Sebastian had given up his vows to work on reclaiming his throne. This hadn't come as a surprise to anyone; Hawke had been encouraging him to do so practically since the first day they met (or, at least, since Hawke had helped him kill Lady Harimann and avenge his family). He was still staying in Kirkwall, amassing allies, but now that he was no longer a Brother he had taken up lodging with the surviving Harimanns, at Flora's invitation.

Among Hawke's friends, he still played his role. The devout (ex) Brother, occasionally the only voice of reason in a den of hedonists and apostates. It was almost a joke among the group, how little Sebastian changed before and after leaving the Chantry. Isabela had even asked, "Aren't you supposed to cut loose? Go on a wild bender, maybe even hire the biggest orgy you can afford at the Rose to celebrate?" but Sebastian laughed off the teasing, explaining that he'd been wild enough in the not-so-distant past, he didn't need to make up for any lost time.

On the surface, his relationship with Anders remained...strained. They bickered about justice and the Maker and purpose and mage rights, never quite reaching an accord but never reaching the level of viciousness that, say, Fenris met Anders with.

The first time they had kissed, they had been the only two sober after a night of wicked grace at the Hanged Man. Anders had pushed too many buttons (as usual), and Sebastian had pushed him up against the wall in the hallway and kissed him, leaving them both hungry and breathless. He may have had his experience as a younger man, but kissing Anders had lit a spark in him the like of which he hadn’t felt even in his wilder youth.

Now, too often, he left the Harimann estate after dusk with only his bow and a knife for protection, his rather unsubtle armor left behind, and slipped into Darktown to find the familiar lanterns, slipping out of the shadows when Anders’ assistants put out the lanterns for him and headed to their homes.
