[It's been a year or two since they met, and, if Colin is serious, what brought him here was curiosity.
And worry, perhaps. He wants to know how Jericho is doing now, two years after their first meeting. They stayed around one another for a while, but eventually, Colin had to move on, as his pack couldn't stick around much longer, and though he tried to stay in touch there's only so much that can be done when you travel as much as they do.
Still, he tried to keep tabs on where Jericho is, and that is why he can find him ...well, tonight. They happened to be in the area, so he rearranged their trajectory a bit. They just happened to arrive this late, and as it turns out Jericho is still awake.
Colin wanders over towards him, making no attempt to walk quietly as he crosses the forest clearing, until he stands almost next to the other man. He's unsure of his welcome but certain that he wants to at least say hi, so he doesn't sit down yet.
So for a while, he doesn't speak up and just watches the sky. Watches Jericho, too.
Eventually, he speaks up.] The Perseids are particularly active this year, it seems.

[ He knows it’s Colin when he first enters the clearing. His scent prickles his memory, familiar in a strange way, and, after so long, he wonders why he’s here. He hadn’t wanted him to leave those years ago, but a lot has changed since then. He’s adapted. Learned things, even. He has better control over his other form, even if he slips up sometimes still. It’s enough that it doesn’t have to completely control his life anymore.
Some things haven’t changed, however. Even though he’s toned his belligerence down, he’s made a point to avoid making close ties with anyone. He can work with them, have conversations, help out where it’s needed and without complaint. He wouldn’t do anything to needlessly endanger these people, having spent so much time with them now. But he made a choice not to belong long ago, and he’s nothing if not tenaciously stubborn.
When Colin finds him it’s much like how he’d left him — he still prefers to be alone, watching the meteor shower while half asleep on the forest floor. A lot of the others are reveling with drink, celebrating something or other. He’d quietly bowed out an hour ago and come here instead. ]
It makes for a good show. [ He shifts his gaze from the sky to the other man, not bothering to get up. ] What’re you doing here?

I wanted to see how you're doing. It's been a while.
[Truth be told, he can't but feel a tiny bit parental towards the other man, despite them being in the same age range. He found him and brought him into the fold, after all, returned him to the family. It's not a feeling that he would admit to, but it does make him want to keep track of Jericho.]

Checking up on me? I’ve been behaving. [ That’s not what he’s asking, he knows. He could get a report of his behavior from anyone else here. He watches a pinprick of light cross the sky as Colin sits down. ] I’m still here.
no subject
[He watches the night sky as well, careful to not look at Jericho. Give him space, if just by letting him get out of sight.]
How has it been? [Past behaving. He's pretty sure that he wouldn't have heard the end of it if the guy that he brought along had caused major trouble. They'd probably have blamed it on him - not directly, perhaps, but implied it to be so.]
no subject
[ Different from what he'd been used to. Lonely, too, in different ways, which doesn't make much sense since he's surrounded by people now. It's still true. ]
I've made a lot of friends. We'd all die for each other now.
[ The sarcasm is strong. ]
And you?

...How about living together, though? [After all that's what their tribe is big on. Passion and Life. Living passionately (sometimes a bit too much so). Alcohol and lore are parts of that, but that's not all.
Not that either of them is the best example, but then neither of them is an example that anyone would use to describe the Fianna, at least not when meaning well.]
no subject
We live together. We inhabit the same space. [ Doesn't that count? ] Sometimes I can't take the revelry. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm not like them. They thrive off the camaraderie. It just makes me feel crowded.
[ He sits up, stretching his shoulders and then resting his arm on one knee as he looks over. ] It hasn't been bad. I suppose I owe you some kind of thank you for allowing me to tame myself. But if you'd ask me if I could see myself living like this for the rest of my life, my answer's no. Am I disappointing you?
no subject
So no. You're doing as well as could be expected, I guess. [It's meant to be encouraging. He hopes it doesn't come across as disregard. But despite his own treatment he's Fiann enough to consider family a very, very important part of one's life. And he considers living important, not just existing. And it felt like Jericho was just existing before they met.
He had hoped that would change. Perhaps in time.] You didn't exactly have an easy start.
no subject
He almost laughs; it comes out sounding a bit too caustic. ] No, I wouldn't call kidnapping an easy start. But it's all water under the bridge now, right? [ Nothing threatening about that at all. He lowers himself back onto the ground, resting a hand behind his head. ] What'll happen if I leave? Are you going to track me down again?
no subject
Check in on other septs. [To stay in touch. Know what is going on in the world, but also: So others can notice if something is off.] Visit the umbra sometimes. [Because paying attention to a werewolf's spiritual part by visiting the spiritual world is important for their sanity, too.]
If I don't get the impression that you're entirely neglecting one or both, you don't have to see me again. [He can see a rejection where it's being delivered. ...Sometimes in more places than it is intended in, but he's pretty sure it's intended here. After all they did not start off on a good foot.]
no subject
You might have started this, but it's not you that's making me want to leave. [ He feels it's an important distinction to make. ] We don't have to not see each other. But I want to live as a human.
[ He's not sure if he means the confession to come out, but there it is in all of its stupid glory. It's not entirely possible, he knows, but he can get closer than this. The pride that everyone else seems to have, the acceptance... he can't manage it. ] I never wanted this curse. [ And that's what he sees it as. Not a heritage. Just a curse. ]
no subject
[Because that way lies madness and the neglected side tearing apart the one that Jericho wants so badly.]
Who you are only determines what you have to live like to a certain degree. But it has an impact. [He follows that up with a crooked grin.] Take me, for example. I need to live among Garou due to who I am, but while expected, there is nothing that means that I need to live with our tribe.
And thus, I only drop back in when absolutely needed. [But he does. He's not going to neglect summons to an official gathering or the like when he's in the area.]
no subject
[ He's heard all the cautions and warnings, the stories of those who failed to heed them. He's not itching to join their ranks. ]
I'd like to be able to drop by only when absolutely needed. Or not at all. That would work just fine, too. Or maybe you could just come visit me and make sure I'm not wreaking havoc on the city. That options cuts out most of the bullshit, I would say.
no subject
[It's odd, passing on that kind of knowledge - what is socially absolutely necessary, what is physically absolutely necessary, and all the things that can be left by the wayside.
Perhaps, he thinks fleetingly, there was something like fate that led them together after all. Many others wouldn't part with such words that easily.
After a moment, he shakes his head, briefly.] And if you do not mind, I can drop by from time to time. Without the pack. [As, he assumes, Jericho wouldn't want that.
no subject
[ He's been known to incapacitate himself from time to time. Not at the sept, due to trust issues, but before.
There's the briefest of smiles at that. ] I wouldn't have brought it up if I minded. Or I would've brought it up only to let you know that I minded. Others won't have a problem with that, right?
no subject
Nobody will mind if I visit you alone, no. I think the pack approves of me looking after you. [And their tribe at least won't mind, but he feels like that goes without saying. He might not be considered someone who should have been born, but that doesn't mean that he isn't still family that should stick together with other family. So even if the two of them stick to nobody else particularly much, they should stick to one another.]
