THE CRACK PAIRING MEME

An unusual relationship of any kind of fandom (i.e. books, television shows, movies, ect.) that is unlikely to happen.

Randomly take two characters… they don’t have to know each other, they don’t have to show ANY signs of a relationship, and hook them together. That is a crack pairing.

We all know them. Fandoms have fostered these little gems of shipping since the early days, and now, they can even be serious contenders in even the most hostile of shipping wars. Maybe they're absolutely ridiculous and only "for the lulz." Perhaps they make perfect sense...if you squint. Whatever the case may be, these so-called "crack" pairings are not canon and they're nowhere near as popular in fandom as the big fanon pairings.

Most of the time.

Of course, it's important to note that a lot of the time in RP, pairings are always crack pairings. Especially crossover ships, which canon purists would deride purely for being impossible. Still, in memes, that's less likely to happen because people either stick with canon ships, fanon ships, or close CR because of the lack of opportunities for development that games offer.

Not here. This meme is for ALL your ridiculousness, all your high school fangirl dreams, and just plain not being sorry for your ships. Think these characters would be cute together? Go for it. That character has adorable icons and that all you know about them? Ship it, by all means. Here, the reasons come after the desire.

[I'm horrible bc I just had the mental image of this nerd hacking her to leave 'do you like me y/n' notes and shit literally nothing else just dumb admirer shit like that.

Assuming obvs that they'd met somehow so it wasn't quite so stalkeriffic but y'know Loki doesn't always think about consequences oops. (figure it's a mashup between modern/marvel and he's hiding out as an agent to smoke out some unpleasant character or something of the sort)]

[Helps with a case both because it's Good, and to integrate himself with the team a bit and then oops oh no he's into the nerd!!!

I doubt he's telling them he's Loki, figure he's playing off as a supernatural consultant (if it's marvel-crossed they'd probably be becoming a standard thing with all the weird shenanigans)]

[Loki was rather enjoying this. It wasn't often he got to work with a team, let alone on the right side of the law. Granted how he'd snuck his way in wasn't entirely savory, the man he'd edited the credentials of was fine! Working as a friendly, if somewhat mildly confused bookseller downtown, but fine all the same! And of course he didn't give his actual name, just introducing himself as Lucas Serrure, the BAU's newly minted supernatural consultant and liaison. With the emergence of things like magic in the public eye and knowledge, it seemed wise to have people who knew more about it on hand to help make sense of some of the more esoteric things the team might come across.

And beside that, 'Lucas' seemed to have a good sense for the thought process of criminals they came across.]

Oh Garcia~! [Sweeping into her domain with a sing-song call, a neat white box in one hand, a pair of drinks balanced on top.] I come bearing sugar rush and subsequent crash!

[Of everyone on the team, Loki liked Garcia best. Maybe it was just her exuberance. Or how positive she seemed to stay. She was attractive to be sure, and definitely very clever, almost mischievous in her pursuits. Which might be why he started leaving her little notes. Light hacking, more the equivalent of sticking a note in a girl's locker between classes than anything dangerous or probing.

All hail sugar! [Garcia's ponytail can be spotted before she was but she peeks from behind a computer with a smile. She and Lucas had become good friends over the last few months since the BAU gained a supernatural consultant and it showed. She had also found the little cyber notes and had her hunches but since it was harmless to date she's seeing it as fun.]

Social call or new case? [As Garcia spins a chair over to Lucas so he could join her.]

Social call! [The box was set down, one drink set near Garcia, the other kept in Loki's grasp. Some manner of highly-caffienated concoction full of chocolate and topped with whipped cream, and the box flipped open with a black-nailed finger to show off the assortment of cupcakes he'd squirreled in for her.]

Things are quiet, which means of course it's time for a rousing game of 'Lucas avoids paperwork.'

[As he spoke, Loki perched on the edge of the desk, sipping his drink with a teasing waggle of his brows.]

And of course who better to play this game with than my favorite partner in crime?

Even better! [Social calls were the best since Garcia made her office open door for social visits along with work. As she speaks she accepted one cup along with a joke for Lucas.] I'm updating the software so time for a rousing game of ducking paperwork with my partner in madness! [It had been lonely when Morgan left so Lucas arrived just in time, the banter was fast and furious and still just as fun.]

And finished the movie, its nuts for a cable flick! [Handing back the DVD from her bag.] I mean sharks in tornados?

I know, right? Modern movies have raised the bar once again, and many hilariously terrible copycat movies have sprung up to compete.

[He accepted the DVD with a grin. Loki enjoyed the dynamics of the entire team, but he had to admit that spending time with Garcia was his favorite.]

Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus for one! [When had he produced the other DVD? Had he been carrying it in his coat pocket? Well whatever the case, he's waggling the case for emphasis.]

Cue SyFy to name a few having a total field day with the copycats. Which means more fun for us! [Cue a giggle.]

Mega shark vs a giant octopus? This I gotta see! And did I show you the knockoff of Dawn of the Dead yet?

SyFy always has the goods when it comes to ridiculous movies, let's be entirely honest here. [He grins in response, brows lifting slightly as he considered.]

You did not Garcia, and I think I should be gravely offended, you know how much I like zombie flicks.

Step ahead of you. [As Garcia pulls the DVD from a very stuffed laptop case for Lucas.] And yes SyFy weekend movies embrace the cheese in the best sense.
