It was still kind of weird. Tetsuo had known Nozomi since what seemed like forever; his adoptive parents had known her family, and she'd been a playmate when they were little, and then a classmate when they started going to school. He hadn't seen her since he was--what, ten years old?--when he'd run away from home, after his adoptive mother died.

It had been a pure coincidence that they'd run into each other again. He'd been doing odd jobs, including courier work, and just happened to be sent to deliver flowers to a school idol. He'd barely even recognized her, at first, until he'd read her name on the card. She'd always been sweet and cute and pretty but in the last several years, she'd gone straight through beautiful to hot, and it always took him a moment to process that it was the same Nozomi he used to play with, once upon a time.

It was hard to decide if the more jarring thing was taking a gorgeous school idol on a date, taking Nozomi on a date, or going on a date. He really hadn't done that sort of thing, before. Not a date date, anyway. He was honestly still kind of reeling from the idea of going out with her at all (she was definitely totally out of his league, at least as far as he was concerned) much less her wanting to be seen hanging out with him romantically in public... ...at least, he hoped she'd find it romantic.

Were pizza places and high-speed motorcycle rides romantic? Who could say, really...
