It's time to d-d-date!
The Dating Meme

Dating is, when you think about, really weird. It's a totally different thing for different people. Some are friends for years before they date; others start dating on the same day they met. Sometimes, there's a lot mushy stuff involved; other times, the couple acts just like friends. None of this is necessarily right or wrong.
Whatever it is, your character and the character you reply to are now dating. How? That's up to you. Whether it be awkward or not, the relationship will be uniquely theirs.
How to Play
-Comment with your character and preferences.
-Reply to others.
-Have fun.
Prompts
1. Best Friends to More: Oh, wow, you've been this person's friend forever! But then you realize you have feelings for them, and they for you. Will things change when you change your status?
2. The Sudden Decision: Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here I am, date me maybe?
3. Confession: You've had feelings for this person for, like, ages, and you want to ask them to date you. Or maybe the confession just slips out...
4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!
5. I Guess We're Dating: Huh. We are dating, aren't we? Everyone else knew before us...
6. Slow Decision: For the more mature and seasoned, they might fall into something sweet without needing to rush.
7. Been Burned Before: One of you has had a bad relationship, and now both of you have to bear that brunt if you want to date now.
8. Innocence: This is your first real relationship, so you have to figure it out together. That's harder than it looks.
9. Courting: You're from an old-fashioned world or are old-fashioned yourself, so it's courting, not dating. Still, maybe you can sneak away from the chaperon.
10. First Date: Your first true date. What's it like? What would happen if...I don't know...it went bad?
11. First Kiss: Of course.
12. First Time: Together or in general.
13. The Perfect Couple: The couple that never argues and is more like best friends than a couple.
14. The Not-So-Perfect Couple: Ugh, these guys always argue and seem to despise each other. Why are they even together?
15. Comfortable: You can do anything around or in front of your honey.
16. Not Cut Out for Dating: One of you is anti-social, a jerk, a stoic badass, whatever. You're not dating material...yet here you are.
17. Getting on Each Others' Nerves: Spending too much time together can get even the most patient people annoyed with the person they're dating.
18. Know What You Like: It's almost like they can read your mind, whether it be in the kitchen, at the store, or in the bedroom.
19. Trouble in Paradise: Maybe it's external factors, or perhaps internal, but whatever the case may be, things aren't looking so sunny.
20. Test the Strength: Someone else has an obvious crush on the person you're dating. What do you do?4. Hate Date: You really don't like this person; actually, you hate them. But you don't want them to be with anyone else!

22. Getting Serious: Things are getting way deep with this person. They may be the one...or maybe they think they are, while you're not too sure.
23. Old Hat: This relationship is dull. Can you get back the spark?
24. End It: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to see other people.
25. Taking It to the Next Level: You don't want to date them anymore. You want to marry them.

Jim latched on to people he liked, people he could have a good time with to alleviate the boredom of work. He had a couple of people like that in the sales division, but he rarely got to talk to all the brainiacs over in the meat-and-potatoes research division. When he saw Peter in the break room the first day, he was surprised to learn that Peter was actually an intern - for half-a-minute, he had thought a kid from a school tour had gotten lost or he had missed some memo on "Bring Your Kid to Work" Day. Maybe that said something off about him, considering he'd taken a shine to flirting with Peter. He'd taken a shine to Peter overall.
He sidled on up to Peter in the break room as usual, a cup of coffee in his hands. This was pretty much the only place they got to chat, aside from the couple of times Jim had decided to treat Peter to lunch - sales and research rarely got to talk to each other outside of the break room or office parties.
"So. I won a couple tickets to this 80s horror double-feature this weekend. You interested?" Jim hoped he'd be interested. They both liked their movies, and this was Jim's best hope at trying to ask the intern out.

For some reason, nobody had wanted to believe Peter was an intern. He'd had to tell Ned four times that this internship was actually an internship, and half the people at the office didn't think he was old enough - he still hadn't exactly grown out of the baby face and it had been a struggle to get people to take him seriously.
Jim seemed to take him seriously. Jim was... rapidly becoming one of his best friends in the office, even though they worked in different departments, and every time they got a chance to catch up in the break room made his day just a little bit better.
Especially those days when Jim seemed to be flirting with him. Peter was pretty sure it was wishful thinking on his part, but that didn't mean he didn't like it.
"80s horror double feature? I am so there." his expression perked up, grinning brightly at Jim.

"Maybe we can catch dinner after? That is, unless you have some hot date." Jim jabbed at Peter's side with a light tap of his elbow. He could at least gauge if the kid had anyone else or had eyes set on anybody else, somewhat. Jim rarely bared his heart, so he liked to be sure, or as sure as he could be.

See, that, that right there, was that flirting or just banter? Peter wished he was better at figuring this kind of thing out because he honestly really hoped it was the former. Knowing his luck, on the other hand..
"Definitely no date," he shook his head with a faint smile "I'm all yours."
He was pretty sure his flirting was terrible, but he'd at least try.

idk what number this falls under WHO CARES
[Tonight, however, it's incredibly quiet. Too quiet in some ways, but not so much that it feels lonely with just the two of them in the apartment. It's not likely that he could feel alone in this space, anyhow. Although the years between the small cottage by the shore and Fugo's arrival were spent largely alone in this apartment, it was home. Bruno made sure that it would always be home and the only difference now is that he shares it with others. But even if it were possible to feel loneliness here, he doesn't think he would. Abbacchio isn't exactly a presence that can be easily overlooked even if Bruno were to try.]
[Bruno closes the ledger in front of him and sits back for a moment in his chair, reaching a hand up to lightly massage the back of his neck. He's not overly fond of the nights he needs to spend looking over Polpo's books, but he's the only team leader Polpo trusts enough to do it. He looks at the oven clock and sees that he's a little late with dinner. Without the other three beginning to lurk at the edges of the kitchen to remind him it's time to eat, it's easier to lose track of the time. He considers the possibility of just postponing dinner until they get back as he stands up, but it's not likely that any one of them will be back until incredibly late. Abbacchio shouldn't have to wait for his meal anyway.]
[Picking up the ledger and carrying it out of the kitchen, he glances in Abbacchio's direction to be sure he doesn't have headphones. Bruno's on his way to his own room to put the ledger up when he asks,]
Do you want leftovers or do you want me to make something?
5 months and 21 days later
[Which is to say he doesn't miss them, but he might around midnight. Maybe. For now, he's enjoying the quiet. His headphones are neatly wrapped on the table at his side. He's listening to the sounds of the building settling and Bruno turning pages, at least until Bruno gets up. Abbacchio blinks over his shoulder, mildly startled at being addressed, and then shrugs expressively.]
You shouldn't have to make food the one night you don't have seven thousand screaming mouths to feed.
[This is in no way an answer to the question that's been posed, but nonetheless. It's the answer he gives.]
no subject
[He doesn't debate the part about seven thousand screaming mouths though. He can't deny how much the other three can pack it away when there's a hot meal put in front of them and he would be a fool to try.]
[Bruno returns after tucking away the ledger.]
Unless you're trying to suggest you make dinner.
[In which case, Bruno isn't entirely sure how on-board he is for that, but he knows he's not against it completely. It's less of a gamble letting Abbacchio settle the matter of dinner on his own relative to the others; that goes without saying. But outside of coffee in the mornings and opening bottles of wine whenever he pleases, Abbacchio doesn't tend to do too much on his own in the kitchen. Then again, Bruno also doesn't tend to let anyone do much on their own. Cooking has simply been Bruno's de facto responsibility since... well, longer than he can exactly remember. It's difficult for him to give that up is the point.]
[But he can make an effort to try and he can certainly make an effort to lie if it comes out horribly. So, he doesn't automatically dismiss the idea without also encouraging it.]
no subject
[In the end, his scrutiny convinces him: he's not being made fun of. Clicking his tongue, he faces forward and slings one leg over the opposite knee.]
I wasn't suggesting anything except that you shouldn't make dinner.
[God, if he tried to make dinner tonight, the one night they have to themselves, he'd ruin it, because that's just how things go for him. He's a decent enough cook, but it doesn't even matter. If he's given any responsibility tonight, he absolutely will ruin Bruno's quiet, because fuck him is why.]
[Drumming his fingers on the armrest, he stares pointedly forward. Then he plants both feet on the floor and stands, hands in his pockets, to face Bruno.]
Let's go out.
[???????]
no subject
[Bruno blinks at the suggestion. Request? Whatever it could be classified as, Bruno clearly didn't expect it and there's a moment of hesitation. His instinct is to say yes both because a night out with Abbacchio would be...nice and also because he'd been willing to go along with whatever Abbacchio suggested they do about dinner. But he also needs to be pragmatic. A night out is dipping into the household funds, which is something he typically avoids when it comes to spending on things for himself beyond necessities.]
[He nods, though if asked he couldn't really explain how exactly he arrived at a decision.]
Did you have somewhere in mind?
no subject
[Did Bruno just nod?]
Uhh.
[So . . . okay. . . . Okay, then. That's that, is it? Bruno wants to do it. Panic and anticipation ram into each other as they churn in his gut. And now he's supposed to provide a location. Why? He's not the capo. It's not like this is a date.]
[He shoves his hands deeper into his pockets to keep from pulling them out and making wide gestures. He doesn't need to be any easier to read than he already is.]
Nowhere we have to get changed and dressed up for. [That's easy enough.] It's a pain, and it'd be too expensive and stuffy anyway. You shouldn't have to be on good behavior on your night off. But nowhere sloppy either. [Something in between . . . and he doesn't even realize how easily his focus shifts from we to you, but it's all for Bruno anyway. It hardly matters.]
[After a moment, it comes to him. Glancing at Bruno, he raises an eyebrow.] You went somewhere for lunch last week. Thursday, I think. You liked their bruschetta. [He remembers this for reasons, don't question it.] Do they do dinner?
no subject
[There's a hint of a smile.]
I believe so, yes, [Bruno says with another nod.] Their menu is a little limited compared to most, but they're good at what they do.
no subject
[He shrugs tightly, already exhausted by the aphorism. Bruno knows what he means, so why say it? Besides, there are other things to focus on. That little smile, for one. It's awfully distracting. He's not sure what it means, exactly, but--]
[It's good. He doesn't mind it.]
Well. If it works for you, then let's do that. [This is the most decisive he's been in years, and it's only because he tricked himself into believing Bruno made the decision, god help him.]
no subject
[If he did that, they'd be here all night.]
It works for me. If you're ready...?
[He gestures towards the door, indicating what should fill in the blank.]
