across his back.) The jailer gives him no keys, and when he protests, it's met with a shrug that can't quite manage to pass as disinterested. "Must've lost 'em."
The sylvari lofts his brow. "Between the cell and here? We've dangerous terrain to cross. I need him mobile."
"Not my problem." The jailer's leathery grey lips stretch across bone-white teeth. In the dark, sunken sockets of his eyes, something bright seems to glint. He leaves them without another word. Evidently "life" as a reanimated mummified corpse can still leave one with a certain morose sense of humor.
It's nearly dusk, though not dark enough yet for the bioluminescent glow of Aurus's skin to show. Nonetheless, he is unmistakably a plant.
His skin is like the surface of a hosta leaf, his hair like long fern fronds, and there's a distinctly plant-like smell about him--something between marjoram and creosote. He's heavily armored, and heavily armed, though the style of it all is somewhat antique--the carefully tooled breastplate, the sheathed sword on which he rests a casual hand, the warhammer worn on his back which must take massive strength to swing. He's nearly six and a half feet tall and conveys an impression not unlike an oak.
He looks down at the man with an even, measured calm. When he speaks, his accent sounds vaguely English. "Your name?"
