Arranged Marriage Turned More To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? This union has been tainted from the start, forever bearing the chains of an arranged marriage. It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them. Much less love them... Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

Magnus can remember a time when arranged marriages- to use the nice, inoffensive human term for these things- were common between packs. It stopped territory disputes, put new blood and new ideas into packs that would otherwise have crumbled. It was almost always at someone's political and financial advantage, but such was the way of these things. Nowadays they were rare, if only because with the progression of the 20th century, they had fallen out of favour with humans and sooner or later, pack fashion followed human.

There has never been such a long distance arrangement. One side of a country to another was common enough, but a different continent? But that was Magnus Macaire, never one to do anything by halves. Not when it would give him good reason to spend time in the Americas under the guise of getting settled with his new wife. Which he full intended to do, of course, but solidifying his own power and his own fortune on the other side of the pond would be beneficial.

She did look very beautiful, long red hair falling about her shoulders, the ivory of her skin. Sat there watching her, he knew hould not have done any better, if beauty had been his only reason for perusing a marriage with Doctor Finn. But gone are the days when a woman is only considered beautiful if outwardly pleasing. From all accounts Doctor Finn is also incredibly intelligent. And, of course, rumours of the chronicles she possesses.

He raises the tea cup to his mouth to hide a little smile, his eyes softening. Married life probably isn't going to be too bad, at least for him. Even if it is eternal.

( HI. The extent of my knowledge of your character comes now from a quick perusal through your journal lol. That being said, would you be interested in hashing something out with these two? I can easily make Lioriley pretty much anything. A noble/princess set to marry him to further her family's status (or vice versa) or maybe a lower-ranking member of society hoping to garner more wealth and prosperity by taking on his name. If you have other ideas I can do whatever and I'm more than willing to start once we figure things out.

[MY FAVOURITE MEME. :> Within her canon, it'd be easy to justify an arranged marriage to settle a feud between survivors, solidify a merger of communities, a matter of tribute/capture, or to help ensure everyone's got skin in the game for some kind of longterm deal (our meds for your food or w/e). (It'd also probably be be easiest if it's Dawn/Grady Hospital making the deal rather than Rick & co.!) If you've got another idea, or if there's something in your canon that you like the idea of, I'm all in favor! Interested in both canon and cross-canon CR, happy to do things in her world, your character's world, some kind of forced-marriage jamjar, or a complete AU! This is one of my favourite tropes, and I'll gladly play it any way I can.]

It wasn't the first time she'd come, but Steve might notice that it was the first time that Loki had been so subdued when they parted ways for the Allmother to return home, something troubling the trickster without a doubt, to the point that he avoided everyone, even his husband.

And thus it continued, days in which Steve rarely saw Loki other than for the occasional meal, or when it was time to sleep. The god tried to act normal when they spoke dancing around the subject of his troubled state for all any question of it earned a tightness to his smile, something uneasy in his laughter.

Unable to bring himself to admit his worries, however unfair it was to Steve. He truly was selfish at times, wasn't he?]

*Ishgard is a pretty dang hetero place, at least wrt MARRIAGE and FAMILY, but I'm willing to pretend otherwise for funtimes' sake.

Estinien is ~the bestest azure dragoon~, which means he's got some status going on (not that one would. know it. to look at/talk to him). So the marriage could be a power grab on the part of the other party's family. Alternatively/in addition, he could be under pressure himself to marry to demonstrate Proper Ishgardian Family Gentleman-ness. (also, for Dragoon OCs pre-HW, would probably consent to 'yeah let's just get convenience-married so you can go inside the walls of the city'.)

Available as prior-HW and post-HW (former better for conflict, latter better for fluff). Willing to write starters for XIV characters.
