Hurt, then comfort

hurt/comfort smut;
meme

Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness;

The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love.

This post can provide that, too.

Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. All are welcome, they just have to take that first step.

"I'm grateful you made an exception for me. The night may well have turned out much worse otherwise."

He is certain he would have recovered, of course, but Matthew didn't know that.

He gestured toward the next brownstone. "My home."

Oh, wow. It's big--and very architecturally impressive.

Although he's primarily thinking about whether the kitchen will have any helpful healing herbs.

"It's beautiful," he says.

Sad that Hannibal was assaulted so close to home, though.

"Thank you. May I invite you inside? I cannot say I am aware of a traditional way to show one's gratitude for healing, but certainly a glass of wine cannot hurt."

He fully intends to have a deep conversation with the young man, and wine could facilitate that.

Matt grins, bright and almost palpably relieved.

"I think the etiquette's probably flexible."

With the turn this evening's taken, he'd like a lot of wine, please and thank you. Maybe that way he won't jitter about whether he's making the right choices.

"Wine sounds really nice."

Hannibal answers that grin with a warm smile of his own. "Wonderful."

He turns and starts up the steps, moving slowly, his motions pained.

Matt winces, doing his best to offer support as they go.

"You don't happen to have any chamomile, or maybe sage or rosemary? I could, um, make you something to help with the rest of it."

Again, Hannibal leans on Matt a little bit more than he has to, further encouraging the notion that he's injured and thus fairly harmless.

"I keep all three in ready supply. I enjoy cooking. Perhaps you may join me for a meal."

When they get to the door, Hannibal unlocks it and steps inside, holding the door open for his newfound friend, inviting him in.

"I don't want to put you out," Matt protests gently, as he slips inside. On the other hand, if Hannibal feels up to it, cooking isn't really a high-impact activity, is it?

He smiles.

"Maybe we can start with wine and see how it goes?"
