So of course I made a deal with one. I lived very much by the "do as I say, not as I dumb" philosophy. In exchange for hiding a certain object in a particular section of the Nevernever earlier this year I had agreed to an escort mission. Anyone who has rolled a 20 sided die can tell you, those are the worst. Because if they had useful stats then they wouldn't need you to escort them. I don't want to call them "dead weight" because "paranoia" and "don't jinx things" are as close to a religion as I have, but they generally didn't make the journey easier.
But a deal is a deal. I'm here to escort the very-much-alive weight through the city to wherever they need to go. Just because this started off as a literal walk in the park though didn't make me think that it was going to be easy. Because if it was going to be easy they wouldn't need me: Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk.
[ooc: Be the person escorted, or back up, or attack him. I'm just winging it.]

Karrin Murphy of the CPD had come running when Harry had called her. They've been on good terms ever since Dresden had clued her in on the Supernatural world but he could still be a pain in the ass about it. He had that haughty tone of 'I know something you don't know' and Karrin had the random urge to punch that smug expression off his face.
Today had been a little different.
He had come to her asking for help and, after a short explanation, she had agreed. Their charge was a young girl named the Archive though Harry continued to call her Ivy. There was something about the new Summer Lady wanting to transport the young girl somewhere safe but Karrin had filed the details in two columns: things that were important now and things that would be important later.
Right now she was focused on the chill that had raised goosebumps on her arms. She wouldn't have gotten this far if she didn't trust her instincts and right now they were screaming. "Harry."
She paused and drew her gun from the holster at her side, flicking off the switch with ease. "Something is here."
Over the last few minutes a thick foreboding mist had surrounded them. Karrin couldn't see the sidewalk in front of her, let alone what was around the next counter.

When you got an escort mission in your city that involves some dangerous stuff, who you gonna call? The police, you're going to call the police because this sort of thing is their job. If it's spooky, dangerous stuff and you're me then you call Karrin Murphy. She might not be able to reach the top cupboards without some help she looks far, far too cute to be as bad ass as she is but Murph is one bad mother- shut your mouth. There's no one I'd rather have watch my back, mostly because I know if she was going to kick my ass she'd do it to my face so I knew the kicking was her doing.
"Why Detective Murphy, what would ever give you that impression?" I asked as the fog swarmed around us. Involving the non-magical community was a big no-no. Humans were the nuclear option because once they learned that magic and scary things associated with it were real then they'd start dealing with it and we don't have a good track record wth that. Good and bad alike would all be dealt with because why take the chances? "Just stick close to me and if you hear any high-pitched screaming it's definitely Ivy and not me."

Had the area been clear before the fog move in? Karrin couldn't remember.
She grit her teeth and put the young girl behind her. Harry was at her back and she trusted him to keep an eye out where she couldn't. They've been working together for years and while they've had a few spats, they were friends and they worked well together.
Karrin scoffed at Harry. "Try not to scream like a little girl Harry. I'm only here to protect Ivy, remember?" A shadow moved in the fog and the banter was put on pause. Karrin tapped Harry's shoulder and pointed to the fluid looking creature as its outline grew. "There." Karrin didn't know if it'd be something form the NeverNever, she couldn't imagine Red Court Vampires coming out while the sun was still up; even if it was a cloudy day.

It implied either a direct cause of the incident or the catalyst that started the chain of causes. In this case, the fault could be linked all the way back to Lara Raith but then, who was counting?
Justine had come to Harry for help. There were few people she could trust and, as Thomas's brother, Harry had become something like family. She didn't understand what family meant but she was learning and, bit by bit, she began to trust the only advertised wizard in Chicago.
Her breath came out in short puffs as she pressed her shoulder blades against the back corner of Harry's office. She'd come looking for help but had been followed. Whoever was out to get her was smart, they had started the fire at the ground floor and it was slowly make its way up. The fire alarms had sounded but they'd most likely die from the smoke if they did nothing.
"Harry!" Her voice laced with tension and fear as she saw the smoke billowing from the floors below.
