[Living together had started out simply enough - Steve's apartment was a wreck, and Sam's place was big enough for two, and it had been a totally innocent offer, really. One that kept Steve firmly in the guest room and Sam in the master bedroom, and in the beginning, Steve and Sam were out chasing down leads more often than not (sharing a hotel room on the road, because Steve's frugal and that's how he rolls).

But the more time Sam spends around Steve, the more he's starting to realize this man is a problem of the kind he hasn't seen in a long time. A Problem with a capital letter. If Sam were sensible (and he's usually pretty damn sensible), he would have realized this the moment Steve started maybe-possibly flirting with him on the Mall all those months ago. But his common sense seems to be broken where Steve Rogers is concerned. Lines start blurring, touches start to linger, Sam's showers get colder. And Sam...well, he isn't sure what to think.

Right now, he's mostly thinking about dinner. It's been a long day at work, Sam's still stuck carpooling (you wouldn't believe how hard it is to get an insurance settlement when a brainwashed Soviet assassin totals your car), and he's too damn tired to cook. So when Steve comes in, he's staring at a Chinese menu, spacing out a little bit. It takes him a moment to even realize he's there, and then he starts suddenly.]

[ She's been out of the ice for years, now, but Stephanie is pretty sure she will never fully get used to modern life. Back in the forties, huge ships weren't uncommon. Cruise liners, luxury yachts, they existed. But she's pretty sure they were never as big as this.

The MSC Divina sails out of Miami, a tropical hell-hole if there ever was one. It's an absolutely monstrous ship, capable of carrying 3,500 passengers, which makes it the perfect vessel upon which to conduct treasonous, world-shattering business. With so many people milling around, one is almost virtually guaranteed enough anonymity to be able to make whatever deals one likes, which is how Stephanie found herself standing in line in the cruise terminal, her fingers absently twined with Bucky's with the kind of inattentive affection married people are known for as she scrolled through a mission debrief styled to look like a New York Times article on her phone, waiting to be brought up to the little window with the suspiciously cheerful cruise employee who would take their picture for their ID cards and scan their passports to let them onto the boat.

They wind up in a beautiful "stateroom", one all the way at the back of the boat, with a balcony that overlooks the wake churned up in the water below. With the wall-to-wall glass and the gauzy curtains blowing gently in the breeze, it the kind of view like something out of some kind of advert, an image seen on television, not one she ever expected to call her own for the next ten days. ]

I think the entirety of our old apartment could fit in this room, Buck, [ she says, grinning as she flings herself down onto the bed and sighs appreciatively. It was easier to fit into small spaces before she got the serum; being as tall as she is now makes finding comfortable places to sleep a rarity.
