Oh, come on. I could come up with ideas for this too. But I'm being good and working like an adult. Really.

So, it's like the future (I don't care how far into the future, and it probably only matters related to whether Chuck and Mags are still alive). And John's been with the Brotherhood forever, and Rogue's still with the X-Men. And the Brotherhood and X-Men are REALLY at war. Like no more "oh hai, we're enemies but you'll still keep our jet from crashing"... Maybe Xavier IS dead and so now Magneto has like zero reason to not completely want to destroy the X-Men?)

So John and Rogue are older, have moved up in the ranks of their respective sides, and are both fiercely loyal to their own respective sides. But they also meet up in war-torn, beat to hell motels and Morlock tunnels and crap for away time from this giant war going on. It's very clandestine. Also very stupid to be doing.
